Firefox Updates:

Automatically install updates (recommended) = OFF When Firefox is not running = OFF (It's on but greyed out because of the above setting) Check for updates but let you choose to install them = ON

Is it normal that firefox still creates this "telemetry" folder even when auto updates are OFF? C:\ProgramData\Mozilla-1de4eec8-1241-4177-a854-e594e9c1fb38 UpdateLock-CA7422744AE1A41C

C:\ProgramData\Mozilla-1de4eec8-1241-4177-a854-e594e9c1fb38\updates\CA7422744AE1A41C update-config.json {"__DEFAULTS__":{"app.update.auto":true,"app.update.background.enabled":true},"app.update.auto":false}

As suggested i added these two lines to firefox.cfg lockPref("app.update.background.enabled", false); lockPref("app.update.background.scheduling.enabled", false); Seem like firefox doesn't give a ****? How can i once and for all fully disable both these settings? Automatically install updates (recommended) = OFF When Firefox is not running = OFF

By the way, during the installation i DID NOT install the maintenance service, so why exactly is the exe in the directory anyways??

Hi, I am able to read a business mag on one Windows 10 Home system but on another which has Win 10 Pro , FF will not allow to STAY logged in to that magazine. I am using Windows 10 Home on the system that will not allow me to stay logged in. I have checked all settings I can think of. I have browsed all the Help Q&A here. I have chcked for all updates and confirm I am using the latest FF updates on both machines.

What could be in my settings that blocks me seeing my magazine?

Thank you. Adam

Greetings from North-East of France, since a few weeks ago I'm seeing a (sort of) pop-up window suggesting to login with a Google account (see the screenshot attached). I've done some internet search to find out how to get rid of it, but the only suggestion I get is to modify an option in a Google account. However, I do not have a Google account! How to get rid of this disturbing pop-up? I already use Adblock Plus and uBlock Origin, yet Google passes through them! Thank you in advance for any help you may provide.

btw this solution is not working

Yes, you can - only since the update to Firefox version 73 the extension "xul" has been changed to "xhtml", so now you will have to enter this in the address bar :

chrome://passwordmgr/content/passwordManager.xhtml

Since this address give me error

I created a Firefox Account yesterday and immediately unsubscribed from all Email Alerts.

Today I received another Email from Firefox titled 'Superpower #2: protect your whole device with a VPN'

I have yet again unsubscribed from all Email Alerts using the same methods as before, provided in the Email.

How do I ensure that Firefox do not email me regarding anything? I like to setup block lists as a last resort.

Firefox is the browser I use for my AT &T E-mails. I cannot sign in anymore using my password. It says too many attempts have been made to sign in, when it was the first time on that day I am trying to sign-in. I have tried to change my password and it works for a while, and then the same thing happens a few days later. Please help. AT & T tell me that it is the Firefox browser that is doing this. I have tried getting help with AT & T and they can't figure it out.

I have different options on my Tablet v My Laptop. The tablet shows "connected services", and lists a work computer I haven't had for two years. I don't find "connected services" on the laptop, but the versions both show fully updated. When I try to force a log-off, the systems sends a "Log On" pin to my email. Makes no sense to me. Any ideas on how to fix? Thanks

Firefox is not saving my settings when I close it. This can happen for various settings, e. g. if I allow a pop-up exception, or a cookie override exception, for a specific site, and save the setting, it will be gone whenever I close and restart Firefox.

Also, bookmarks are not saved - apparently somewhat randomly.

I currently have Firefox 160.0.6 64 bit. However, this has been going on with the last several versions of Firefox.

I have uninstalled Firefox, discarded the folder containing my profile, then reinstalled Firefox. But the problem still exists.

I'm experiencing the same problem as described by the user in the post at [1] --- in short, every time I delete an old certificate from my browser, it appears to be successful, but then when I refresh firefox I see that the old certificate is in fact still there. I tried the solutions described in [1] (deleting the cert9.db and cert8.db with firefox closed) but my problem persists. Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm using Firefox 106.0.5 on Mac OS Catalina.

Hi all.

I have window 10, newish machine 2 yrs old, with MS Defender and Firewall installed and over weekend system was hacked by a search engine site (firefox) having a fake plumbing site. How could this happen ? Doesn´t Firefox have any protection against backdoor sites ? I am a cautious user not using any password manager nor any financial CC information stored. My trust has now been shattered. I write this to warn others. A long story cut short. The hacker got entry via the site into my notebook and ransomed me to pay 400 euros upfront to an XBox account to recover the machine. That never materialized. In the ensuing choas I attempted to turn the machine off, and the power button didn´t work. The hacker had gotton into the power plan and messed the program up that immoblized the power off function so he/she had more time to crib my files. On previous generation machines it was easier to take the battery pack out. Now not the case. The situation made worse that a communal Lan router was on another floor and impractical to pull the plug out. In my case I put the notebook in a microwave oven and slammed the door to screen it from the WLAN. It worked but it is ridiculous there is no other way. I blame MS for such useless protection Defender/Firewall programs and Mozilla must take the share of the blame too for allowing the clone on the browser. Even with remote connection disabled, if Hackers find it so easy to enter via the backdoor, then high time these companies upped the ante in making systems far more secure. Even with extra verification, it wouldn´t have worked. Now the next step is beyond home fiddling but have to take this to a IT specialist to root out any embedded 3rd party links. I welcome all comments.... one wonders all this stuff regarding privacy is really a rouse.

If I was given an option to throw myself in the pit that's become PRIVATE BROWSING by Firefox, I chose it in ignorance. One reason I faithfully used original/old Firefox was due to the ease in locating articles I'd read 2 weeks ago. I've come to understand that I refer back to those far more often than many people do. As my years lengthen (nearly 73 of 'em) my short-term memory is no longer as retentive as it used to be. Firefox never failed me. Then came PRIVATE BROWSING. I need to TURN IT OFF - PERMANENTLY. If I ever need to immediately delete my browsing history, I will do it manually, just like always. YOU PEOPLE (I hate that term; that's exactly why I'm using it.) YOU PEOPLE need to elicit satisfaction with status quo before making a wholesale toss down the elevator shaft.

Now, when I tic the "+" for a new tab, it automatically furnishes a New Private Tab. How about giving me back my old memory-saving New Tab? So far, I have resisted switching to Google, Safari, or God Knows. Please relieve the necessity.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

Kind regards,

Kathleen Heaton

In the latest versions of Firefox all connections are automatically upgraded to https. As a result, I can no longer use Firefox to access this site: http://hearts.vex.net hearts.vex.net is a site which I've been using and enjoying for years. Since the site has no https URL registered with their hosting provider, all requests end up here

As Firefox is my default browser, I have to use other browsers for this purpose, which I'd prefer not to do. A setting in the configuration file could be added to disable this behavior either globally or for a specific site, correct?
