When I scroll down to look at recent posts on Facebook groups I follow all but the top one has suddenly lost its date/time – I just get a blank where the details would usually be and have to hover over to reveal the details. The silly thing is that this only happens when I sign in and it doesn’t happen when I use chrome – although I prefer using Firefox, not least because the bookmarks sidebar is better. I have tried getting rid of all extensions and running in troubleshoot mode but without success. Any help/advice would be appreciated (as long as it is not about football!)

What is the "Find in page" toolbar called?

The 113.0.1 update (sic) moved it to the bottom of my page. I want to search for a way to restore it back to the upper part of the page (probably using userChrome).

(Note: I was happy with my setup in 112.0.2)

The last update 113.0.1 was when I really noticed it being slow. None of the current suggestions have any effect. I have restarted several times, cleared cookies and history, flushed dns and have gone through all settings. Privacy is set at "standard" and not using a VPN and have turned off add blockers with no effect either. I have to check, but I don't think I have any add-ons except for color on home page.

If I do a speed test, ping is kinda slow, download is half what it should be at times, and every test shows ZERO upload all using several sites to test from . The only thing not done is shutting down av which I won't do. Anyone else seeing this issue? Any other suggestions than the go-to stuff here? Windows 10

Who wants to hunt down their cryptically named profile? Who knows where it is? Why put us through this? Do they enjoy aggravating their users or are they just mentally deranged? Why, why, why? Who else does this kind of idiotic behavior? I can't think of a single other program that would elect to erase all of the setup we've painstakingly done for nothing.

All I did was go to the original location to check something and clicked firefox.exe. Then Poof. Did they just do a major update recently? Like today? When it checks for updates it says its up to date but it said that a few days ago I think. Version 113.0.1. I can't even find the previous profile. I see only one file under Firefox\App\bin that says "sqlite3.exe" which I think is how they name themselves. A rational person would name it PROFILE of course. But we're in the realm of the insane.

I do see "profile" in Firefox\Data though but its filled with dozens of files. And there's no indication of any other profiles there. There are several extensions there and as mine were wiped out maybe this is the old profile?

A sensible mind would simply tell us when there's a major update and how to recover everything.

Whenever I try to download a file from google drive, I get: "The page isn’t redirecting properly An error occurred during a connection to drive.google.com. This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies."

Downloading google docs files from drive works fine, they convert to word and save to my downloads like normal. But downloading image files or pdfs yields this error. Right-clicking and downloading them from the folder view just does nothing. There is no difference between shared files and my own drive files. This error only happens in firefox, I can download files on microsoft edge just fine.

This has been happening for a few weeks now. Things I've tried:

-clearing cookies and cache -restarting firefox, restarting computer -checking for updates and updating firefox -disabling all my add-ons -clearing startup cache -adding drive.google.com and google.com to the exceptions for enhanced tracking protection -switching from standard to custom and unchecking cookies from the list of trackers and scripts to block, then clearing all cookies and cache -attempting to download in firefox troubleshoot mode -attempting to download in incognito mode -refreshing firefox -re-installing firefox by following the steps here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1233618 -turned off real-time protection on computer antivirus (default for windows 10) -turned off microsoft defender firewall

I don't even know what else I can try. I assume it's a firefox error because this only happens using firefox on my laptop - I use firefox mobile and can download the same files on my phone. Does anyone have any advice?

I've asked this question a long time ago, and received no answers. I resorted to resetting it every time, however a new problem has come about, forcing me to ask again.

Whenever I open my browser, my tabs have reset themselves to default width. I prefer them at a wider width, so I navigate to about:config and edit the browser.tabs.tabMinWidth to 100. I have to do this every time.

However, for some reason doing this now also hides/removes tab close buttons on each tab, which is problematic to my style of browsing.

I had an userCSS file, but even after removing it as a test, the problem persists. If it matters, my style of browsing has me keep two windows open at any given time. I did try to change it with only one window open, but the change did not stick.

Only tab-specific add-ons I have are FoxyTab and a tab suspender.

Any help is appreciated, be it making sure the tab close buttons do not disappear, or be it making sure the tabs remain at minimum of 100 width.

I just spent 15 minutes browsing and downloading a lot of images. When I was done I looked at my downloads folder and saw only half of them there. I checked the download history in firefox, and couldn't see some files. They were not queued or in progress. They weren't in the download list at all.

I reproduced this. I downloaded an image again. Right click, save as, click save. Then that image doesn't appear in the download history.

I tried some variations. Hitting enter instead of clicking save. Opening the image in a new tab and using ctrl-s.

Still, no image in the download history or on disk.

I quit firefox and re-openned. Still the file didn't appear on disk or in the download history.

Then I kept trying, and I got a second issue, which I think is related.

Often when I save an image, instead of one window popping up asking me where to save it, I get a second window popping up ontop of that, then a third, then a fourth. All ontop of each other. All asking the same thing. They take the focus, so it's not possible to interact with the main firefox window to continue browsing.

Sometimes if I hit enter literally 50 times then it will save the same image repeatedly, and eventually I can go back to browsing.

Sometimes there's more than 50 popup windows (my hunch is more than 100). My only solution then is to quit firefox forcefully. Which is annoying if I have state in other tabs that I don't want to lose.

This has happened many times over many weeks. It only happens on some file saves. I can't figure out why it happens on some, not others. (Right click > save, and also ctrl-s, they both do the same thing.)

This form won't let me attach a screen recording. Only screenshots. That's annoying because you can't really see the behavior from the screenshot. But I'll try. See the dark black border outside the download dialogue? That's normally a very faint transparent shadow. But because there's so many duplicate windows all exactly ontop of each other, those multiple transparent shadows have become opaque.

What you can't see from a static screenshot is that I could see each window appear ontop of the other. If I try to select the filename text and edit it, very quickly another window appears ontop with the default filename again. I can see the Firefox icon in the Gnome bar on the left shaking every time a new window pops up.

(Hmm, it looks like I can't *upload* screenshots either. I click browse, select a file, and then it doesn't get uploaded.)

I'm on Ubuntu 22.10 with Wayland.

I don't know if this issue is a bug in Firefox, or in Gnome. I've only seen this behavior with Firefox in Gnome. Not Firefox on another DE/OS. And not any other application in Gnome. This behavior has been intermittent since I bought this laptop and installed Ubuntu about a month ago.

Firefox (113.0.1 (64-bit), Mozilla Firefox Snap for Ubuntu) won't open files in a filesystem other than the filesystem on which my home directory resides. I have a second filesystem mounted at /970 but trying to open any file whose URL starts with file:///970 elicits a "File not found" error message, e.g. "Firefox can’t find the file at /970/stuff.jpg". Setting security.sandbox.content.level to a lower number (I've tried 0, 1, and 2) does not fix the problem. I didn't have this problem with earlier versions of Firefox; it started after I upgraded to Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS (x86_64)which got me a newer Firefox as well. Chrome continues to open files in /970 with no difficulty.

mount information for / (which includes my home directory) and /970: /dev/nvme0n1p2 on / type ext4 (rw,relatime,errors=remount-ro,stripe=32) /dev/nvme1n1p3 on /970 type ext4 (rw,nosuid,nodev,relatime,x-gvfs-show)

Firefox Full Screen is toggled OFF.

Then the Windows taskbar will not display when the cursor is place at the bottom of the monitor screen. If the Windows taskbar setting "Automatically hide the taskbar in desktop mode" is toggled OFF.
