Upgraded to Firefox 4, now laptop's fan comes on much more frequently

I have Windows 7, 64 bit. My laptop has 3GB RAM and an Intel Core i3 processor.

I was getting on fine with the last version of Firefox, but after upgrading to Firefox 4 today, my laptop's fan comes on just about every time I load a new page or open a new tab. Memory usage seems very high compared to what it was before, it's at around 160MB right now with just two tabs open. I am thinking of going back to an older version, I'm just not happy about this.

We now use your systems graphics card to accelerate the drawing of the Firefox window. This could be the source of the additional fan noise.

Thank you very much for your reply. I turned off use hardware acceleration when available in the Advanced tab in Options and this has solved the problem. Now I can surf in peace once more. :o)
