Mary Pat's laptop has been having problems opening programs using Firefox. After several hours, I went to Uninstall. found the Refresh Firefox button. Used it and it seemed to work. Mary Pat went back to her computer and I came back to this computer. On my laptop I showed her how to Control Panel, Uninstall, Mozilla Firefox, Uninstall, Refresh Firefox. Now both computers are have the same intermittent problem. When I finish this question, I will try Firefox one more time. Any more Error messages opening websites including Google, Amazon, Dualingo, I will be changing to a different web browser until you can tell me you found the problem and have fixed the problem.

I have uninstalled firefox about 4 times and tried everything I was told. I like firefox but not the hundred bookmarks.Will lose a good browser but bookmarks do have to go. this is my last try

To open one of my email addresses always requires a secondary security key to be entered from my android phone after I enter my password. None of my other email addresses requires this. How do I delete that nuisance secondary requirement?

Also, how can my passwords for each email address be saved so I dont have to enter passwords every time I want to open an email? They were saved in the past but something has changed so now they are not saved. I have gone thru the saving passwords info instructions but still they are not being saved. Why not and how do I fix?

Hello, I am concerned about malware from third party modules in my firefox browser. I keep getting this popup for updating firefox, even after updating i used to get this popup - I dont think Firefox update every few days. I signed in yesterday and instead of getting Bing as my home page, I got Norton Safe Search. Never asked for Norton and don't want it. How do I get Bing back? There was some reference which said in effect that the home page was changed by 'an extension' and that it could be changed but no indication on how to do that. I recently downloaded Windows 11 from Windows 10.

Hey, I hope you all have a nice day. I just wondered... On Mozillas website it sais that all passwords are encrypted by the users masterpassword. But I did not find the exact description how the passwords are still encrypted when the user chages the masterpassword.

It should go like this:

-User enters in the process of changing his password his current one.

-Server sends all encrypted Passwords to Client

-Client decryptes passwords

-User enters new Password twice

-Client encryptes all passwords and sends them to the server again

I wonder if this is the case. I would appreciate it if someone could link a site where this is described for the passwordmanager.

Hi all, My C drive filled itself with 50GB of Crusader Kings 3 crash logs.

While the drive was (unknowingly) full, I opened firefox. Firefox was...wonky...and instantly I could tell something was wrong, as my speeddial homepage was missing all the sites. My best guess is that, in the worst timing ever, firefox sync chose this time to sync. I immediately cleared space on the drive, and restarted firefox. No extension data recovered. I restarted the PC. No extension data recovered.

I began following Firefox troubleshooting steps, such as checking about:profile. Other profiles are present, but each lacks any extensions or extension data. I widened my search with Everything, to search everywhere for any waylaid installs or profiles that may hold backups. Specifically, prefs.js, extensions.json, firefox.exe (incase I was somehow running a non-default install location) or any sign of other installations. I did find some hits, but none had extensions installed.

Perhaps useful, my FF profile weave folder is populated with many CORRUPT files, and the 'failed' folder lists addons, bookmarks, clients, extension-storage and prefs from it's most recent sync. Perhaps this is the result of trying to write to a full disk?

This is mostly an exercise of curiosity now, as the developer of Group Speed Dial (Juraj Mäsiar) helped me recover from their own backup system seperate from the Mozilla Preferences. I have an easy way to see if any backup file has the correct data, as I have many settings that are instantly visible.

(Moz Helpers, the remainder of this post is irrelevant, and purely to help future travellers) If a weary traveller comes across this post in the future, I gift you my knowledge from the year 2023 of Group Speed Dial. At this time, the way you access the backups on your system is to navigate to the Group Speed Dial homepage. If you are on the default homepage, you should find the option to set it as New Tab or Homepage in Firefox settings. Next, as you face the oblivion of an empty dialler page, click the Burger Menu (top-right for me) for the extension. NOT the firefox burger menu, the one as if you were clicking a menu in a website. For me, the Fourth option is History/Backups. This is a new-ish feature from the developer, so don't be surprised if it move around...be they seem very proud of it, so I imagine it lurks somewhere!

If you just want to recover your extension list, at this time you can find a complete list of everything by examining extensions.js, extension-settings.js and extension-preferences.js. There is a tool online for helping parse into a human readable table, but I would not rely on it, and instead look into a generic JSON formatter to make the data human readable. My list of sorted bookmarks is extensive with many folders and subcategories etc.

I'm able to open all the tabs in the 'Library' but don't really see a way to print to PDF this list. Is it possible to get a list of bookmarks and all the files in each folder?

I HAVE YAHOO WIDER MAIL EXTENSION IN FIREFOX & HAVE BEEN USING IT FOR SEVERAL YEARS BUT NOW THERE IS NO ICON IN MY MENU BAR FOR YAHOO MAIL. YAHOO IS STILL MY DEFAULT SEARCH ENGINE. WHAT CAN I DO? GODDAMN IT. Typed my info and some other link opens and wiped out everything I had typed here, that really pisses me off. Firefox is getting to be nothing but a damn headache now and I'm NOT going to try and retype all that info all over again and re-explain it, that's a load of horse manure, especially when my info typed SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN DELETED by some stupid automated crap! Spent too much time on this already and just WASTED my damn time!
