How to get back a file blocked by a paranoid browser?
Woke up to find that , the file I left downloading through the night was not here afters hours of downloading time and bandwidth . I discovered a very disturbing unacceptable "Blocked may contain a virus or spyware"..MAY !!! I am mad against Mozilla because I do not have the time to re download. Here is my question:
Is there a "Vault" or a "quarantine" folder where I can recover this file??
(I know that the source of such messages is Google and that in the future I will uncheck a line on the options' security tab. This is not my problem.)
My problem is: Can I find it somewhere and recover it without re-downloading??

Unfortunately the file is not stored anywhere on your harddrive. It has been deleted entirely.
If you think this file block is a "false positive" and that the file is actually safe, you could do one of the following:
(1) Download the file using a downloader add-on that bypasses this security check. I heard about this in another thread but haven't tried it myself (and also, I don't know which add-ons to trust for this!).
(2) Disable the Safe Browsing feature temporarily to get the file, then turn it back on. There is a checkbox in the Options dialog:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Security tab, it's the "Block reported attack sites" checkbox. The other checkbox relates to phishing sites and I don't think it affects downloads.
@Mark Schmidt
Thank you very much for your prompt response. Unfortunately this is not exactly the answer to my quest. It is most probably right but it is not the solution I asked for.
Now, not only did I deactivate the option of "safe browsing" , I am also considering quitting Firefox which is becoming a bloatware with too many new features for so-called "developers" and too many paranoid "protections" paralyzing it.
I think I have to find a much simpler type of browser not made either for morons that need pampers or for programmers that do not need a browser to start with !
Firefox Mozilla till versions 3 was the best before geniuses started to "improve" it ..Yes I do not pay for it but is this an excuse?
@ Cor el
Thank you for your answer
Actually I thoroughly searched Mozilla Support & came by the page you suggest, before publishing my request
Looks like there is nothing I can do now to retrieve a big big file which took hours to download..Shame on you Firefox !
I would understand if Firefox cancelled the download before doing it, not after it has downloaded the whole file.
Failure to check before is an unforgivable programming error
Anyway, no more stupid "Safe browsing" in Firefox for me. I had it already stopped both in my Anti-virus and in Malwarebytes...
I hope that my question becomes a wake-up call for all Firefox users to get rid of this new imposed "Safe browsing" censorship from Google !

I use the Free Download Manager. This is a separate program. After installing, add-ons are placed in your browsers. When you want to download, you can get the manager to do it, leaving Firefox free to do whatever.
