Cannot open pdf files downloaded using firefox. They open fine using safari, and used to open fine before my latest update of firefox.????

I am running the latest version of snow leopard on my mac. Since the last update of Firefox, I have not been able to open any newly downloaded pdf's. I get a message that says "The file cannot be opened. it may be damaged or use a file format that preview doesn't recognize." When I download using Safari, everything works fine. I have been using Firefox for a long time and all of my bookmarks are in Firefox.

And why should I do that? Files used to open fine with OS X Preview before the FF upgrade. The problem lies with FF6 not with anything on my computer. As noted above, the same file downloaded with Safari opens fine

Same problem, followed your advice to no avail, but only thing that worked was to go to FF Tools menu, clicked on "Add-ons", then selected "Plug-ins", and for Adobe Acrobat NPAPI Plug-in, Version 10.1.3 clicked "Disable". Then presto I could download my pdf's and read them in my adobe reader like I could before this problem appeared.

I also disabled adobe npapi plug-in and now the pdf files open as usual.
