M2 MacBook Air running macOS Ventura. When I open a website which wants access to my camera I am asked if I want to allow this. I say "Allow", and the light next to the builtin webcam turns green, but I see nothing in the camera sub-window on the webpage which was granted access. No error message, just no camera video is shown by the webpage. In the menu bar is a camera icon which I can click on and confirms I have "Allowed" camera access. Setting / Privacy / Permissions / Autoplay is set to Block Audio. I have verified the camera works with other apps (Photo Booth). How can I diagnose this?

Mod - please delete. I couldn't find a way to delete my question so I edited it. I had an issue but I think it's due to my Firefox being Enterprise managed. I tested the same thing on my personal laptop with Firefox and no issue.

Everyone says my audio sounds distorted in google video chat. I had been using it for months without issue on Firefox, and then I got a new Apple computer and people started to tell me I had this issue. In order to isolate the issue I tried going on Teams Video chat and Zoom video chat and people said my audio sounded fine there. Then I opened Google Video Chat in Google Chrome and people said my audio sounded fine there too. Lately, it's only when I'm on Firefox trying to use Google Video Chat (aka Google Meet) to video chat and people say my audio sounds way too distorted to hear what I'm saying. I restarted my computer, I even checked for the latest browser, which is up to date, I can't figure out how to fix this. Sounds like a firefox issue. Any ideas?

I noticed that a couple of times when I click on an external link on a mail or a bookmarked site as icon on my mac, Firefox closes all the tabs and open that link in a new window, so I lose all the tabs and address... Sometime I have more than 30 tabs open and i't difficult to reopen all from history. What happen? Why? I can't see also the "restore last session" command into History menu. Can be fix it? I cannot get firefox to update. It is set up for automatic updates but they don't happen. Even if I try manual installation of updates. Nothing works. I ran it in troubleshooting mode and the problem still exists. I restarted my computer and the problem still exists. I am using a mac running on Monterey.

I have the Dark Reader extension, because white screens HURT MY EYES. This is an accessibility issue! ALL of your support pages do not recognize or respond to the dark reader extension, and leave the page backgrounds WHITE! I can barely stand to write this! UGH! Thank you for fixing this!

SSIA for the most part. I am running firefox 124.0.1 on my macbook air and, only from certain senders, does the formatting look different from others - the font is different, and I can't highlight or click links. Almost seems like a picture instead of text - I can even click in the general area and it'll copy/paste it in Word like a picture.

Any suggestions?

The Command+M keyboard shortcut only minimizes Firefox one time after the initial boot of the system and stop working thereafter. Opening the Window menu in the top menu bar and then clicking minimize also fails to minimize Firefox. The only thing that works to minimize the Firefox window is clicking on the minimize bar on the top left of the window.

How do I get COMMAND + M to consistently minimize Firefox?

I love pocket but it is infuriating. I do something and a pocket page suddenly comes up with like 10 pictures and click links to articles. (And I don't know what I did to get this pocket page to come up. It happens when I do something online and I can't replicate it! It's always by accident. I google pocket and login but ti's not the same page with the same articles.) I see several articles I would like to read. I click on one and at least I can usually read that one, but then I go back and can't find the other articles I wanted to read and I cant get back to the same page displaying the articles. Now there are different articles! Today I clicked on one I wanted to read, was told to log in, which I did, then it took me to a pocket page which didn't have the article i wanted, and I cant find it. I also wanted to read another article and can't go back to find it either. This is infuriating! Can anyone help? And I doin't even know how to get back here to find your answer unless it goes to my email chaplaindon2000@gmail.com help!

I use Firefox stable on both my Mac and my Win 11 PC. On the mac i use the developer edition. The issue I have started about 2-3 weeks ago. Most of the time, playing youtube 4k videos just either freezes and doesn't buffer, or just skips and reloads. It is not a network issue. I've tried playing back the same video with ARC on OSX (which is based on chromium) and with Chome on windows. It works flawlessly so it's not a network issue. I've tried disabling adblocker, all the extensions, nothing. It's either Youtube messing with non google products again or a problem with Firefox itself. I even have Youtube premium and this stuff still happens without adblockers.

Any help would be appreciated.

Follow up question: A while ago, I changed the autoplay settings in about:config, but I noticed they reverted to default. Do these settings reset with major browser updates? Or could it be that the settings' names changed, resulting in the default value being applied? Should I periodically check these values to ensure they haven't changed?

Issue: I updated the settings in about:config as mentioned in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1440060 by cor-el. It appears to have stopped the autoplay of videos. However, after browsing Google News and Yahoo News articles for about 30 minutes, my browser crashes. This happens under the same usage pattern as before. The browser becomes unresponsive, and if I click on anything, I see the rainbow Apple spinning wheel. Eventually, I have to force quit the browser. See attached.

I have had this spam pop up 2 times when I was on Facebook through Firefox through DuckDuckGo. Could someone confirm that this is spam and how to fix it? Also, I would like to report it to Firefox and I can't find how to do that either. Thank you

On my Macbook air (m1 2020 14.3.1 (23D60)) /etc/hosts is ignored by Firefox 123

i've tried multiple offered (old) solutions from stack but non work.

FAILED ATTEMPTS:

• DNS over https -> off
• network.trr.excluded-domains ... tried to add the domains in the dns over https exeptions ... didn't work either
• added the domains to network.trr.excluded-domains
• cleared cache
• restart ff
• migrating all my /etc/hosts config from multiple domains on a single line to separate lines did. Hope this helps someone.
• network.ttr.mode = 5
• sudo dscacheutil -flushcache; sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder in the terminal

Background: I run my own server and I cannot access them over the internet if I am on the same network (rounter dissallows this) This is annoying as I cannot develop via my laptop.

/etc/hosts is changed and in the terminal all (ssh etc...) works fine.

What is the proper way of doing this these days?

Firefox does not automatically create a new empty window on startup. Neither starting from "applications" nor clicking icon in the dock

Instead once has to right click the icon then click "New Window"

Why is it that the people who "improve" products are always dickering with the look and feel to no benefit to the user? Why suddenly does a new empty window not open? Fantastic job Mozilla. It takes me an hour or so to figure out how to even get a window with the default web page URL and then I have to perform forever after three clicks instead on one.

I have a suggestion. The next time you think about changing the look and feel: DON'T. It is just that simple. DON'T.

While I was browsing an open tab I moved my cursor over to the Bookmarks icon and the cursor automatically enlarged itself. I expect the cursor to remain at its normal size when I hover over the bookmarks icon but instead it became larger. I cannot reproduce the error unfortunately.
