I can no longer login to my webmail account using firefox, but I CAN login using MS Edge. I obtained a new ISP and set up a new email account. I was able to access the webmail account for about a month with Firefox. Then a few days a age, it just stopped: When entering valid credentials, the login page just refreshes (without errors) and doesn't continue to the webmail inbox any longer. So I thought I'd try a different browser and I used MS Edge. The valid credentials get me into the webmail inbox using Edge, but no longer works in Firefox. Any ideas what happened?

Hello Jscher. Thank you so much for the reply. My technical knowledge is definitely not at your level, but here is what I understood and tried:

I think it is likely the reCAPTCHA issue because, after entering credentials, the CAPTCHA used to show up (and require input) before finally being directed to the webmail inbox. But now it doesn't. However, I tried the CTRL + SHIFT + R and it simply refreshed the page again without showing the CAPTCHA or going to the webmail.

I turned off tracking to webmail.quantumfiber.net/app (where I sign in to webmail) and to quantumfiber.net, but no change yet.

Have I understood you correctly?

In recent days, some users were affected by a change to reCAPTCHA, the annoying feature where you check a box and click pictures. It was fixed overnight, so just in case your email site requires that, try reloading that login page bypassing the cache to see whether reCAPTCHA will load and run correctly -- that's either:

  • Shift+click the Reload button
  • Ctrl+Shift+R

Another potential issue is when Tracking Protection prevents multi-server sites from sharing your credentials between servers. An example would be a site that is set up along these lines:

  • mail.example..com
  • account.example..com

When you are viewing a page on the site, you can click the shield icon at the left end of the address bar to turn off Tracking Protection on the site -- repeat on each of its different servers -- and see whether that helps. More info on that: Total Cookie Protection and website breakage FAQ.

Any progress so far?

After trying a few suggestions at the about link about Cookies and Tracking, I ended up changing the Enhanced Tracking Protection from Custom to Standard. I am now able to login to the webmail acct, but there is no longer a CAPTCHA required. Thank you for the help!

I think the post at 11:06 is the "solution" in this case.
