So I've noticed recently that Firefox, or rather more specifically, Noscript, seems to think a lot of things are XSS attempts, which had never been the case before, leading me to think these are false positives. I've had no luck in undoing anything that was blocked, as mentioned in another thread. I'm trying to figure out if resetting Firefox would be a good idea. My problem is that one of my extensions is directly tied to my antivirus program, so my question is basically this; would the extension be able to be turned back on as is, or would I have to reinstall the antivirus program to get it back? I've never seen it come up in a basic search for add-ons without it. So it sounds like I'd have to reinstall it. Can anyone confirm this? If so, I'll have to wait a day or two to get this reset done.

Alternatively, I'm debating just deleting the current cookies and the like from the browser. Would this be a better alternative to a full on refresh/reset of Firefox?

Firefox version 89.0.1 is not handling frameset src. No redirection to src.

This code is generated by my ISP's domain name frame forwarding software so I have no access to how it is generated ie: I am in no position to use iframes.

I should point out that this worked last week no problem. I had my settings on auto update so maybe an update has broken this I don't know.

Below is the code. It works fine in Chrome, MS Edge, Safari and Opera. Which tends to suggest that Firefox is the problem.

Note that this is exactly what I see when I view the page source in Firefox. There is a frame tag commented out. I don't know whether that is how it came from the ISP's server or whether Firefox has commented it out on receipt.

How do I get around this?

If you see this your browser does not support frames

No website entered into the address bar works. Neither does trying to access anything by entering about:xxxxx (although about:support Keyboard shortcuts to access the same settings menus do not work either. This problem happened suddenly tonight. The back and forward arrows also don't work (although Troubleshooting Information came up when I selected it from the Help menu).

Edge and Chrome work just fine. I have tried deleting the cache, launching Firefox in safe mode, creating an alternate profile, refreshing Firefox, uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox, deleting the folders manually and reinstalling, deleting/reinstalling in Windows safe mode, rolling back Windows updates (one update had installed today; I tried rolling back several updates just in case), removing Firefox from the allowed apps in my firewall software (AVG Antivirus), and completely disabling AVG Antivirus.

The Firefox Community here has tried to be very helpful with all the users who hate the changes in Version 89/90, but we need Mozilla/Firefox to hear us.

CSS work-arounds are fine for the IT-literate, which I am not. They are also only temporary. We have no indication that FF is even paying attention to our complaints.

They need to understand that some users have a keyboard and mouse attached to a PC, not a touchscreen like on a pad or phone. It looks like FF wants to cater to touchscreens. This DOES NOT WORK for PC users.

I suggest one UI for touchscreens and a different one for PCs. IIRC, there is a FF version for Windows AND a different one for Apple; why not do the same?

Nobody seems to have any response other than "use this CSS fix." I've also been directed to "clean up the help platform myself" - huh?

Can we please get SOME kind of response from the platform itself? Or are they just trying to get rid of all users without touchscreens?

I think that such a project would have multiple purposes: First off, you would take fewer things from Gecko, making for a more compact code base (I mean, does everyone want Video-in-Video and Pocket? Couldn't you integrate the most popular add-ons and remove add-on support? I like 'em, but don't they add bloat?). That could make the entry into development easier. Second off, it'd show people that Blink isn't the only engine you can base a browser off of. And if the code base is truly the same (includes Quantum), and more of a subset, it's probably easier to maintain and get security updates to than, for instance, Pale Moon. As fork developers are only able to backport security patches when Mozilla releases them, that problem would be greatly reduced if the project was made within Mozilla. Third off, having a lightweight browser might enable more people to use Mozilla products, as they could run the browser on weaker hardware. If the developers are able to focus on making that browser lightweight, it wouldn't be crucial for Firefox Standard to run on everything, and you'd still be able to reach more people.

Hi, I'm using Firefox and Nightly both updated to latest versions on Feren OS (Linux). The drop downs, option menus, bookmarks etc. all have transparent background on Nightly. Stable version has black background and white text as it should be.

I've tried userChrome.css but it doesn't work. Changing font-sizes do work which proves that Nightly looks for this file at startup. I've tried changing background on these CSS elements:

  1. main-menubar menupopup
  2. PlacesToolbarItems menupopup > hbox

My OS details are: Operating System: Feren OS 2021.04 KDE Plasma Version: 5.21.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.82.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 Kernel Version: 5.8.0-55-generic OS Type: 64-bit

Image is attacked for reference.

I have had PCs for years and have used Firefox. My PC died and will not boot. I have an image of my C:\ drive on a Passport disk. But the Mac will not read it. I installed Firefox on my new Mac and signed in had all of my bookmarks and passwords. Then there was a Firefox icon on the bottom strip and one on my screen. In the interim, I opened some new accounts and used a bunch of passwords. At the end of the day, I dragged the icon on the screen down to the row of icons at the lower screen. That wiped out my Firefox. I downloaded Firefox again and put in what I thought was the password and it said I had multiple accounts and if I changed the password it would erase all of my data. I need to find out how to get the right password so I preserve my data. The email account I used as the ID is coolsgirl@msn.com. I am 72 and I don't want to make a mistake that is irreversible. My sister said Macs were easier but I should have gotten a new PC. Live and learn. I don't know my Firefox email. Thank you, Phyllis

I have multiple screens with task bars above each other. When I open firefox in full sceen ( not f11, just the full screen option that windows provides ) on the bottom screen, there seems to be a piece of firefox's top bar overlapping the task bar on the screen above.

How do I fix this? This issue has bothered me for quite a while now. The workaround seems to be to set the windows task bar color to white ( to make it less noticable ), but that doesn't solve the problem, it just makes it less visible.

Please see the screenshot. When I unfocus Firefox ( by focussing another piece of software, or none ) the white bar disappears.

I am not sure what to attribute the problem to. I use Earthlink - I know, I'm a sap. They had a release recently, with no warning, and its far worse than the previous version. Innumerable errors and lags. Spam handling got worse, and it wasn't great.

They might be preventing the spellcheck from working. Their own spell checker was never great, but was rendered demented in the new release. It flags every plural word as a misspell, for one instance. The code was clearly untested.

I just don't like Gmail because you can't sort anything. The fonts are thread-like - intended for the young. Not for imperfect minds. The effect is 'our way or *** you.'

Earthink's folder system is somewhat reminiscent of Outlook Express, which I loved. Since they killed it, I don't want to use Microsoft db products, lest they hold my stuff hostage one day, or leave me in the lurch.

There should be a universal format, forever readable, is one so chooses.

I just right clicked in this window, composing my plea, and the spell check is there. So my inability to access it must be another 'gift' from Earthlink, the firm with the worst designers and programmers of any I've encountered.

They have arranged to bury consumer complaints, and have concocted a way to make false claims appear in search returns. Their site is covered with 'best' badges that can't possibly be deserved, or have been given. As a customer since 1997, I feel some authority to say what I'm saying, as a witness to their devolution and ever more blatant unconcern.

If you only knew.

I'd go to Thunderbird except you withdrew support for it for a time, I think I read, which makes it untrustworthy to me.

Is there any way I can access the spell check function other than a browser input window ? I don't know if can 'force' earthlink to use it only in my compose windows, but it is running with Firefox.

Anyway, thanks for any help you can give me.
