My email provider uses no encryption (no SSL), and does not require me to log onto SMTP with username/password. If I do, it doesn't configure. Please help. NICK

Have never struck this before. Usually email apps give the choice of "No Encryption" (as against SSL). My system will not brook encryption in this form. Also, when setting up SMTP, there is an option for username and password NOT to be added every time the email is accessed. Yet this app requests that you do. If so, then my emails will not work in this form. Other than that, I like it! :-) NICK

ZTE Open C

1.3.0.0.

When using the email setup programme as supplied by ZTE/Firefox OS, for POP, it is fine until I get to Security. The only choice here is either SSL or STARTSSL. I am unable to uncheck wither one, as I do not have security. If I was setting this up on my HTC M7 mobile, I would have the choice of SSL, STARTSSL or NONE. I picked none.

Exactly the same issue arises when I enter my details into the SMTP area. I cannot choose NONE.

Further to that, there is no checkbox to disable a SMTP Login every time it is used. For instnce, again on the HTC M7, There is a checkbox reading WTTE: "Login to SMTP with user name/password? Yes/No?" I say No, and uncheck this box. Without that being there, I don't know if the default for you is Yes or No.

My proper settings should be available on the iinet website.

>* Who is your current cell phone carrier?

Virgin Australia. My InterNet Provider is IINET Australia, who took over Netspace, which is my email credentials.

>* How often do you encounter this issue?

I cannot set up email at all. > >Please be sure to include as much detail as possible, including any websites that may exhibit this issue, and >any error messages that you may be receiving, exactly as they appear. Hi warspite46,

Wouldn't a lack of a password on a POP/SMTP email account not be a huge security vulnerability?

I understand that you are not able to access your emails and that this feature is not available, but I'm trying to understand why you would have an account with no password before filing a bug for it. =)

Is it not possible to create a username/password for your email account?

Hi Ralph.

Thank you for your interest.

A small confusion. Yes, I do a password for both, but no, the SMTP Server does not require it to be given again, when loaded, as it is the same password. What I do NOT have, either with POP3 or SMTP, is encryption, be it SSL or STARTLLS (?). On other email setups, I am given a 3rd option....NONE, which I select. I do not believe that this is a unique situation, as I believe, email encryption is only a recent addition. I have always endevoured to keep confidential and private things away from my emails, for that reason.

Hi warspite46,

Thank you for the clarification. I was able to find an existing bug where engineers are looking into this issue, and our content manager is making sure this gets addressed in a help article within our Knowledge Base.

Here is the tracking bug:

Unfortunately, this feature is not yet implemented, but should be available in future versions of Firefox OS.

Hi Ralph.

Thanks for your reply. I'm glad you were able to track this bug down, and help is on its way.

I would ask that, if possible, a fix can be found for this email bug sooner, rather than later, as this is something I depend on. I don't think I am alone in this, and a major bug, actually stopping the programme from working (in this case) may work out to be a body-blow for a young OS, as many people still prefer private email over hotmail, gmail and the like. Rather than wait for a new full version, it would be better if another release candidate with the fix, could be downloaded and patched into an existing system.

Just my $0.02 worth. Hope it helps. :-)
