I have a new M1 Ultra based Mac Studio. Using the latest Thunderbird 91.10.0. When I click on a email the mail is supposed to open in the bottom pane. Now, unless I restart T-bird several times the email text or other content does NOT open. Also when I select a different email, the content pane does not update. This is a real problem.

Does anyone else have this. Is Mozilla aware of this issue. I have completely reinstalled the app and reset all the server info, but the problem persists. This never occurred on my older MacPro with the Intel Chip even though on the same OS release: Mac OS Monterey 12.4

I am receiving emails OK. After restarting my computer, I can send a few emails successfully but after a while, when trying to send an email, the "Sending message" window just hangs. I then need to restart my computer before I can send emails again. This is of course, a drag. I would like an explanation/solution please

New subfolder not showing in tree

Hi

When I create a new subfolder (right click on parent, select new subfolder) the new subfolder does not display in the tree on the left hand pane. The folder has been created - if I go to the Subscribe option I can see it there, ticked. If I log into my Gmail account on the web page I can see it there. If I shut down TB and restart it, it appears. I have tried the Subscribe option detailed here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1058346 but no change.

and looked at the Profile fix here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/987821 but I do not have a ImapMail folder in my Profile.

TB version 91.9.1 (64-bit) Running on Linux Mint 20.3 Una

In the previous version of TB this worked OK, but I can't say for sure if this started happening immediately after the upgrade or not.

Any suggestions gratefully received!

Thunderbird fails to start; no fix I have tried is working

Windows 10 Home. I've been using Thunderbird for years without issue, and it was working fine last time I accessed it. After an auto reboot (I'm not sure if TB was open that session or not), Thunderbird absolutely fails to start. At all. I get a momentary hourglass, then nothing - no errors, nothing in Task Manager, even if I have it up when I try to start TB. I've tried from start bar, desktop, file location.

I've tried starting in safe mode (same lack of response), deleting any of the files that should be recreated on startup, rebooting the computer... still no response at all. I have decades (literally) of emails stored in the app's files.

I tried using MozBackup (yea, it's ancient but it's what I have) and received an error: Problem with backup email account! Account [filepath]\JodiTbirdProfile\ImapMail\imap.gmail-1.com (but! The profile that was being backed up - the only one offered besides the *.default* was JodiTbirdProfile2) ... and a couple similar errors for other files that I actually don't care about. At the moment it is still running... probably need to clean up my mail databases again....

Appreciate any assistance! If there's a newer/better third party app to back up Thunderbird before I start... that'd be great info too!

Thunderbird update pop-up

This message is constantly popping up: "thunderbird can't update to the latest version", but it is already up to date: ver 91.10.0(64 bit). How do I fix this?

Secure Connection Failed error while sending email using OAuth2.

When I try to update my account settings in thunderbird from password to oauth2, I am getting secure connection failed error. Imap working fine with password. Thunderbird version 78.7.0 ( 32 bit). Tried accessing outlook.office365.com works without error. Option OAUTH2 giving error.

Hi. At the beginning of the year my email host upgraded their servers to a super mega one. The incoming POP address was change to the new one. Thunderbird created a new inbox which only received new emails. My old ones had disappeared. On my Mac the folder 'Metadata' showed Thunderbird with old inbox (red dot) and the new inbox (Yellow dot), whilst the green dot folder has some remaining files (2016/7), see screen grab. I copied all the old emails across to the new yellow dot inbox folder (years of emails) but they do not show in my email browser window. I have R clicked the browser inbox and re-paired the folder to no avail. I have searched for the 'Inbox.msf' and found five with old dates, see screen grab.

On my new laptop, Thunderbird is locking up and lagging over and over. It happens to everything I try to do when I start the program, and then after I use the program for awhile, everything is OK until I get an incoming email - then Thunderbird locks up until the email is fully loaded.

When I first load the program lags are happening when I: Select a menu, choose an email to view, when I try to type something the cursor freezes and then after a short wait it types what I just typed. Pretty much all operations lag a lot, even clicking on the X to close the window. After I use the program for awhile, this gets better, but not 100%. As I mentioned the program lags when I get an incoming email.

I only have one add-on installed and it's disabled. It's called, "Manually Sort Folders." I have the latest version of Thunderbird. I'm running Windows 11 64 bit. My laptop has Optane memory built in. Is the Optane technology causing this? When I run Firefox I have no issues at all - even if Thunderbird does.

As you can imagine this is frustrating when I get to work and I have to answer a lot of emails. Would you guys walk me through possible solutions?

Ever since I upgraded Thunderbird to 91.9.0 (64-bit), it has been freezing consistently and repeatedly - upon startup, and every 30 minutes, it freezes for approximately 5 minutes and 40 seconds. Then it unfreezes and works fine. But then 24 minutes and 20 seconds later, it freezes once again, going "Not Responding" in Windows 10.

When it freezes, Thunderbird uses 12-16% of my CPU, and memory usage steadily climbs, going up 0.1-0.2Mb each second, and goes back down to normal on the unfreeze.

Now, what have I done? It still happens in Troubleshooting mode. It happens in Troubleshooting mode while Windows is in Safe Mode With Networking. Adding an exception in my antivirus (NOD32) did nothing, as did turning off Allow Windows Search Messages in Advanced. Turning off Check For New Messages in Account settings does nothing. Nothing consistent shows up in the Error Console either, but I'm not a coder, so don't really know what to look for.

Ideas?

I'm in the process of transitioning from Outlook to TB, I've got heaps of emails in folders I somehow need to transfer across as I often need to refer to them, so I need to STOP receiving emails to Outlook without actually shutting it down.

Why is my DEFAULT selection of TB not working and how can I fix that?

also - I would be grateful for any tips on transferring my Outlook emails in folders to TB. Can I somehow just transfer the folders?

gmail accounts passwords not being remembered

Hi, not sure when this kicked in, but every time I check a google email account in TB I get asked for the username and password and then asked if I want these details to be remembered. I of course click yes, but every time I go to access anything in my gmail account (sent, inbox ...) I get asked for the account credentials again.

I've checked in TB settings and the username and password have not been added to the list of saved passwords.

I have had to disable auto-checking of google emails on TB startup as it just keeps asking for my password. Any ideas how to fix this please? The Authentication Method chosen is OAuth2 and the Connection Security is SSL/TLS. It seems using the old way of STARTTLS with Normal Password is no longer working, hence the reason I needed to change the settings.

With the old way TB would ask if I wanted to store the password. The new OAuth2 way doesn't save it. I have even tried to force the save of credentials by trying the old way just so it stores them and then reverting to the OAuth2 way - if that makes sense. (I deleted the credentials from TB after reading a post somewhere about this problem so I'm not even convinced that they would be referenced if I managed to re-save them anyway!)

Any help would be much appreciated.
