switch to private browsing, soon as private window opens, There's 2 copies of a video download to desktop (OS X 10.8.3)) FF 21.0
I was in a private window, and downloaded a video to my desktop. Now every time I open a new private browsing window or a non private window, I receive two copies of the same video to my desktop. It happens when I start a new subsequent window.

Forgot to mention, I disabled all video download add ons before I posed question. Thereby hopefully eliminating those as possible areas
You can check the home page setting.
Firefox supports multiple home pages separated by '|' symbols.
- Tools > Options > General > Startup: Home page
I checked that too, Just have Google as my home page. Only the one entry. Went through the entire list of option in the preferences too see if anything jumped out. Nothing obvious (to me)
Do you see this download in the Download Manager?
- History > Show All History > Downloads
You can also try to delete the downloads.sqlite file in the Firefox profile folder.
You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder
- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
Thanks for the reply Cor-el, There is nothing in the downloads manager, nor is there a sqlite folder in mt ~library.... folder. By default, I save downloads to my download folder. These files end up on my desk top, and there is nowhere in my preferences that I mention save to my desktop. Yet every time I start FF or a new window (of any status) there are two copies of the same MP4 file saved to my desktop.
In my about:config what I have is the following references: browser.download.lastDir user set string /Users/Me/Desktop dwhelper.storagedirectory user set string /Users/Me/Desktop extensions.vidbar.default_folder user set string /Users/Me/Desktop extensions.vidbar.download-location user set string /Users/Me/Desktop
These are the only references that I have found in my about:config
Problem resolved!
I removed the add on "Download Youtube Video+" extension. Restarted FF and the problem has disappeared.
Thanks all for the quick responses.
