I find it annoying that I have the Find tool on, then open another page in a tab and it's off, or navigate away from a page and have the Find box go away. That box isn't very big and in the way, and it would much better to keep that box open ALL THE TIME. Having to press CTRL+F evertime I need it, is painful. Okay, so I'm lazy! But I don't think it would impair the user's ability to view a page. That row it sits in is as high as only one line of text!

How about implementing this, Mozilla? I mean, your browser is the browser of choice. It's superb at viewing images and retrieving image information. It plays Youtubes and other videos flawlessly. It's as fast as Google's Chrome at performing a search across the net. Firefox wrocks! It would only wrock a little more if one could enable this feature and leave it on all the time. I do a lot of research, and finding a phrase on a page at Wikipedia or elsewhere is performed often. So let's allow new tabs to have the tool on if it is already on, and let's leave it on until we purposely turn it off.

Please?

I have changed the settings in about:config, and also with options in the tools menu on Firefox, and I am still having problems, specifically with Fox News, but also other sites that allow a video to automatically play and blast audio. It is very disconcerting that there doesn't seem to be a way to stop this from happening. Can you help? I am using Firefox 86.

I can't find a way to enlarge the font size in menu or bookmarks toolbar, or the drop down menu and the bookmarks themselves. It is ridiculously miniscule and I have to use a magnifier to see it - I have Fuchs Dystrophy so my eyesight varies from day to day, but 16-18 size is usually ok. Can anyone point the way if any please?

Many thanks Teresa

I welcomed the Picture-in-Picture feature to the Mac, which allowed me to watch YouTube videos while performing other tasks.

Recently when I have clicked on the Picture-in-Picture icon, the view does the exact opposite of what I want to occur. I want a small window that I can move around and resize. Instead, the video goes Full Screen.

I've tried right-clicking on the icon and on the video, double-right-clicking, looking through Firefox settings, updating to the latest version, etc. -- but stiill don't know how to recover the Picture-in-Picture feature. How do I get that back? Thank you.

Recently, I updated Firefox (as it regularly bothers me to do so) and it added an annoying new feature that appears whenever I type anything into the address bar. It used to just provide search suggestions from my list of bookmarks, but now below the list of search options is a separate segment with "This time, search with:" followed by multiple icons--in my case, Google (my default browser), bookmarks, tabs, history, and settings. And you know how when you're sometimes typing something you want to find and the desired result is toward the bottom of the list, so instead of pressing the down arrow key to get to it, you press the up arrow to start from the end…well now, when I try that on the address bar, it cycles through each icon before letting me get to the list's end.

I know it sounds like a petty complaint, but it's annoying and inconvenient to have to do it each and every time since it's habitual to cycle from top to bottom or vice versa on basically every other search bar. I went the route of "Settings > Options > Search > Search Shortcuts" to see if I could get rid of these icons, but just like how it doesn't let you get rid of search engines when you only have one on the list, it doesn't give you an option to remove these superfluous icons.

These Mozilla dumbasses seem to lack foresight and/or consideration with the way they limit user preferences. Can anybody give me any alternative solutions? Please spare me the snide answers like "switch to Chrome" (already considering it). If there's a way to simply circumvent these icons in the address bar rather than getting rid of them entirely, that would be more that enough: I just don't know how to go about it. Anyway, thank you for taking the time to read my submission/rant.

Hi, The alternate search shortcuts are an excellent feature. Prior to a recent Firefox update, I was able to enter a search term and click once on one of the alternate search engine icons to perform the search with that engine.

Currently, I need to click the icon, e.g. Wikipedia, and confirm the request by pressing Enter or clicking the new item in the entry in the address bar drop-down, "Search with Wikipedia" (screenshot attached).

Is there an item in the about:config settings to revert this change and perform this search with a single click on the icon?

Thank you.

Hello,

I am looking for a way to hide my tab bar when there is only one tab open. I almost found the solution there: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1297983 But it is not exactly what i am looking for. This solution hides the tab but not the tab bar it self. I mean it leaves some black empty space because i use dark theme.

I kept looking for a solution to hide the container. I found this one: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1271391 The problem is: this solution hides all the time the tab bar. No maters how many tabs opened.

I experimented mixing these two solution. I have try:

  1. tabbrowser-tabs tab[first-visible-tab="true"][last-visible-tab="true"] + #mainwindow:not([tabsintitlebar="true"]) #TabsToolbar {
 visibility: collapse;

}

I tried the other way around, with "#mainwindow" first. I tried without the "+" sign. But none worked out.

Users have been complaining about update nags for several years, and when a solution is found via about:config, Mozilla typically puts a spanner in the works and deletes the relevant config items like 'app.update.silent', 'app.update.doorhanger... etc.

I just want to remove the popup, not the ability to update. I'll update when I'm good and ready, and I don't need a popup each and every day nagging me to do so.

If Mozilla must ape Chrome, then aping Chrome's non-nagging update policy would be a good move.

When I go to a web page which is a PDF, the web page used to load as a PDF. Now there are 2 tabs, one is blank and has an address which refers to the PDF location, and the other is a PDF saved to the Temp folder (eg. file:///C:/Users/USER/AppData/Local/Temp/some_PDF.pdf)

My preference is: www.some_website/some_PDF.pdf

This is because I save the tabs, and the next time I use Firefox, the temporary PDF is not loaded anymore. As well, I prefer 1 tab instead of 2.

Where is the setting to adjust?

Here's all I want. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. When I start Mozilla Firefox I want it to open with three tabs... ❶ https://www.goese.com/favorites/index.htmlhttps://www.goese.com/reference/unicode.htmlhttps://messages.google.com/web/conversations

From then on, when I click on the home button, I only want the tab/page I'm viewing to switch to this page... https://www.goese.com/favorites/index.htmlhttps://www.goese.com/favorites/index.html

Is Firefox capable of doing this? (Chrome is, but got WAY too slow recently...to a point I couldn't take it anymore.) Right now if I use those three pages for startup, the home button opens a new session in all three pages, which makes no sense to me. I need to be able to specify different & separate pages for "startup" and "home." I'm old so I'm probably just looking at the interface wrong.

Thanks!
