The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

I just tried your solution and it is working much better. I have tried other fixes and they always work for a while before Firefox lags again so I will update if the problem presents itself again.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox Profile Folder if it happens again.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

• Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Also make sure that security software (firewall, anti-virus) isn't interfering.

The problem still persisted after I did the reset. Right now I am trying it out in safe mode and it seems to be working fine but I will try the place.sqlite fix. Also, this is a list of all the extensions I currently have installed:

If you disable Hardware Acceleration, does that help any? Turning off hardware acceleration

Disabling hardware acceleration seemed to solve the problem. Thank you all very much, but before I close this thread as solved, I've always had that feature enabled to the best of my knowledge. Why did it suddenly cause problems?

There was likely an update to your graphics driver that caused this issue.
