This sounds familiar, but I can't recall the cause. I think it's the byproduct of an add-on. Can you think of any that you've installed recently? You can review extensions (the most likely culprit) here:

orange Firefox button or classic Tools menu > Add-ons > Extensions category

Probably most efficient to simply disable everything that is nonessential, restart, and see whether that makes any difference.

Try the Firefox Safe Mode to see how it works there. The Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.

(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)

  • You can open the Firefox 4.0+ Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • Or use the Help menu item and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Don't select anything right now, just use "Continue in Safe Mode." To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shift key) to open it again. If it is good in the Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one.

Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.

That problem can be caused by the Yahoo! Toolbar or the Babylon extension that extents too much downwards and covers the top part of the browser window and thus makes links and buttons in that part of the screen not clickable.

Thanks for the info I tried disabling extensions and that didnt work, then I made more changes to the toolbars and got another two tool bars. This moved the web page down and now the top line commands are available. This is probably not the proper solution. At one time I tried to get rid of a toolbar and I may have just hidden it, any way its working now Thanks again

Do you have any toolbar open or showing in Firefox > Options or View > Toolbars apart from the default Firefox toolbars?

You can also check for problems with the localstore.rdf file.
