I have windows 7 ult. 64 and firefox 4 would load pages so slow it was a waist. I found out that it was shockwave flash player. Well I uninstalled it and then tried Adobe square which is for 64b and it doesn't work. I can no longer watch and You Tub videos. BUT............... FireFox is now faster.

This worked for me -

change: "dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.npswf32.dll" to 'true'

Ok I'll try that. BUT ............................ I have one question? I just had a brain fart, Where do I change that?

And thank you for the help.

Sorry - should have been clearer.

Type "about:config" in the address bar and that takes you to settings.

I usually cut n paste the term to the 'Filter' once I'm in config rather than scroll through to find.

Then double click the entry and it'll change from 'false' to 'true.

Close FF and then re-open for the setting to take effect.

Best of luck, let us know if it works for you too.

Damn, I did what you said and I don't have that in my settings. This is what I have.

"dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.np64stub.dll;false"

Ouch !!!

Sorry, this is the only answer I have :(

You could try changing that setting and see if it resolves. If not, it's simple enough to change it back.

Other than that I'm afraid it's back to the drawing board.

For what it's worth I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate X64

That's what I'm running too. I will try that.

All Right Buddy. So far so good. Everything is working. YOU ARE THE MAN. Thank you. I now have my FireFox 4 working and it's fast and everything is working so far.

Glad it worked out, and thanks for letting me know :)

Ok. Well I did more looking around the web since I can now watch the you tube videos. But I do have a problem with some sites that it still doesn't work. I guess we still have to wait for a patch or something so that all flash sites will work. It just sucks right now that not all work with FireFox 4 but they did with the older FireFox. I guess I could change back to the older one but I really like the look of 4.

@dougcoull - your solution of...

Type "about:config" in the address bar and that takes you to settings. change: "dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.npswf32.dll" to 'true' worked for me a treat.

Restarted my browser and hey presto - thank you.

I don't have the npswf32.dll either...and was also told to change this to true...how do I get that on my computer?

ugghhh...I did so many different things to my computer that were suggested to me...and it is totally messed up now!!!! I tried to do a system restore twice now and it won't restore it to what I previously had!!!! I am so freaking frustrated, I'm about to get the sledge hammer out!!!!

Doug, after months of searching for an answer, I've finally found one that works. No more having to open Chrome every time I see a Vimeo vid on Reddit. Thank you!

Edit: I'm using Fx 5, FYI.
