I have Firefox version 100.0 (64-bit) and version 122.0.1 (64-bit) installed somehow. Both versions when you click on Help>About Firefox say they are up to date.

I can uninstall the 122.0.1 version. I cannot uninstall the 100.0 version.

100.0 says it is up to date but in the top right corner there is a box that says: Update available Firefox couldn't update automatically. Download the new version - you won't lose saved information or customizations.

If I tell it to download I get the 122.0.1 version installed separately from the 100.0 version.

How do I get only ONE installation of Firefox?

I just wrote this blog post and someone suggested I contact you.

I have my default browser set to Firefox on Linux (Debian Bookworm). When I open an http:// or https:// URL, it opens in Firefox, but when I open a file:/// URL, it opens in Chromium. It seems that file:/// URL makes it resort to the MIME type.

Is there anything Firefox can do here or is this a Debian or freedesktop.org issue?

Thanks!

Dear Community,

when using a virtual machine with firefox, during navigating in a coding environment or pressing the "arrow up" key in a command window to re-run the last code, the "Passwörter verwalten" icon appears.

In english it is probably called "manage passwords". That thing is driving me crazy. How can I deactivate that it appears, when pressing the arrow key?

Thank you Greetings

Problem niestety pozostał. Bardzo proszę o pomoc. Pozdrawiam Bogaczewicz Bogusława.

Profile: https://share.firefox.dev/490blHh

Subject says it all, but it seems to occur with any site, anytime I try to open more than three or four tabs (ctrl-clicking links on a forum, for example) my Firefox instance grinds to a halt and starts consuming most of my CPU (Ryzen 5 3600).

I've tried turning off Firefox's various protections. I tried troubleshooting (formerly "safe") mode, and the problem isn't as bad but is still present as far as I can tell. The only extension I can think that would be making it worse is Tree Style Tab, but I don't know enough about interpreting Firefox profiles to verify.

The only reason I consider this odd is because doing the same thing in Chrome doesn't have this issue on this same device. If I open many tabs quickly, Chrome itself is still responsive. Those newly opened tabs may take a while to load and become interactive, but it doesn't affect the rest of the application. I pay my ISP for gigabit DSL, and as far as I can tell that is roughly what I get. In my case, Firefox doesn't behave this way.

I am using Firefox 122.0.1, Windows 11 with all latest updates. Recently my HP Laptop has been slow to respond. I rebooted and opened task manager. I started Firefox and it was using about 1500 MB of memory. I closed some tabs to try to recover some memory. However, Firefox kept taking more, more and more. After 15 minutes, it was at 10,000 MB and climbing, and my system was using 99% of memory. I don't believe Firefox did this in the past and this is clearly not working properly. Any ideas?

Hi, the latest update changed what happens when pressing the enter key in dev tools. There's a complete explanation somewhere explaining the motivation, accessibilty and it being more natural/intuitive.

After years using Firefox I can honestly say it isn't as natural as described and the whole process has become very cumbersome. I can understand wanting to provide a more natural experience and give users with accessibility needs a good experience but for me it's not working.

Is there any way to turn the feature off? A setting perhaps?

If not can you tell me which version should I install which doesn't have this updated dev tools UI feature?

Many thanks

Note: Please read my reply to the post, below, for an update.

I like to have new tabs open at the end of my tab stream so that each new tab opens in consecutive order. This is only inconvenient when I have a lot of tabs and need to scroll to the end for the latest. Because I was working with a lot of tabs today I toggled the following to "true" in about:config —

browser.tabs.insertAfterCurrent = true browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent = true

The issue I'm having is that after toggling back to false, new tabs continue to open after the current tab, rather than at the end as before.

I'm not clear on the difference between related and unrelated, so I've experimented toggling one on, one off and neither or both but for some reason the behavior continues to default to opening new tabs after current in each case.

I have also tried restarting both Firefox and the computer, but this has not had any effect, either.

I have included a screen shot of the present settings and behavior.

