When I play flash games on facebook, I notice after a few minutes that my computer seems to get slow and continues to be. When I looked at the Task Manager, plugin-container.exe is using up to 1.2gb of my memory. For example, the moment I no longer have Castleville running, it drops to about 40mb, which is alot more acceptable.

Before in version 10 of Firefox I could disable the plugin-container but now the option seems to disappear in version 11. Please help, I wish to disable it so my computer can run normally. It's crazy that I can't just have only one tab open, to play Castleville for 5 minutes before it gets a little bogged down.

I've tried the suggestions for [[High memory usage|https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/High%20memory%20usage]] , but it hasn't helped or already done that before reading. My Flash is up to date (11.2.202.233), Firefox is 11.0.

Any help would be appreciated to disable/ limit the plugin-container.

I am trying to install a plugin for hprooms. Their plugin has to be installed via a script. The script creates a .mozilla directory under the /home/{user} directory. Within that there is a plugins directory where it copies an .so file for the plugin. The plugin though does not show as an installed plugin though others do. I have no idea though where the other installed plugins are kept. I assume Firefox is supposed to check this directory for plugins?

I have a near identical system where this works. The only difference I can see is the working system is an Intel PC booting Ubuntu off a USB key whereas the non-working system is a Pandboard which uses two ARM processors. Otherwise the version of Ubuntu and Firefox are the same.

I am wondering if there is some way I can manually make this work. I need to get this plugin to work ASAP.

Thanks!

Windows users keep getting prompted about java version being insecure and are advised to disable the plugin. They then complain that java based websites no longer work. Can I disable / prevent this warning feature. And can I re-enable java plugin via command line or script? I need to do this on a large scale and various versions of firefox. Right now I will need to abandon firefox if I cannot easily resolve this. Yes I realize updating to latest version of java is a solution... but this will take too much time now and how long before another security fix for java and then I will have to update yet again.

Java console 6.0.29 is listed in the Add-ons Manager and I've tried to configured the Java console through the control panel, checked the Mozilla family box in the default Java for browsers button, click apply then okay. when I reopen Java console it is unchecked.

Netflix support says I have to contact you, since my browser might be corrupted? I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, same problem. I just get this same page, listing the system requirements, all of which I meet. I have Windows XP 64 service pack 2, and use Firefox 11. I tried to check my plug-ins, and tried to update Silverlight, but again got a message that I didn't meet system requirements. Very frustrating!! This is the message I constantly get: Instant Watching System Compatibility Complete System Requirements

To watch instantly, youll need a computer that meets the following minimum requirements:

   Windows
Windows XP with Service Pack 2, Vista or Windows 7
Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher; or Firefox 3 or higher; or Chrome 7 or higher
       1.2 GHz processor
       512 MB RAM
   Mac
An Intel-based Mac with OS 10.4.11 or later
Safari 3 or higher; or Firefox 3 or higher; or Chrome 10 or higher

   Chrome OS
A Google Chromebook with Chrome OS 13 or higher

I am running Firefox 11.0 & Aurora on a Mac with OS X 10.6.8. I used to be able to download pdf files, such as my bank staements, direct from websites with no problem on either browser. Recently, when clicking on the link, the dialog box asking whether I want to save it or open it no longer appears and nothing else happens. Can't download. My wife has the same problem with a new Mac with OS x 10.7 Lion. I am also running an older version of Firefox 3.6.28 on a Mac with PPC processor & OS X 10.5.8. With this I have no problems downloading the pdf files I want. I have compared the Firefox preferences between the two machines and made them the same. Also found the Unable to download or save files link on Firefox Help and I have Reset the browser.download configs as it suggested. And nothing has changed. What to do? Anybody out there can help me? Thanks in advance.

My home page is the Firefox default page with the Google searchbar. I like getting occasional messages from Firefox when I log in so I don't want to change my homepage. However, when I use the searchbar on my homepage only, I get the unsatisfactory AVG Secure Search results.

UPDATE: I now realize all the troubleshooting information I included in my original question appears under the "More System Details" link next to the question, not in the body of the question. I have copied it here to make it easier to see what I have already done to try to solve the problem, as well as describe the one clue I have that may be relevant:

I have tried all the fixes on various threads, but my about:config is now pristine (no avg or isearch mentions; keyword.url is default). Closest solution is that at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/866327 , which requires changing my home page.

Oddly, AVG Secure Search is not a problem when I use the Google toolbar or search from the Google website, only when I use the search bar that appears on my home (start) page. This is true even when I return to my home page--if I search from the Google search bar in the middle of the page, I get sent to AVG Safe Search. (isearch.avg.com).

I read in one thread a suggestion to delete my chromeappsstore.sqlite file in my Profile folder. As promised, Firefox created a new one when I restarted it; however, the search bar in the middle of my home home page did not work at all. Tried this three times before restoring my original.

I do not have an application that will open a sqlite file, but I tried doing so in Excel and found a cell containing the following:

?emoh.:moz-safe-aboutsearch-engine{"name":"AVG Secure Search","searchUrl":"http://isearch.avg.com/search?cid={7A3C25A0-E345-4507-AA31-D98F596A81A9}&mid=c48135235ba247d18ac1d14b344db451-addd29eab2809954d5abdf0b991a5b911a297819&ds=is015&lang=en&v=10.0.0.7&pr=sa&d=&sap=dsp&q=_searchTerms_"}

I have no clue what that means, but it is the only thing I can find related to Firefox that still mentions AVG and isearch.avg.com.

At this point my best guess (but it is a guess) is that the chromeappsstore.sqlite file is a key to the complete solution, but I do not have enough knowledge to go beyond and address it. I appreciate any help you anyone can offer.
