Thunderbird 115.8.1 64bit (I do not know when the last update happened) on Windows 10 64 bit After migrating to Thunderbird from another mailprogram, I have been receiving emails with pictures displayed in them for about a year without problem. Suddenly 2 days ago no more pictures are shown within the emails. Only links. I have not changed any configs. Is that a feature which has come via update? I have activated that external content is allowed in mails. Any idea why TB suddenly behaves like that and what I can do?

I don't use Windows Mail and have Thunderbird as my default email. However, when on a website using Firefox, and click on a "contact us" link to activate an email message to the website folks, a Windows Mail composition window opens instead of a Thunderbird composition window. I have to copy the email address out of the Windows Mail "To" field and paste into the Thunderbird "To" field.

How do I configure things such that clicking on a web link to open and start an email to said website results in that occurring in Thunderbird and not Windows Mail?

I'm on Win11 with latest Thunderbird as default email app and use latest Firefox browser.

Thanks! Eric

I receive several newsletters with lots of links. The newsletter writers send their product out with covered links. For instance https://xyz.link is hidden under "XYZ information", underlined so the reader knows it's a link. Thunderbird converts the links to raw links. I cannot for the life of me why Thunderbird does this. It makes the newsletters almost impossible to read. I'm attaching a screenshot. I took one newsletter into my Libre Write to restore the newsletter to it's readability. It took me two hours. I hope there is a way I can take control of how the links arrive in my email.

I'm trying to change my pop3 account to imap to sync with my aol.com account. I've gone through the process of setting up a new account in TB and added the aol IMAP and SMTP settings, but the "checking password" at the top of the page never goes away. I'm using the same password that I use to access aol.com from the web.

There must be some secret that I'm missing. Thanks.

I have played with View options and checked all settings I can see. I am happy with font size of the table view, and the sidebar with folders. But the pane below (i have vertical display) where the actual body content of emails is shown (and this applies to displaying them in new tabs too), the font is really small, smaller than the table view above. I can't find any way to increase this font size, is it possible? Thanks

I like to have newest emails at the top of the list rather than bottom. I have just moved 30GB of email data to TB from 20 yrs on Mac Mail. Hooray!

I don't need to explain how many local folders I've got, and the pain it will be to sort every folder manually!

Please could someone advise me how to force all folders to sort by date/descending? thanks

I contribute monthly to Thunderbird, is there any way to disable the default page asking for donations?

Instead, you could just have a page that says thanks for a contribution (and a link to the page for managing it).

Or, I guess is there some way to edit that default page when launching Thunderbird?

If I mark a message as Unread, it appears in the list of messages in boldface type. But I am finding it very hard to distinguish those in bold from other messages that have been read and are not bold. Is there anything in advanced settings that would allow me to change the fill colour in the listing box, or perhaps the colour of the type, in order to distinguish unread messages more visibly from those I have read? Thanks!

I need help editing the personal dictionary in Thunderbird. Tonight I accidentally told it to save a misspelled word. I clicked on edit in the window, and it brought up my dictionary, but it was way longer than my screen, and I could find no scroll bar. It also would not let me move the dictionary window! Can anyone help me overcome this so I can delete the incorrect word?

Thanks!

Am I right in assuming that it is not possible to save e-mail addresses to the Mac OS address book? If I click on a senders address there is only the option "save to address book" which will save the address in my Thunderbird address book.

So while it is possible to access the Mac address book from Thunderbird and even set it as default for when opening the address book tab it doesn't seem possible to actually save addresses into it.

I would prefer having only one address book instead of two.

Dock mailing lists to the top of Address Book by default

Is it possible to find a way to make Mailing Lists sit at the top of their Address Book by default?

I have looked for an answer but can't seem to find anyone asking this question. I am sure that previous versions (to 102/115) did this naturally but the new versions are different.

For example, in one Address Book I have created a mailing list called Regulars. Previously, all mailing lists show at the top whenever viewing the Address Book, so Regulars would be at the top followed by the first "A" email address. Now, the mailing lists are integrated alphabetically, so that Regulars appears down the list, amongst the "R" emails.

With the contact list now so excessively spread out (yes, I have tried and failed at that unfixable problem), it requires lots of scrolling and searching to find mailing lists. This is illogical, considering the purpose of mailing lists is to make it easy to select a whole group of addresses quickly.

At the moment, I have found a workaround by numbering the list (eg 1. Regulars) but I would prefer to find a way to make the lists behave as they used to. Is that possible?

(I am familiar with userchrome, at a basic level, so I would be able to insert code if necessary).
