I am desperately trying to figure out how to change my current location and Firefox so that it is more accurate, for some reason it has me located 200 miles west of my actual location. I have attempted to turn settings on to allow for better location, I have cleared cach, I have done several searches and all attempts using those prompts have done nothing. My last resort would be to uninstall Firefox and reinstall but that will cause all my information, Ie: passwords, bookmarks, site permissions to be lost as far as I am aware. I have another Android phone using Firefox and it has no issue with my location. Please, please somebody tell me how to fix this issue.

Hi!

Version: FF Android 101.2.0 (plus other version stuff I can provide if needed), Android 12

Just thought I'd report this because it appears to be a consistent, reasonably long-standing issue (months) on a popular news site. Or is it "just me"?

Website: https://www.theguardian.com/uk (several million uniques visitors per month)

Expected behaviour: I am able to open various links on this website as backround tabs and continue browsing.

Actual behaviour: 1. After a couple are opened, Firefox for Android hangs for very close to 40 seconds then does a deep redraw/repaint of all tabs and continues to function until I next try to open another background tab from that website. 2. During the hang tab interface continues to redraw, but the pages are not repainted and no taps events work. 3. At the end of this hang time, the pages appear to redraw from scratch and the context pop-up for the third long-press appears on top of whichever tab I was looking at.

It is 100% repro for me -- long-press fails when attempting to open the 3rd background tab, but repaint failure occurs earlier. There is something toxic happening.

Curiously, when I next view my Android Home screen, there is some sort deep refresh/repaint, as if it has been swapped-out or GC'd etc.

e.g. Is there some massive memory blow-out happening?

Context/workarounds: 1. I have tried clearing all browsing data and using a guess account on the phone. 2. I have no addins installed. 3. Neither Chrome nor FF Desktop exhibit this behaviour. This ia FF Android specific

Thanks!

Ive collected an insane amount of pages in collections on my android phone. After syncing this and opening Firefox on a PC which does not understand collections I've lost all these links. Is this by design? I had such a nice recipe for potato asparagus salad which now is lost forever.

D told me to ask support here.

my Browser was running slow with having hundreds of tabs open (mostly in inactive section), especially after mobile browser update.

Then I just open Firefox, and everything is Gone.

I go download Firefox on my desktop to attempt to backup up any copy of open tabs.

there are none.

luckily I have my history from my mobile saved on to my desktop.

but from what I read and my understanding, there is no way to backup Firefox history, only bookmarks.

what am I suppose to do? any fix? any recovery to access open tabs? or backup history?

(Note; I have tabs on my mobile browser to Never delete tabs. this glitch is Firefox's problem. I probably would've backed up my tabs if it was still working to fix the slowness issue.)

When I open websites with embedded Instagram or TikTok videos there is a play icon in the embedded video, but when tapping the play icon the video will not play. My current solution is to copy the url and paste it into chrome where the videos play just fine, but I'd rather they played in Firefox. Does anyone have a solution for this?

I'm not sure what category this falls under, but Android is missing a critical feature: the save for offline viewing option, also known as the download page for offline viewing. Other Android browsers, such as Chrome and Samsung Internet, have this feature, but Firefox does not for inexplicable reasons. This should have been one of the first features added to the browser when it was released for the OS. It's been over a decade and this hasn't been resolved; what are you paying your programmers for if they can't integrate such a basic and necessary feature that everyone uses and requires? Please listen to the people.

I have this as a statement in my Playstore review, and Mozilla asked me to put it here as a question! But it really is NOT a question and they should have requested it as feedback instead. But I'll expand on it a bit here anyway. The problem involves keeping tabs open all the time. They should not lose their qualities but they do when you leave and then return latet to such a tab when it comes to Desktop Site selection. The flag still shows it as enabled but in actuality when you examine the page itself you find that it no longer behaves like it, and it won't even let you disable and then re-enable it to fix it! It just ignores your presses at that point! It's definitely a bug and it wasn't there earlier at some point although I'm not sure when it stopped working and might have even been with different Android versions being that I had only recently started using it on Android 11. But at some point in earlier Android versions it definitely had worked and the tabs we're also rearrangeable back then as well. The bottom line is that the problem isn't hard to reproduce...it's there CONSTANTLY and you just need to keep your tabs open all the time and try keeping them as desktop selected for them while working on other apps so that it temporarily dies in the background and then returning back and then you'll see right away that it has this problem.  :)

I have tried to keen a two year old version of Firefox for Android going but finally had to update. I have always used and supported Firefox since the start but I am now loosing my patience with the new development.

All I want is to open a new tab and it will take me straight to my homepage. Something that used to be a basic feature of using a search engine. Now days I have to tap about three times to select my homepage in Google.

I have seen this question asked before on this and no defined answer. I have tried everything.

Why do I have to have a custom Firefox page in every new tab, I don't care about all the noise from sites, preferences - I don't want to know some morose politicians wears pink frilly nickers every time I open a tab... All I want is to simply, easily start my search on Google again every time I open a new tab.

Not much to ask is it?

P.S Yes I have cleared all preferences on Firefox homepage tab. Set Google as my homepage & not using any customised jump back ins. My opening is also set to homepage- doesn't work

There are 226 questions that came up when I searched for "about: config". A lot of users have requested that "aboutconfig" be an option for users who want to solve some of their own problems. I'm not a developer and find that i can research and follow instructions to resolve and/or personalize FF using it.

So, what do we as users need to do to impress this upon developers to lut it back on FF android, heck, on all of the apps!

If someone fools around with it and creates their own issues, thats not on y'all ! They can reinstall or go back to correct, etc. PUT A WARNING LABEL ON IT if you need to. From what I've read, thats the main reason it was removed.

Why punish responsible users for those who aren't ????

How do we impress this upon FF ???

Hi, hope someone can help! When I close tabs on my Android (not all tabs but usually a few) when I open the app later I find the tabs have returned, is there anyway to make the tabs stay closed? Sometimes I'll close a few then find them randomly back next time I use Firefox. I've been using Firefox on Android for a long time and this has only just started happening. My laptop is not physically switched on so it is not syncing to that. Thanks in advance!

I had 1.1Gb of browsing history bogging down my Android phone, so I deleted history and cookies.

But now I need to search my browsing history (about a month back) to help resolve a medical issue.

Since I have Firefox Sync set up, could I find that history anywhere?
