Many of the websites I access ask if I want them to remember my login info--username and password. For those that I trust, I indicate that I want them to remember this information, and for most I get an e-mail confirming that my device is registered. However, the next time I log in, I still have to go through the entire login. Is this a Firefox issue, and if so, how can I correct this?

Just a little while ago, I wrote about how Firefox updated and now my Gmail "stars' are gone, I cannot access my work Webmail, and PBS Passport is a problem.

I forgot to mention that I play NYT Spelling Bee, and until this update, I could click on "Today's Hints" and see that page. Now a picture winks in for a second or less, and then the screen is blank.

Something is definitely haywire with Firefox if so many disparate sites are a problem, right?

When I click on the link for Hyperallergic Magazine, the page doesn't load. I don't have it blocked in Notifications. I have allowed pop-up windows for it. I can't figure out what else might be preventing it from loading. It is free. I don't have this problem with any other website that I know of. I'm running the latest version of Firefox & have Windows 11 on a one-year-old PC. I didn't have this problem in my old computer, which ran Windows 7. Please help. Thanks.

A few hours ago, when I woke the computer from overnight sleep, Firefox (fully updated) was suddenly completely unresponsive. It is not an Internet issue. As you see, Edge works fine. I'm online, but Firefox isn't.

I tried reinstalling, which appeared to work. With the new install, I was only able to open the app with the administrator option, which didn't bother me. All my bookmarks were in place and settings and extensions showed as I've had them for years. Unfortunately, all I can do with newly installed Firefox is look at it. I can enter an address manually, but no response other than showing my typing. No bookmarks will open. Browser Menu items appear to open, but mostly do not follow to their content pages.

I did get to the Mozilla troubleshooting page from the menu, and tried a refresh, which of course eliminated my security extensions and bookmarks, but had no other impact on the program. It still looks like Firefox, but is an empty shell. (See troubleshooting information pasted in place below.)

I've never seen anything like this before with any app. It has been days since my last windows update, BTW. There were no problems with it. Everything else is OK with this computer. Firefox just turned into an empty shell, but everything else is normal.

I've been using the Mozilla browser since Netscape. I strongly prefer Firefox to any other browser. I can live without it, I guess, but I won't be very happy.

Has anyone else encountered this dead Firefox situation? If so, what fixed it?

I dont care what you are going to say to make it sound okay, it is NOT OKAY AT ALL. Mozilla Firefox supposed to be a Privacy Browser is not making business with Meta -> Facebook, lately i really question the mental health of Mozilla, first a unique identifier, now a partnership with zucking facebook, what's next? Let me tell you something, if you are a privacy company then get the zuck away from companies who don't give a damn zuck about privacy -> facebook, mozilla can NOT simply make a deal with facebook and claim "oh dont worry it's ok your privacy is secure, bullsh!t.

You know what, i have been using Firefox since i first accessed the internet with a webbrowser, now hear this -> one more negative thing from mozilla and that's it, bye mozilla you have lost your way.

While this is only me speaking here, MANY people have already quit firefox because of what mozilla has been doing recently. Continue what you are doing now, and soon your greatest product -> firefox will be dead. When privacy partners with tracking & spyware this is the definition of suicidal behaviour. I really worry about Mozillas Mental Health lately.

I will copy paste this post to a few other mozilla releated forums, let's see how long it stays on before censorship happens.

Here a few comments from reddit users on this topic:

The article says what it says, but we all have a long memory of Facebook/ Rebranded Facebook being a company that is horrible, and not to be trusted when they put out a press release. -Nailed it

I’ve been using Firefox since like 2002. I never stopped. I really hope I don’t have to soon. I will give them the benefit of the doubt. -Nailed it

Facebook is one company you should keep away as far as possible. -Nailed it

Then read the article, and see that this is a case of Mozilla working with Meta to maintain privacy. -This person must have mental issues, time to see a doctor asap!

Hello, sadly I have the problem since a few days that firefox opens a new tab with the same error every time I google something or click on a new page/subpage etc. The URL on the error page is all the time "https://0.0.0.1/" mentention of course a page loading error. I don't know why firefox keeps oppening new tabs with this URL. I allrady tried to use the clearing function and even reinstalled the software, nothing worked. Maybe somebody can help me solving this problem, it is very annoying to have multiple new error-tabs per minute in a normal work flow. Thanks and best regards, Thomas

It turns out the copied logins-backupjson file i had pasted on my desktop screen was already overwritten by an added or removed login, thus writing over when it did have the saved login removed that i was trying to recover

is there any other way to recover the removed login?

i saw this response by Cor-el for another user with a similar situation

If you still have the signons.sqlite that was used in a previous Firefox version then you can try to restore passwords saved in that file.

Firefox 32 and later builds store the passwords in the logins.json file in the profile folder and no longer use the signons.sqlite file that has been used before (the matching key3.db file is still needed). If you still have the signons.sqlite file used in previous Firefox versions then you can try to force Firefox to migrate the passwords saved in that file (you will lose passwords saved in Firefox 32+ versions). You can force Firefox to reimport the passwords from the signons.sqlite file and rebuild the logins.json file with these steps:

reset the signon.importedFromSqlite pref on the about:config page to the default value via the right-click context menu
delete the logins.json file in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed

When you restart Firefox then you should have the signon.importedFromSqlite pref with the value set to true and you should have the passwords imported in the Password Manager unless there may have been errors.
