How can I log onto my support group ?
I recently reset my Mozilla/Firefox. Now when I try to log on to my Parkinson's support group, the usual first screen is overridden by a second screen asking if I am a registered member. When I check YES and enter my name and pw, it seems to take that info, but then loops back and repeats... forever. This does not happen with IE. No error message appears. I cannot find a solution to this problem in FF library.

Did you change any settings relating to cookies after the reset, or install any add-ons that block cookies?
Generally speaking, when you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site:
- right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
- Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
Jscher2000,
Thanks for your time and suggestions. I tried both options you described, but no cigar.
All the cookies are gone.
I still get the into a loop with the same login screen reappearing.
Other suggestions welcome. If none come, I will reset the clock back ten days.
This can be caused by corrupted cookies or cookies that are blocked (check the permissions on the about:permissions page).
If clearing cookies doesn't work then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookie files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox profile folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.
You can inspect and manage the permissions for all domains on the about:permissions page or for the current domain via the "Site Identity Button" (globe/padlock) on the location bar and click "More Information" to open "Page Info" and go to the Permissions tab.
You can delete the permissions.sqlite file to reset all permissions.
Many thanks to all who responded for the effort. My poor feeble brain couldn't make the proposed solutions work. Though I dislike tinkering with registries using off-the-shelf freeware, that is what I did: I ran a registry cleaner. It appears to have done the good deed and I am back in business.
