This has happened the last two times I've tried to write a reply. I will be writing along and all of a sudden the screen dims and I get the blue circle thingy. Thunderbird locks up and doesn't come back but the red exit button is available. Of course, I lose all the reply I've written. I've never run into this error before and I've been using Thunderbird for years. I'm running v. 139.0.2 (64-bit) on a win-11 laptop, Firefox in the background but no other programs running. I clear my cache at the beginning of every month, so I did that this morning before starting any programs.

Need help with Thunderbird. No matter what I tried always comes back to the same problem.

Problem: Keep getting message non responding. Very buggy, difficult deleting emails (will delete after a prolong period of time > 5 sec). When typing a message there will be no characters then after a short period of time the charterer typed shows up. Sometime without and reason while using Thunderbird it close by itself.

What I have down to solve the problem: 1. Start in safe mode Thunderbird operates as expected with any issues. 2. Win 10 environment, closed all apps and made sure there was no extensions running. Made sure the only app open on the task manger was Thunderbird. NO SOLUTION FOUND 3. Download and install latest version of Thunderbird. NO SOLUTION FOUND 4. Created a new profile file. NO SOLUTION FOUND

Need help, what else is there to try short of a total Nuclear solution?

I have a fresh install of ubuntu 24.04.3,... on my AMD 'go-faster' PC. S/w all up to date,.. and snaps up to date. In my pursuit of migrating TB email from one m/c to another,... nothing works,.. least of all the TB i/f. My TB screen looks as follows:- with only a few seconds in-between shots. This 'font' type issue is my primary problem,.. and is consistent even if a create a 'new profile',.. emails are display still with funny fonts, ( which change as my mouse moves over them ). secondary issue is in copying over my '.thunder' folder structure, from one m/c to new one,.. is TB insists on creating new profile,.. as it reports profile is outdated,.. yet as far as I can see both are running TB 140.2.0esr 64 bit. I have tried several clean installs,.. but results 'seem' to be the same. Does anyone have any ideas...

Recently when I download messages they are blank in the inbox, but when opened they are in source code! This happens with all accounts. It was working correctly up until 7th August. The only update since then was for .net! I'm running latest Windows 11. When I uninstall, then reinstall Thunderbird, initially any messages download correctly, but any further downloads revert back to the problem in question. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Ray

reinstalled Thunderbird 140.0.1esr (64-bit). When I attempt to Write a new email: gibberish shows p in the text body. Canot overwrite; have deleted previous version and reinstalled current one; followed trouble shooting steps in Safe mode without change. This doe not ocur in my Android devices. It appears in each of the two email accounts I have running in Thunderbird, 1) gmail, and 2) email account from my business website. New Message Button Does Not Work On TB v.140.0.1esr Local Folders

[I am starting a new post because I was replying to someone else's post and it stopped working.] After updating to TB v.140.0esr (then just now updating to v.140.0.1esr)… (funda kabanzi)

[I am starting a new post because I was replying to someone else's post and it stopped working.]

After updating to TB v.140.0esr (then just now updating to v.140.0.1esr) from v.128esr, I cannot compose a new message in any Local Folders or my main virtual inbox. The +New Message button is there, but clicking it does nothing. It was working for over a decade before this.

However, going into the normal account folder inboxes DOES allow me to click the "+New Message" button and start/compose a new message.

I can still reply to messages in the local and virtual folders, just not start a new message.

I have tried disabling all security software. No luck.

I have ran Help > Troubleshoot mode with no addons. No luck.

When I create a new folder under Local Folders, clicking New Message still does nothing while in that new folder. But if I move that new folder to an existing email account, then go to the new folder, clicking New Message works correctly.

I am on Windows 10. I did use the addon Manually Sort Folders in the past, but not recently.

I ran the Check Error Console (ctrl+shift+J) on TB v.140.0esr. Here is the paste:

I opened Thunderbird and could not get to the inbox or any other folders—it shows only the donations page. This is not okay. I do donate. Not much, not too often, but I do. However, if I open e-mail client and want to use it, then this is not a right moment to asking for donations. Or I should be able to do what I came to do and deal with donations issue later.

