I can't prevent the pop-up that asks if I want Firefox as my default browser.

When starting the browser, a pop-up asking to set Firefox as default always pops up. I've tried un-clicking the pop-up checkbox that is supposed to prevent it from "always asking" to no avail. I have also tried going to settings and un-clicking the default, yet the msg persists whenever I open the browser. How can I make this stop?
