Good afternoon, Yesterday, november 22nd 2023 i was watching TV via my firefox browser at the computer and whenever i saw something i wanted to screengrab i would press print screen and then paste the image into Photoshop for further editing, but all i get now is a big black screen, not the image i had screengrabbed, this used to happen in chrome and that is the reason why i switched to firefox, because this feature still worked in firefox, but today after the update to version 120.0(64-bit) this function now also returns a black screen when pasting into photoshop. Is there a way i can use this feature again? or is this feature gone forever? This was all working okay until this update

Whenever I attempt to watch something on any streaming service, I get an error message from the streaming service and a note from Firefox saying "The WidevineCdm plugin has crashed." I have tried to solve this problem a number of ways, but have unable to find a solution.

My best guess is the problem is due to the most recent WidevineCdm update, as in the plugins settings the most recent update for the plugin was on 10/21/23, which is shortly before I first noticed the problem. I did test out various streaming platforms on other computer browsers (Chrome and Microsoft Edge) — they gave the same website errors as I got on Firefox, but those browsers did not indicate the cause or suggest which plugin failed. I additionally tested out desktop apps for some of the streaming platforms; they work fine without any issues, but unfortunately the main streaming platform I use doesn't have a desktop app and only works in browser.

My computer is a Lenovo Yoga 9i, it's running Windows 11, and everything is up-to-date.

The methods I have tried to fix this issue with, to no avail: - submitted crash reports - toggling the "play DRM restricted content" options in Firefox, and toggling whether or not the WidevineCdm was activated, closing the browser between each toggle of options - clearing Firefox's cache - running Firefox in troubleshooting mode to make sure it wasn't a different extension interfering with it - tried running Firefox in compatibility mode - tried to find support from the people who made WidevineCdm, but apparently they don't do end-user support - deleting the WidevineCdm manually from the program files for Firefox and Chrome (since Firefox says the plugin is from Google), and then reinstalling it via the chrome components page. This briefly lead to the message on the plugin page that WidevinceCdm would "begin installing shortly." It seemed frozen like that for a good while, but then I tried clicking the "check for updates" and that message disappeared, and it went back to crashing when I tried using a streaming service. - uninstalling both Chrome and Firefox, restarting the computer, then reinstalling both browsers

As far as I can tell, the plugin comes automatically installed in the browser, and there isn't an alternate plugin for decrypting DRM-restricted content. If there's a way to set the WidevineCdm to a previous version before the update that's crashing it, I haven't found it, but I am no expert in computers or coding, and my guess about it being caused by the recent update could be wrong too.

I'm at my wit's end here, any help fixing this problem is greatly appreciated.

I am assisting someone with two issues they are having with Firefox.

They are using the latest version of Firefox (all updates installed).

They are able to replicate the issues below in a new private browser windows.

The two issues remained even after creating a new clean profile.

We tried removing Firefox, renaming all the “Mozillia” settings folders at c:\Users\[username]\AppData\ to “BACKUP- Mozillia” and then reinstalling Firefox. That did not help.

These issues do not appear to be present in Edge or Chrome.

FIRST ISSUE

To check their Office 365 account email, this person uses webmail (https://outlook.office.com/mail/) in Firefox.

The Problem:

1. 1. The person views a message in the preview window of Webmail. They scroll to the bottom of the message body.

1. 2. They then select another message to view in the Webmail preview window. That message opens at the to the bottom of the message body (rather than at the top).

I AM NOT able to replicate this issue on my own computer running the same version of Firefox.

SECOND ISSUE

In a new message in Office 365 Webmail, the person can’t right-mouse button click or CTRL click to paste text into the new message.

They have to use the keyboard shortcuts, as suggested in the image below.

A ”Use shortcut keys” error appears (like that in the attached image)

I AM able to replicate this issue on my own computer running the same version of Firefox.

From the bit of research I did, I take it there is no way for Firefox to work with the Windows clipboard.

Is there really no way to access the Windows clipboard in Firefox?

news videos are green! HAPPENED AFTER LAST FIREFOX UPGRADE! WAS TOLD BY ANOTHER USER TO GO BACK TO VERSION 119.0.1 AND THE GREEN SCREEN GOES AWAY. HOW DO I GET BACK TO VERSION 119.0.1 ? CAN MOZILLA FIX PROBLEM IN LATEST UP DATE? PLEASE ANSWER IN MY EMAIL . THANKS.

I've noticed for awhile that files I've opened to view were being automatically downloaded into my downloads folder, but I haven't investigated it until now. I found out this goes back to 2022! My downloads folder is cluttered with files I only wanted to view and not save. All the previous forum questions which I've viewed have now been archived, so I'm opening a new one. On one of the previous threads, I found that a new hidden setting was added so we could change this back to the old behavior of the automatically-downloaded files going to a temporary folder instead of being saved in our downloads folder. We can use about:config to find browser.download.start_downloads_in_tmp_dir and toggle it to "true."

