Is it possible to install Firefox (or at least the profiles) onto an external SSD (i.e., not the C: drive)? If so, how?

Note: this is not about migration/backup/recovery of profiles. Nor is it about where files are downloaded by default.

Windows 11 is consuming nearly all of the C: drive. I badly need to get Firefox (and later Thunderbird) onto my E: drive. I further note that the installer gives no options whatsoever as to the destination drive.

Most of the help I've found on the web is clearly outdated.

How to sort and view history by date in firefox? if we go to the history tab it automatically sorts by creating sections of , "today","yesterday" and then directly for "last 7 days" that too doesnt have the exact date. how can i exactly view the data of a particular date past yesterday?

I want to create a link in the bookmarks toolbar to easy check and update firefox In chrome I can do that with creating a bookmark to: chrome://settings/help In edge I can do that with creating a bookmark to: edge://settings/help I have search for, but cannot find the equivalent in firefox

Today for the first time after the latest update 127.0 (64-bit), my many firefox pages and tabs crashed and closed and a pop up to send crash report.

So I have fired up firefox again to find only a single page opens up, I have lost probably 16+ pages with multiple tabs on each, been like that for months, I have 32GB memory so there is normally no issues or slowness. However after the crash, even though only a single firefox page is open, windows task manager shows Firefox (20) and if I expand the task, I can see each firefox is taking lots of memory.

So it looks like the old session pages/tabs are still there somewhere but not accessible, I would like to get them back if possible. I went through reseting it to default, disabling the add ons etc but nothing has worked.

Greetings support team. The problem is a bit complicated and I could't find anything similar to it on the net, so I'll try to explain in details what happened. One day after opening the browser I noticed that it didn't launch(there was no window). After opening it again I saw that all of my previously opened tabs were gone. After that I closed Firefox and went to check the task manager. I found that Firefox was still running after closing it. I couldn't wrap my head around it and killed the programm. Then I opened it again and got the same results: first launch: no Firefox window(nothing on the taskbar either), secound launch: one empty tab. After that I opened a new tab in Firefox through task manager and my screen "swiped right", I got access to Firefox window with all of my previous tabs, but all the other programms I had opened on the taskbar were gone. Somehow Firefox opens outside my screen on a "separate one" every first time I launch the app, and the only way to switch between "screens" is to open a new tab through task manager or launch a program that was previously active to switch back to previous "screen". It is also impossible to switch between opened windows on different "screens" using gestures on the touchpad or "Alt" + "Tab". I use a laptop and never even tried to attach/connect a second monitor. I don't have another monitor attached via bluetooth or any other means in device manager. I have the latest verion of windows 10 installed and updated. I have another PC, where I use the same Firefox with the same addons on the same Mozilla account, which has no such issues. I have tried renaming the file called "xulstore.json" to "xulstore.old" or deleting it entirely, this didn't resolve the issue.

When I open my emails, I get an automatic default to email REPLY. I cannot open my emails for reading and attachments. Also, I no longer get the time of the email listed. How do I restore my settings?

I'd like to know if there is a way to remove firefox relay from the context menu, as per screenshot. I really like the relay icon on the email fields, but I don't want it to show on the context menu and I found no such option on the relay extension. Is there a solution to this?

For a while now, I've been having recurring issues with Firefox desktop freezing and becoming totally unresponsive. If there's any pattern to what causes it, I haven't been able to notice it; sometimes it happens as soon as I open the browser, sometimes it happens after several hours, sometimes it happens twice in ten minutes, sometimes it happens twice in a few hours (however, I can count the number of days it's happened less than twice in one day in the past few weeks on the fingers of one hand). When the browser freezes, it becomes totally unresponsive - it doesn't fade or display "Not Responding", and Task Manager shows nothing abnormal, but it doesn't accept any input at all, any video or other animated material that may have been displaying freezes, and it can only be "fixed" by force quitting from the task manager and reopening. This is exclusively a firefox issue; other programs open at the same time as the browser freezes are not affected.

The only real lead I have as to what could be going on is that sometimes, things don't freeze all at once, but in a cascading effect. For example, tabs, bookmarks, etc. might not highlight when moused over, but still accept the clicks, or selecting another tab might causes the address bar to display the URL of the selected tab, but the screen displayed in the window will not change. Once these cascading changes start, they generally progress to total freeze before I have a chance to do much with that information (only a few seconds), but it's unusual enough behavior to be worth noticing.

