Confused as to why there 44 instances of FF showing up in task manager. Win 11.

ANy help appreciated.

My PC is running v slow.

No viruses as per MWBytes scan.

Labelled as "Firefox Sync" as it may be involved, as the only preserved data is seemingly what comes through firefox sync.

Hi all, My C drive filled itself with 50GB of Crusader Kings 3 crash logs.

While the drive was (unknowingly) full, I opened firefox. Firefox was...wonky...and instantly I could tell something was wrong, as my speeddial homepage was missing all the sites. My best guess is that, in the worst timing ever, firefox sync chose this time to sync. I immediately cleared space on the drive, and restarted firefox. No extension data recovered. I restarted the PC. No extension data recovered.

I began following Firefox troubleshooting steps, such as checking about:profile. Other profiles are present, but each lacks any extensions or extension data. I widened my search with Everything, to search everywhere for any waylaid installs or profiles that may hold backups. Specifically, prefs.js, extensions.json, firefox.exe (incase I was somehow running a non-default install location) or any sign of other installations. I did find some hits, but none had extensions installed.

Perhaps useful, my FF profile weave folder is populated with many CORRUPT files, and the 'failed' folder lists addons, bookmarks, clients, extension-storage and prefs from it's most recent sync. Perhaps this is the result of trying to write to a full disk?

This is mostly an exercise of curiosity now, as the developer of Group Speed Dial (Juraj Mäsiar) helped me recover from their own backup system seperate from the Mozilla Preferences. I have an easy way to see if any backup file has the correct data, as I have many settings that are instantly visible.

(Moz Helpers, the remainder of this post is irrelevant, and purely to help future travellers) If a weary traveller comes across this post in the future, I gift you my knowledge from the year 2023 of Group Speed Dial. At this time, the way you access the backups on your system is to navigate to the Group Speed Dial homepage. If you are on the default homepage, you should find the option to set it as New Tab or Homepage in Firefox settings. Next, as you face the oblivion of an empty dialler page, click the Burger Menu (top-right for me) for the extension. NOT the firefox burger menu, the one as if you were clicking a menu in a website. For me, the Fourth option is History/Backups. This is a new-ish feature from the developer, so don't be surprised if it move around...be they seem very proud of it, so I imagine it lurks somewhere!

If you just want to recover your extension list, at this time you can find a complete list of everything by examining extensions.js, extension-settings.js and extension-preferences.js. There is a tool online for helping parse into a human readable table, but I would not rely on it, and instead look into a generic JSON formatter to make the data human readable. I need to follow many hyperlinks. Everything worked fine and the followed hyperlinks changed from blue to purple. In the last 2 days, they stay blue. I have gone to settings and reset it multiple times, but the only way I can get the change is to make the screen high contrast, which I do not want. I have refreshed Firefox. I have the latest update (which might be what changed). What is the problem?

For some sites, it gives correct english password. But for a personal site, my password is shown as encrypted, which i have not encrypted. The password is shown, but i could not understand why it shows as encrypted with alpha numerical numbers. how do i turn that to english and keep this as a password. I have never supplied encrypted characters. please give me solution . Does the firefox auto encrypt why it is not user friendly then

This past week loading of pages has been glitchy - anyone else experiencing this? Never had the problem before. Not experiencing the problem on Vivaldi (which I use as a backup).

My company IT department recently reset everything on my work computer, so I am trying to get Firefox to look the way it looked two weeks ago. I am on a PC, and I used to have the options for history, bookmarks, etc. in drop-down menus above the tabs bar. How do I get that back?

When in try to get my phone number VERIFYED, And i ask your site to send a verification code to my E-Mail, ""[edited] @kleppnett.no"", i get Nothing, not even in my spam filter.????

Is There Anybody knowledgable enoughf at you customer division who can tell me whats wrong..... I tryed 2-3 times to try to get the verificatiuon code to the same of my 3 E-Mails..... I signed into mozilla firefox on my father's computer at his home. I was visiting for the week and forgot my laptop. I logged his firefox account, then signed in with my details. Now I am seeing all of my father's login credentials when I am logged in to my firefox account at my home. I am not sure how it happened but I would like to not see my father's credentials for every website. Thank you.

For some reason I got a new laptop and install the latest firefox version, however, very often happens that my pointer doesn't change according to the options I am selecting (unless I click on them). To fix it, I have to restart the browser every time. It's annoying because for example, if I select some text to copy it, it will not be highlighted until I finish (unclick), just until then it will highlight the text, but not during the process. Also, the wheel of my mouse won't scroll the page up and down when clicking at it (but I still can scroll without clicking it). All these issues get fixed once I restart the whole browser.

Any ideas? do you think by downgrading firefox this could be fixed?

I want to use Firefox, not Chrome, for my information transfers to Centrelink etc. Firefox stalls - stays blank below - every time I expect to get further info when I have filled in data. This is not so on Chrome, where the next step is revealed after filling in a segment of info/data.

problem with clearing cookies and site data cpu firefox.exe rises to 60% and the browser itself starts to blunt and hang the whole process takes 15 minutes

also the question is why there is no setting where data that is more than a year itself is not deleted?

I had all my bookmarks saved on Firefox on my laptop, and I bought a new laptop, and signed in to Firefox, and I thought that all my bookmarks would automatically populate onto my new laptop's Firefox browser. Am I mistaken that that is a feature that it has? If not, how can I make that happen.

I am unable to remove the Stupid puzzle button. From what i read it's intended. Each time more companies act more and more overbearing, fortunately we have

variety.

As i found no solution, i am removing the application. And severely criticize it with those whom i speak and suggest a change.

I have an old Firefox account/accounts that is no longer used and there have been attempts to access it by someone other than me, I very much would like it deleted and and my data associated with that/those accounts removed, there have been several attempts by someone to gain access to it, i would resolve it myself but i also have no access to it anymore or associated email (mediamonkeysolutions494) and i was forced to create the current account that i am on, which is fine im ok with this, but as for my old account/accounts it needs to go so that i can have peace of mind, if support could contact me I would be grateful. again it is not this account that needs attention, but an old account/accounts no longer used, yes I have had user difficulties with recovering accounts at the time hence is why i created my current one i use