If you want users to pay for Thunderbird, it is of course okay, but please let us know in advance, give some time to mull it over and then clear the sheets. It is most inconvenient when this kind of issue is raised when you actually need to do something. And the message is unclear - how often and how much I need to donate (pay) in order to get to use Thunderbird without interruptions?

Thank you in advance and I do like Thunderbird. Just not this approach.

PS. Sorry for my bad English, not native speaker. PPS. Or, maybe this is some error that donations page does not "go away"?

I tried removing the yale account and reinstalling it unsuccessfully. See attachment. The Yale IT rep told me that Yale very recently added security features that are probably preventing Thunderbird from working with it. They told me to use the Outlook app. Is there anyway I can get Thunderbird to work with my yale.edu outlook email account?

Can't connect Xfinity e-mail account to Thunderbird

I installed Thunderbird (T-bird), and on the "Set Up Your Existing Email Address" tab, I entered my Xfinity e-mail address/password and clicked on "Continue". T-Bird is a… (funda kabanzi)

T-Bird is able to find the proper configuration in the Mozilla ISP database. I clicked the IMAP radio button and then "Done". That opens a popup window with the heading "Enter credentials for <my-email-address> on imap.comcast.net, but the window never prompts for anything (a prompt for my Xfinity password is what I expected). Instead I just get a message headlined "Unable to connect", with the subtitle "The connection was refused when attempting to contact localhost". This is followed by three suggestions for why that might be the case. I verified that: 1. The Xfinity site is NOT "temporarily unavailable" - I can log into Xfinity directly and see my messages. 2. My computer's network connection is operational since I can load any website at will. 3. I do have Windows firewall enabled, and I suspect that is root of the problem. How can I permit T-Bird to access the web??? Thanks.

Thunderbird is not synchronizing with Mailfence. My other email accounts (Outlook, Gmail) work fine. TB connects to them, downloads message headers and displays the number of messages correctly. With Mailfence, the messages stop at "connected to imap.mailfence.com" and stalls there. The message disappears after a few seconds and nothing else happens. This happened this morning when I first launched TB. I then got an update to 128.11.1. No change. I did receive the Windows Update 2025-06 Cumulative Update sometime overnight prior to launching TB.

Guten Tag, ich arbeite mit Thunderbird auf Linux Mint. Jeweils in den aktuellsten Versionen: Linux Mint 22.1 Cinnamon Thunderbird 128.11.0esr (64-Bit)

Auf meinem bisherigen Rechner begann Thunderbird mit dem letzten Upgrade von Linux Mint langsamer zu laufen. Da ich mir nicht anders zu helfen wusste, habe ich in einen neuen Computer investiert. Obwohl der Rechner jetzt deutlich performanter sein sollte, hängt Thunderbird mindestens genauso wie vorher. Zum Teil ruft Thunderbird auf dem neuen Rechner auch keine neuen E-Mails mehr ab. Ein Neustart korrigiert das zwar wieder, aber beim nächsten Start kann es dann wieder genauso sein.

Alles, was man in den Foren findet, um Thunderbird schneller zu machen, habe ich erledigt. Cache gelöscht, im abgesicherten Modus gestartet (da ist Thunderbird genauso langsam). Auch verschieben von Nachrichten in Archivordner brachte keine wirkliche Besserung.

Ich nutze Thunderbird für 7 Kalender (zum Teil lokal) und 10 E-Mail-Adressen bei unterschiedlichen Anbietern.

Als Add-on habe ich DKIM Verifyer installiert und aktiv.

Ehrlich gesagt, bin ich inzwischen ziemlich verzweifelt, was das Thema angeht. Witzigerweise lassen sich die Entwicklerwerkzeuge nicht aufrufen. Keine Ahnung, ob das vielleicht ein Indiz für den Fehler sein könnte.

Hat jemand eine Idee? Oder noch Fragen?
