updates from 50 to 56
Firefox updates from 50.1.0 to 56 and thereby loses all my passwords. What's the problem here? The update is put into "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\" path in my window 10 HP computer.

What about the rest of your profile? settings, bookmarks . . . .
Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; Old Firefox?

I thank you for your response! I think the "refresh firefox" really did the trick, because now I even have all my Bookmarks along with all the saved Passwords. It's like magic. I have done a lot of application programming, but I still feel dum!
Sincerely, Friedemann
I'm glad we could help.
Suggestion; I use an add-on that makes backups of my user profile, Just In Case. Unfortunately, it is not compatible with the current Firefox.
Every now and then, open the profile folder and create a copy of the current profile as is to another location on your hard drive. This way you will have a backup.
If you do this each day, you will not lose much data. This should be done with Firefox Closed.
Note: In case you need to restore from these backups, you may need to overwrite old or corrupted files.
Thank you for your additional time, help and good advice.
Of course, nothing, including corrupted files, is the end of the world. And even if it were, I live forever (in a different form).
Sincerely, Friedemann