Instead of our having to dig around on the forum to find how to change this, the setting needs to be added to the Main settings page under "Downloads." Then those of us who wish to "always" be asked where to save files will be able to find this setting and change it to our preference. If I want to download something to keep, I will intentionally save it. If not, I expect anything I read online to remain in a temporary cache folder and be deleted when I clear history (which is when I close Firefox, because that is what is selected in my settings).

Please unhide browser.download.start_downloads_in_tmp_dir and add it to our main Settings page. Thank you.

I'm trying to setup Firefox on my new tablet. It's installed but when I try to login to my Firefox account, I discovered that I have forgotten my Firefox password. When I access my Firefox account on one of my older PCs, I can see that the password was changed on 2021. What do I need to do in order to sign in on the new tablet without losing all my synced data? I THINK all I need to do is to sign on to my Firefox profile on one of my older PC's and say that I forgot the password which will result in a password reset. But I thinks that's OK because a new sync account will be created and then I just have to signon from all my other devices using the new password. Is that correct?

Steps to reproduce: 1. Create a Firefox account with email1. 2. Add a secondary email2. 3. Make email2 primary. 4. Delete email1.

Expected behavior: no trace of email1.

Actual behavior: when you try to log on to firefox account with email1, it remembers this, and says to enter the primary email to log in. a la https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1388872

When firefox emails me that firefox accounts are becoming mozilla accounts, they email the DELETED email1! This is incredibly frustrating!

I know I could use an addon like RunWith to download files to the Downloads folder without it asking where to save them, but I want files downloaded through Firefox the official way. I have “Always ask where to save files” unchecked in settings, but that doesn’t do anything.

Lately, far too many websites I try to open, simply won't! Sometimes it's via links from my home page, sometimes it's links within various websites, like a newspaper, or social media, just whatever, no rhyme nor reason, nor consistency. Even when I manually input the url, nothing happens, the browser just sits there, nothing happens. I've restarted, I've refreshed websites, clicked on "open in new tab/window", nothing gets it to work.

I have some javascript bookmarks (basically they just insert the current date in an appropriate place in the URL and then open it. Example at the bottom).

Both just clicking on these bookmark or left clicking and "open in new tab" or "open in new window" works as expected, that is,

• the computed URL is displayed in the address bar
• and the page is displayed.

So, fundamentally the javascript bookmarks work as I expect.

Now my problem: If I put this bookmark in a folder (either alone or together with other bookmarks), left click on the folder and select "open all bookmarks" it will open a new tab for each entry and the normal bookmarks are loaded in the tab as expected. But the tab corresponding to the javascript bookmark opens, and

• displays the javascript code (and not the computed URL)
• shows a blank page

What do I have to do that "open all bookmarks" also execute the javascript?

I have uninstalled Firefox and ensured that there are no process still running. When I try to reinstall I get the message "Firefox is already running, but it is not responding..... "

There does not seem to be a profile either at "%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\"

Firefox is my default browser and I always use it to order at Tesco. Recently I have been getting an error message denying me access to view the email they sent me. The only way I can see it is to use microsoft but prefer Firefox.

Other browsers and programs manage to use the web just fine, but lately, firefox is hanging for minutes at a time, spinning its wheels, when I try to do anything online. It happens multiple times per hour, for several minutes. No idea what is wrong. I tried everything firefox recommends. Nada. Anybuddy have a clue? About to go back to the darkside, chrome. This is maddening.

How do I completely delete all traces of prior Firefox install? I believe my browser became corrupted. I uninstalled it and then went to the C drive and deleted all associated folders. As far as I know, I have no files saved as webpages but I do not know how to confirm in Windows 10. When I download Firefox I get the message saying a copy has been installed on my computer before. How do I completely remove any trace of Firefox so I can fresh install?

I find the new(?) "Firefox View" quite helpful but...:

I have two firefox desktop installs and one on my phone. My foxes are all set up to open with the tabs from the last session.

Expected behaviour: "Tabs from other devices" shows all recent tabs from all 3 devices (minus the current one of course).

Actual behaviour:

• On the desktop firefoxes, under "Tabs from other devices" I only see the FF-instance from my phone. Missing the other desktop install (see attached screenshot).
• On the phone, I only see the most recent desktop instance.

It seems like as if it either can handle only one mobile and one desktop install or it hides devices not currently active?

Is there a way to enable using both a default pattern as well as a custom image for the background on Firefox Color? I really want to enable both but it is making me choose one or the other. Please help me do this or enable the ability to do so.
