I tried to reset my master password, and was told it was reset, but nothing told me WHAT it was reset to, which does me no good at all.
I followed the instructions to reset the master password, and was told it had been reset, but no indication of WHAT it has been reset to. I'm baffled as to how to find what the password is, and when I try to send or get mail, I'm told the login failed and I should try another password. The account I am trying to use is johnvarley@comcast.net, but since I can't get mail there, could anyone who responds to this send the answer to john@varley.net?

What password are you working with? The master password in Thunderbird, the only password in Thunderbird, is for protecting access to your saved password in Thunderbird. It has nothing to do with logging into your email account. If you followed the Thunderbird instructions to clear a forgotten master password, it does just that. It clears the code and then there is none.
If you are trying to reset the password to your email account you do that with your email provider. No one here or at Thunderbird has anything to do with administering your email password.
FYI: It is foolish to post your personal info like your email addresses above in a public forum. Spammers love people like you that do not mind them using your email address. I suggest you edit that post and remove them.
