I have used Thunderbird with the same email account for years, creating subfolders and moving emails to the subfolders with no issues.

With Thunderbird 153.0.1, after creating a new subfolder in the account, when attempting to move emails to the new folder, I receive the following error:

"Thunderbird: The current command did not succeed. The email server responded: APPEND invalid flag list"

Hi, I was trying to find a particular email and was playing with a couple of filters. I ended up with all of my inbox in alphabetical order. In other words, all the senders' names starting with A are at the top, and conversely all the Z' s are at the bottom. How do I put them back in the order received please? Many thanks, John.

Habe schon sehr viel ausprobiert: - Papierkorb geleert - Archiv komprimiert - Lokalen Ordner neu aufgebaut (.msf-Dateien entfernt) - komplett neues leeres Archiv an einem neuen Speicherort erstellt. Es kommt immer die selbe Meldung: Die Nachricht konnte nicht in den Ordner "Archiv/2026/2026-09 in Lokale Ordner" verschoben oder kopiert werden, da das Schreiben in den Ordner fehlgeschlagen ist. Um Speicherplatz frei zu machen, wählen Sie aus dem Menü "Datei" zuerst "Papierkorb leeren" und dann "Alle Ordner des Kontos komprimieren". Versuchen Sie es dann nochmals. Hat jemand eine Idee wie ich das beheben kann?

I am in the midst of the long process of moving most (not all!) of my gmail from the gmail server to TBird, using filters as discussed in this thread.

I've started by first using filters on less important emails (ie so that no true disaster occurs if something goes horribly wrong). As I do so, I have questions!

For example, let's say I use a filter to: copy all the emails from @someone.org to a local folder then delete those emails (from the server)

What happens if one of those emails happens to be within a thread, including emails from people who don't match the filter (ie are not @someone.org). Have I broken the thread forever, ie, has something gone horribly wrong? If so, how do I prevent this behavior/have the entire thread move along with the targeted value? If not, I don't see how I can move email without breaking threads, which is a bit of a problem.

(Also - whoops, I see I should update, but the question remains.)

My correspondents keep getting shuffled and applied to the wrong subject line in the inbox. It was suggested that I right-click on the folder, select "properties" and then "repair." That clears it up, but only for a matter of hours. Plus, any emails that I have open get closed and then I have to find them again.

One person who suggested that I right-click the folder and repair it said if that didn't work, there was a more technical fix. I need it!

Help!

In my imap email account I have a folder called Archives which has several subfolders, named by year, where I have been archiving messages for years. All the folders are still there but they are empty. I can't be sure of when this happened. Any ideas?

I have a lot of saved emails--how do I look up or determine how much storage space these emails are taking up? John thdtgog1118@outlook.com

When replying to an email, I type the first line of text in the text field and then paragraph (carriage return) using the ENTER key. This causes the first line of text to disappear. This has been happening all day today, several times. Closing and reopening Thunderbird does not solve the problem. Rebooting the device does not solve the problem.

Some of the messages in my inbox show the wrong information in the "from" and "correspondents" columns. Is there a way to get the correct information from the message to be displayed?

Hi, Hoping I can get some help here, I couldn't find an answer in the search topics.

I have lost a few local subfolders. First the subfolders lost the emails contained in them and then the subfolders themselves disappeared.

I renamed the main folder just removing the year from the folder name and not long after that the above happened.

I have tried the following:

• Searching the help topics • Searching the forum • Closing reopening Thunderbird • I removed .msf files and restarted Thunderbird

I am not sure what I can do now.

I am running Thunderbird mail on a Win 11 desktop. I have four email accounts displayed, plus my 'Private Folders'. Each email account has it's own 'Deleted' folder, but I also have a 'Deleted' folder in my Private Folders list that I would like to remove. Can I?

My inbox shows only 3 unread emails, but the total for the folder shows 32. If I use filter for 'attachment emails' it displays 12 emails but not the unread ones. I have played with the filters and it will only display 3 unread and if selected 12 attachment emails. I have two accounts on thunderbird email client on Win 11 and the other one is fine, this one only started to have the display issues over the last week. I have compared all the settings for both accounts and they are the same (except for addresses). How can i get the inbox to show all 32 emails

When I added a new subfolder it disappeared. When I tried to add it again it just shows up. Today I can't add a new subfolder and the info in the folder I had won't show up.
