Win10 system, fully updated Thunderbird (102.2.2, 64b)

For example: I want to re-check the details on a email I received upon making an online purchase awhile back. I go to the Purchases folder for that email account, find the email listing, click on it and I am served up a completely different & unrelated email body.

Looking back thru just my ProtonMail Purchases folder, something appears to have occurred between the 24th & 31st of July'22. The Amazon email @SUBJ dated on July 31st (and all after it) correctly links to the Amazon purchase email but the next in line dated on the 24th (also Amazon) points to an AIM Surplus purchase email.

This has occurred on neither my primary LAN computer nor on the Proton email server.

So ... since it is, apparently, a Local Issue, what I am considering ...

Make sure that my afflicted laptop is offline, both WAN & LAN, startup T-Bird, nuke all of the saved emails in that folder from, say 31July back and once it is finished with that, shutdown.

Start back up WITH full network connectivity and restart T-Bird ... hoping that the missing saved emails that the Proton server "knows" should be there will be D/Led by the Proton server.

Sound like it should work?

Hello, since a few days I have the problem that sent mails don't appear in the sent folder. But the mails are sent. The problem exists only in one account and it's IMAP. I have other IMAP accounts also that don't have this problem. It's just one specific account which has the problem since 4 days - but no settings were changed. Any ideas?

I recently had an update to T-Bird. Now, all of my incoming and outgoing emails are in black font. I prefer the blue font which I had prior to the update. I have gone into Account Settings, Settings, and Tools to try and rectify the problem. All of my font settings are set to blue but all emails, incoming and outgoing have the black font. Please help!

Recent limit of 10,000 emails in my inboxes

Until recently, my AOL, Netscape and Yahoo accounts in TB all displayed all emails in my inbox, some 40,000+ for each account. Then suddenly, first my AOL account, then t… (funda kabanzi)

Until recently, my AOL, Netscape and Yahoo accounts in TB all displayed all emails in my inbox, some 40,000+ for each account. Then suddenly, first my AOL account, then the Netscape account and now the Yahoo accounts are all limited to 10,000 emails in the inbox on TB. They all still reside on the web based programs, AOL, Netscape (AOL), and Yahoo. Years of emails just vanished. I tried deleting and re loading my AOL account hoping to repopulate it with the web based emails in the inbox but it came back with the most recent 10,000. I used the inbox like a search engine for subjects, attachments and correspondents in the past and that is all but impossible on the web based programs. Is there any way to return to the all inclusive storage of emails, especially to repopulate from the web based programs?

I have just upgraded to TB 102. I have three email addresses set up on TB. In the case of two of the addresses my Inbox, Drafts, Sent, Trash etc folders have all disapp… (funda kabanzi)

I have just upgraded to TB 102. I have three email addresses set up on TB. In the case of two of the addresses my Inbox, Drafts, Sent, Trash etc folders have all disappeared.

In the case of the third address, the address itself and all the folders have disappeared.

How can I get them to display like they were before the upgrade?

After 30 or so emails downloaded this morning from Comcast, the following error appeared: The RETR command did not succeed. Error retrieving a message. Mail server mail.… (funda kabanzi)

After 30 or so emails downloaded this morning from Comcast, the following error appeared:

The RETR command did not succeed. Error retrieving a message. Mail server mail.comcast.net responded: Message 109 expunged.

It started with message 111 but has dropped by 1 each time the attempt was made. When I login directly to my comcast account, there are no error messages seen except that for a while, the email symbol had a red dot at the bottom which has now gone away. Cannot get tech support at Comcast and the local office has no technical support capability.

Been using Gmail with POP3 settings for several years. About 2 weeks ago it stopped working. I have 2 step authentication enabled. Just stopped and cant recognize username and password. I am using Windows 11 Peo and latest version of Thunderbird. Any suggestions? Or should I remove it and use Outlook?

3rd post - it would be nice to get a response. I cannot send emaIL FROM THIS WIN 10 FULLY UPDated APP. The error message as above appears all the time (and does not cancel after 1 hour or whatever). Email can be sent using the same smtp settings from various Android devices. Forum suggestions do not cure the problem.

This, along with all the other annoying glitches within T'bird, seem to be forcing me to abandon using T'bird after many, many years. Shame.

I have 2 address books. In the window for composing a new message I get suggestions only from the default address book.

Prior to Thunderbird 102 I used to receive suggestions from all my address books.

How to fix it?

Thunderbird changed over night, and is VERY jacked up... none of my inboxes have anything in them, and one of my Email addresses and folder don't exist!!! I received a response from my earlier rant


Try the following:

Set this setting:

   'View' > 'Folders' > 'All' 

Then do this:

   Menu icon > Help > More Troubleshooting Information
   Under 'Application Basics' - half way is Profile Folders - click on 'Open Folder' 

window opens showing contents of your profile name folder

   Exit Thunderbird now - this is important 

Scroll down and delete the following files:

   folderCache.json
   folderTree.json
   virtualFolders.dat
   session.json
   xulstore.json 

Click on 'Mail' folder

   delete 'smart mailboxes' folder 

(do not worry if it does not exist - it just means you have never used Unified)

Start Thunderbird.

Please Report back on results.


BUT IM ON A MAC....SO I NEED HELP IN MY SYSTEM TO GET THIS STRAIGHTENED OUT....OR I PREFER TO GO BACK TO THE OLD PLATFORM....THAT WASN'T BROKE!!!

I have two INBOXes A & B combined in a Smart INBOX. When composing a new message while in INBOX A, TB uses email A, when in INBOX B, TB uses B. But when composing whi… (funda kabanzi)

I have two INBOXes A & B combined in a Smart INBOX. When composing a new message while in INBOX A, TB uses email A, when in INBOX B, TB uses B. But when composing while in the combined Smart INBOX, where I usually am, TB **always** uses email B, which is unwanted. A is set as default in SMTP, is the first account in the account folder list and the first account in the combined Smart INBOX. I do not find any other possible settings to influence which "From" address he picks when composing messages from a combined Smart INBOX.
