... read instructions -- but -- want to be sure I get it right.

I found my user profile, copied it to a Flash drive. I just paste that to user profiles on the new machine.

One question: I copied it with Firefox running. One file -- parent lock -- didn't copy vet. Necessary or will it regenerate when I run Firefox on the new machine?

Better to copy with Firefox fully closed so that files are fully updated.

On the new machine, if you carry over the folder name from the old machine, you might have to manually update a file to get Firefox to recognize it. If, instead, you put the contents of the old folder into the new folder, replacing the files there, then it should work seamlessly.

Edit: just to clarify, when I refer to the new folder, I mean the folder that opens when you do this in the new installation of Firefox:

Ok, so just copy over the files into the new profile . I did close Firefox and did a copy. The first time, I had 127 files. This time, 124. Strange I had less with it closed?

I think there are some database "journaling" files that cache changes temporarily while Firefox is open. My guess would be that was the difference, although I can't be 100% certain. You could copy both ways and compare if you're intensely curious.
