How to troubleshoot time related errors on secure websites

Certificates for secure websites (the address begins with https://) are valid only for a certain period of time. If a website presents a certificate with validity dates that don't match the date on your computer's clock, Firefox can't verify that it is secure and will show you an error page.

Such issues can often be fixed by setting the correct date, time, and time zone on your computer system. If this does not solve the problem, it could be caused by other issues, such as a misconfigured web server or an expired certificate. Table of Contents

Set your system clock to the correct time
   Contact the website owner

List of time-related error codes you may encounter Note: A Your Computer Clock is Wrong error page almost certainly means that your computer's clock is set to the wrong date. Some time-related errors will show a Warning: Potential Security Risk Ahead error page, described in this article. For other time-related errors, you'll get a Secure Connection Failed or Did Not Connect: Potential Security Issue error page, described here.

Hello

I am continuing to fail logging in to my Netspend.com account. I am logging in with the correct Username and Password recognized by NetSpend. I have removed the cache. I have investigated if cookies relative to this NetSpend address are blocked. None are. NetSpend support shows no error with my account, on their computers. And, they have no control of cookies.

Would you suggest what I can modify to be successful in logging into my account in NetSpend.com from my Desktop computer ?

NetSpend technical support suggested not to SAVE my Password or Username, having Firefox as my operating browser, proposing Firefox will revert to a former password, unseen by me; thereby not allowing me entry into my NetSpend account.

                   Respectfully
                      Michael

I went to amiunique.org (suggested even in the fingerprinting protection article) and found that using Firefox v103 is extremely uncommon as of today, nearly enough to identify my browser. I thought Firefox was supposed to spoof the version number with fingerprinting protection enabled. Does it only hide minor version numbers? That doesn't seem to cut it for fingerprinting.

The relatively new computer (running Windows 10) used by a non-admin person keeps asking for admin permission every time there's a firefox update. I have several other workstations with firefox and none of those ask for admin rights to be able to update. No solution found in several internet searches for this problem. I'm about ready to put Chrome on this person's computer so I don't have to go to his desk & enter my admin credentials for just a damn FF update.

I use Firefox on multiple devices with synch. I don't want Firefox to ask to save logins, never ever anywhere. :) On my laptop, the option is greyed out and checked, i.e. set to ask to save passwords. So this settings syncs to the other PC's. When running about:config and looking at the option there, it is set to true and also here set to true without possibility to change.

Clues? :)

I use Mendeley Reference manager in Firefox. It used to work OK. Now I get a message "Firefox blocks extensions running on PDF files". This is just what Mendeley does. How do I get Firefox to allow this to happen again?

Folks -

I am working with an internal development web site that uses self signed certificates for https / ssl.

Previously when browsing to this site, FF would present me with a web page that said "Warning: Potential Security Threat Ahead", but then also present an "Advanced" button on this page that would allow me to choose to ignore the cert error and proceed to the site anyways.

Recently, I now no longer have the option to proceed to the site anyways. I might have upgraded my DD during that time. We've also generated new certs recently. FF now just shows an "Unable to Connect" error message and there is no "Advanced" button or option to bypass the cert error and proceed to the site. This is on Firefox 91.12.0esr.

FWIW, both Chrome and IE still present me with options to bypass the cert error and proceed to the site.

Possibly FF will allow you to bypass an invalid CA, but not an invalid CN ?