Things I've already tried that haven't fixed the issue:

• Reducing the number of tabs used and otherwise reducing Firefox's system resource usage has not impacted the problem in any way.
• Running in Troubleshoot Mode has not had a consistent effect on the problem (the most recent time I did, the browser ran stably for longer than I could stand to use the internet without my ad blocker, but this is only one data point in an already inconsistent spread; prior instances of the problem have occurred in Troubleshoot Mode)
• Disabling hardware acceleration has not fixed the issue.
• The issue has persisted through multiple refreshes and at least one full uninstall and clean reinstall.
• The issue persisted after creating and switching to a new profile multiple times.
• The issue persisted after renaming places.sqlite
• The issue persisted after clearing cache and cookies multiple times.
• The issue persisted after clearing downloads and history.
• And very likely some other stuff that I'm forgetting, I've been trying to fix this on my own for a while now.

I have a Lenovo Win 11 notebook that now requires me to sign in each time I open Outlook or YouTube when I use the Firefox Browser. Edge and Chrome do not require a sign each time I use Outlook and/or YouTube. A setting in Firefox certainly seems to be the cause. I reinstalled Firefox, still same broblem.

A week or two ago I had no issues with Outlook and YouTube. It happens now every time I Open Outlook and YouTube.

I now use EDGE and have stopped using Firefox which has been my preferred browser for years.

My display is too big now and I lose parts of webpages in the "edges"? Search bar when I first sign on shows 120%. How do I get back to 100%? Please no technical jargon. If I can't fix this,will have to quit using Firefox.

FIRST PROBLEM (I have been unable to submit a help request from https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/new/mozilla-account/form)

Windows 10, fully updated with the latest firefox version. Email program is MS Outlook through my employer. Email notifications are overwhelmingly loud if the global volume is sufficient for viewing content. Playing with the volume mixer doesn't help. I have searched for solutions online, and every suggested fix entails features or options that are not available on my system. Please provide complete instructions for Windows 10. Please respond to lanzcc@potsdam.edu

SECOND PROBLEM

Submit button on page https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/new/mozilla-account/form never succeeds.

This has been going on for a length of times, the Privacy app or window keeping changing when I used it. This morning, it started back when trying to close it to go to another website. Also, the middle part of the privacy screen keeping changing.

Firefox is not secure because there is something going on every day with the settings. They keep changing on me.

I've been using Rightmove Professional on Firefox for ten years plus but now suddenly it's not working correctly as the viewing windows no longer slide. Rightmove say it's due to an update by Firefox and advise to switch to Chrome but I really don't want to - will this issue be fixed? Thanks

I get the following two error messages when I click on Foxfire. Couldn't load XPCOM; and Entry Point not found; followed by this:  ?Nan@Decimal@blink@@SA?AV12@XZ could not be located in the dynamic link library...

I tried to uninstall the program, but got the same two messages and it would not let me. I downloaded a new version and I'm getting the same messages. Everytime I start my computer, I get the same two messages and have to click out of them to keep going. I've installed another browser, but at this point, I just want to uninstall Foxfire so it stops popping up with error messages all the time.

Anybody know how to resolve this? Thanks.

As you can see in the attached image the highlight is coming out grey instead of blue, which is what is showing when I select 'save screenshot'. It used to be this error happened maybe one in 20 times and it was annoying because I am making these screenshots for use in youtube videos and it becomes unreadable, but now it is every single screenshot even after doing it dozens of times and with different pages.

Multiple users are reporting in Microfix's Mozilla Firefox and ESR Updates 2024 in the AskWoody forum that the two options at Settings | Browsing | Recommend extensions as you browse and Recommend features as you browse were both automatically re-enabled when Firefox updated to v127.0.0. I was able to confirm both those settings were previously disabled in my Firefox browser and re-enabled without my permission in v127.0.0.

So far this as been confirmed in desktop builds of Firefox v127.0.0 and Firefox ESR v115.0.2 released on 11-Jun-2024, but not in Portable builds of Firefox. I'm hoping that the automatic re-enabling of these settings is a bug, and not a deliberate change to make Firefox more intrusive.

I should add that the first time I re-launched Firefox after upgrading to v127.0.0 on 11-Jun-2024 I saw a banner message asking me if I'd like to Open Firefox every time you start your computer?. I'm hoping that clicking the "Not Now" button button once will be enough to prevent this nag from reappearing.
