Babylon search keeps opening in my New Tab section when I open a new tab.

more options

I have gone through most of the questions that have been answered on here along with other sites in which I found on Google, I have tried everything and I still cannot remove Babylon Search Engine as the page that shows up with I open a new tab. I don't understand how to fix this and having it there is annoying on many levels.

Chosen solution

If it is in your extensions go to tools > add-ons > extensions > find Babylon and uninstall

go to about:config type babylon and with right-click on each you can find select reset

also as above, in about config, find browser.newtab.url and change it to about:newtab or about:blank or the page you want to open when open a new tab. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/new-tab-page-show-hide-and-customize-top-sites

en la barra de direcciones escribe about:config pone si, busca (en la barra de busqueda) la palabra babylon, te van a salir 2 entradas, clic derecho sobre una, modificar, borras lo que dice, repeti en la otra

In the adress bar, write about:config clic yes in the warning, then search (in the search bar) the word babylon, it finds 2 entries (on my case), right clic over one of them, modify, delete the text in the box, accept, repeat on the other entry

Haha!!! I had the SAME bloody problem too!! And I figured out how to remove it! Although now there's no "keyword.URL" line in my Important Modified Preferences under Troubleshoot info. I don't know if what I did was bad, but it worked for me.

Mind you this is to get your new Tab to open blank.

Here's how: Disclaimer - I am NOT an engineering student, nor do I know zilch about programming and softwares, so do this under your own risk. It worked for me, so I'm sharing it with you!

1. Go to Help> Troubleshooting Information.

2. Under "Application Basics" find "Profile Folder" and click "Show Folder"

3. Exit Firefox.

4. In the opened folder, Open the file "user" using Notepad and delete all the entries that have Babylon in them. Save.

5. Open "prefs" using Notepad.

6. Use Ctrl+F to find entries that have "Babylon" in them. Once you find an entry, Delete the full entry. Only the ones that have Babylon in them.

7. Save after you've deleted all the specific entries.

8. Open Firefox, et voila!!! Enjoy your new blank Tab!!

You can do the same for other automatic search hijackers like Bing etc etc. :)

Type about:config in your address bar accept the warning. you will see a list of thing there..carefully search for any thread than is named by babylon. Then right click on it and click on reset bottom.. after you have reset all (around 20 items)..restart firefox..babylon is gone!!!! and there will be no babylon search and google will be replaced..and new tab are blank
