Why did my firefox reset itself?
I have been using firefox as my browser for many years without a problem. Yesterday I was sitting at my PC and while I was looking at the screen the firefox browser closed and then restarted itself without any warning or anything. I never told it to or even clicked anything when it happened. It did it on its own. When It restarted I had lost all my add-ons, which was a lot, and everything had been reset. I went to go start re-installing the add-ons but every time i tried the add on search nothing came up. So I left the mozilla add on page and decided to just google the add ons. The add ons popped up under google and I was able to install them, but they were different, outdated versions. Does anybody know what is happening? Also how can I back up my add-ons so I can restore them in the future if this happens again.

Check your desktop, there you can see the old profile data folder
Restore your profile
Modified
Thank you I will try that.
If you find the old folder, possible routes to recovery are described in this recent thread: I reset firefox and now some of my add on's are gone and when i try reinstalling them , it says it already exists but i cant find it!!!!
