"show all bookmarks" used to open a page "library" which persisted. Now it disappears? How do I fix?

Just upgraded from XP to Win 7. In past, clicking on "show all bookmarks" opened bookmarks list which persisted until closed. Now, the list disappears as soon as I do anything else. Firefox 20.0.1. How do I make the list persist so I can work on the bookmarks without losing the page every time? "Persist" would include adding an icon to the tray.

Chosen Solution

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.

May have solved the problem. Can now find icon for Library behind icon for Firefox. Will mark as solved subject to reopening. Thanks.