Hello, For whatever reason, I can't view Youtube livestreams or movies, and the quality on regular videos is limited to 360p only (with some offering the upgrade to 720p - though this often causes the video player to freeze). I've tried disabling my adblocker, my other various plugins, even opening the blocked content in a private window or troubleshooting mode - still no dice. Is this yet another one of Youtube's anti-firefox tricks? is there any way to fix/bypass this?

Hi, this is the same issue as as described here for Mozilla Thunderbird: 64bit Thunderbird issues with 64bit PKCS#11 drivers

– Firefox 122.0 (64-bit) – Windows 11 Pro 64bit (– Thunderbird 64bit)

Even though, I use a 64bit version of Firefox, it is not able to load any 64bit PKCS#11 module for security devices. Tried on several different PCs and several different 64bit PKCS#11 drivers for different smart cards.

When I try to load e.g. C:\Windows\SysWOW64\eop2v1czep11.dll for the Czech eID, it returns "Unable to add module". When I do the same from C:\Windows\System32\eop2v1czep11.dll, it works.

The issue is that some issuers of qualified and commercial certificates (like e.g. Komerční banka) do not issue a 32bit version of PKCS#11 drivers for their smart cards anymore and the only driver available is C:\Windows\SysWOW64\mopkcs11.dll, which cannot be loaded by Firefox or Thunderbird either.

I don't see a problem in implementing the support for 64bit PKCS drivers in a 64bit browser and a 64bit email client. And if it does have the support, then there is something wrong going on.

Spent 2 hours on Mozilla support/community etc. No answers – including 'make a new profile'...(& why - won' that affect history etc)?

Would be very grateful for any help please?

I'm not sure how this happened, but one of my firefox web pages keeps zooming in only on one website and the zoom refuses to reset no matter what I do.

For reference this is wikipedia. Every time I load a wikipedia page it loads zoomed in to 210%, which I will then have to reset to 100% in order to read the page properly. If I for some reason click on a link on the wikipedia page that goes to another wikipedia page, the zoom will reset again to 210%, which I will then need to reset once again. This happens also whenever I switch from the wikipedia tab to another tab and then switch back again. I do have an addon that changes wikipedia slightly (the Wikipedia Vector Skin addon) but disabling this addon doesn't fix the issue.

I went into about:config several times already and changed different settings to try and make it stop, but nothing so far has worked. I've tried resetting layout.css.devPixelsPerPx to 1.0 and back again to -1.0 and it makes no difference. I also tried changing browser.zoom.full to false and it keeps happening. Changing browser.zoom.siteSpecific to false does fix the issue, however it also resets the zoom I have on other websites that I want to keep, so it's not an ideal fix. I also cleared all my cache and cookies and it changed nothing.

Does anyone have any idea on why this keeps happening only with wikipedia, and how I can get this to stop happening? I assume there must be some internal setting that would need to be reset in order to fix this, but I don't know how to do it or where I would even go.

What the title says, and unfortunately I'm not sure why. If a theme isn't perfectly looped, it's...really noticeable. And I hate how ugly some themes turn out as a result. I don't want to start sticking my hands directly into firefox's advanced settings, since I don't know much about them and don't want to risk accidentally deleting or messing with something important, but I'd really like to get this fixed somehow... Is it just the themes I'm picking? Are they supposed to all be skewed off to the side? Or is something off with my browser? Maybe my resolution's weird or something...?

I'm running FF 122.0. I've set default search engine to DuckDuckgo. Won't do it. Then I deleted Google from the list of search engines in settings, after first unchecking it. When I open FF it still defaults to Google - why and how do I stop this? I'm in Canada if that makes a difference (it defaults on startup to www.google.ca). One time it loaded duckduckgo but then google.ca took over - that was when I'd unchecked google and before I deleted it completely. Now it just goes straight to google, help!

Hi. I am running a 3 monitor setup and I like to keep open quite a few tabs. And two windows of Firefox. So two Firefox instances with several tabs on each. But because it eats a lot of memory, I have to close and reopen Firefox from time to time. And to my annoyance, sometimes it "forgets" about one of the windows. So opens only one instead of both. Therefore I loose some quite important tabs. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Thank you.
