Hey guys! I am trying to set up Thunderbird to work with ProtonMail. I got through the first few steps in the guide here: https://protonmail.com/bridge/ Since ProtonMail is encrypted, the bridge decrypts the incoming emails and encrypts the out coming ones. I had no problems installing and configuring the ProtonMail bridge. Where I get a problem is with the instructions to configure Thunderbird. I contacted ProtonMail support but no replies yet.

The Thunderbird I installed is version 68.9.0. Here is where I get stuck: https://protonmail.com/bridge/thunderbird#1 The instructions are as follows: "To configure the bridge with Thunderbird, first open the application and right-click in the sidebar. Choose Settings"

Problem is, the Thunderbird page I get looks nothing like the one pictured in the ProtonMail guide. And when I right-click on the sidebar nothing happens. I can't find 'settings' anywhere.

Can you help?

Recent messages disappeared from folder display

I just did something that has caused recent messages in a particular folder to become hidden. I cannot figure out how to make them visible again. Here's how it happened.

I have a folder A that contains a lot of messages. I tried to click on it in the folders sidebar to make it the active folder. Unfortunately, it was a click/drag that resulted in moving folder A to inside folder B. I didn't realize this at the time. Because of the size of folder A, Thunderbird went into a big loop (doing its work) that I interpreted as a lockup. I killed the Thunderbird process from Task Manager.

When I brought Thunderbird back up, I noticed folder A was not there at the top level. I eventually found it in folder B, and moved it back out. Unfortunately, messages in folder A from the past 2 1/2 months no longer show up in the display of folder A contents. This includes incoming messages which certain message rules move from Inbox to folder A. The messages are still in folder A: I can search for a specific message that I know is there, and the resultant list shows that it is in folder A, and I can click on it in that search-list and see the message. But it (and all recent messages) are not displayed in the folder A list when I select folder A from the folders sidebar.

I'm sure it's a matter of rebuilding some pointers that were destroyed when I killed Thunderbird. But how do I do that?

Really liking Thunderbird, but for the last few days I've been getting a very noticeable slowdown of my computer about once a day, which eventually stops once the error message from Thunderbird appears, saying something like "script is busy chrome://messenger/content/folderDisplay.js:203" and it gives me the option of stopping the script.

Is this related to the chat function? If so, is there an option to just disable that entirely? I don't use that function at all.

Program stopped and lost all emails and cannot recover - I cannot get a password change to get back my file. It says the file exists on your servers but won’t allow to get to them. We have been using this email service for several years without too many issues. How do I recover these files? I have followed your password dialogue with no change. I have gone to the host site at mail.yahoo.com and got recent emails and a massive trash file with older emails-some of them need to be saved. We also established files in the left column for business and escrow data which we can only get upon full retrieval of the data. Please help if you can and thanks.

Deleted a lot of emails, uninstalled and then reinstalled Chrome( didn't do anything)

Can I reinstall Thunderbird( If that is only option) I have current Profile as well as saved Profile from May 15 ( did not have the problem then)....

All of a sudden, message content no longer shows in messages. Everything now shows as links. How do I correct to show messages again?

Hi all, I'am left in serious troubles after the most recent update of Thunderbird to version 68.10.0. This morning (before the update) all went well, after the update this afternoon, I'm not longer able to send emails. Receiving is no problem. I added a screenshot of my SMTP settings. Windows 10 with latest updates. Service provider is Telenet (Belgium), but the problem is not located there, because their webmail functions normally. No firewall. Antivirus Avast Free edition (turned it off to try, but no solution).

I gave my name, phone number, and email to a phishing scheme.....woke the next morning feeling like something was wrong, googled the email address the "facebook marketplace seller" had given me, and found the address all over the internet selling cars at too-good-to-be-true prices :( My email address is used for financial accounts and other important stuff. Do I need to get a new email address for those accounts? Is my computer (Mac) now more vulnerable to hacking?

Hotmail Duplicate Messages in sent folder

I use thunderbird (windows 10) as a client for 2 gmail and 2 hotmail accounts the problem I have is that all emails sent from the 2 hotmail accounts using thunderbird are… (funda kabanzi)

I use thunderbird (windows 10) as a client for 2 gmail and 2 hotmail accounts the problem I have is that all emails sent from the 2 hotmail accounts using thunderbird are duplicated (also on server outlook.com) to their respective sent folders and are identical apart from size which for the smaller emails is a difference of exactly 1.3kb so unable to delete with any duplicate email utility, when sent from hotmail/outlook.com on the web they are not duplicated, I guess it must have something to do with hotmail settings but not sure which, have experimented in the past without luck, am also concerned about manually deleting the duplicates as some are important without understanding what I am doing so any help would be appreciated.

I've been trialling Thunderbird over the last month, migrating all my data into it. Just now, I noticed that the icon in my taskbar which I've been using to connect to Thunderbird, was missing, with a broken bookmark link. The program files were gone. I then reinstalled Thunderbird but to my dismay it is telling me that the latest version is incompatible with my previous one.

How has this happened, and what can I do?

I would appreciate any help anyone can suggest. It makes me really worried.

I use the tagging feature a lot. I have created two additional colors and changed the names of the original template to custom. I can go through and tag stuff with the color associated. While tagging, I can see the other previous messages I tagged in whatever color drop off (Real time) - Seems to happen with cyan and yellow most (Which happen to be the custom colors I chose) Not sure if this is a bug, or if the team is aware, just throwing it out there. I updated tonight to the most recent version, and re-tested, problem still there.

Anyone in community know of a work-around until resolved, I would be eternally grateful Or an extension that might do a better job than the native program

I recently upgraded to TB 68.9.0. The colours that used to be the background for headers in the inbox view (subject, from, date etc.) have disappeared. Without these, I find the headers look like the email messages below. I have downloaded the Account Colors add-on, but I can’t see how this might solve the problem – not sure how to operate this add-on. Any guidance to get the coloured background for the inbox message headers back will be much appreciated.

Hi- My question is about the standard signature separator (the "--" that automatically appears above the signature to separate it from the body of the email). It works normally (automatically appears) when I'm composing a new email, but doesn't appear at all when replying to or forwarding a message. I realize this is not a big deal and that there are workarounds, but it would be nice to not have to deal with it at all. Is this a bug in the software, or is there a setting that should be changed? I've already checked both the global and account composition settings, but didn't find anything about this issue. I'm running TB 68.9.0 on Mac OSX 10.13.6 (High Sierra). Thanks for any insight you can provide.

endless daily notices of failed delivery on Thunderbird

For the past 2 weeks I get a DAILY, sometimes twice daily, notification from something called mailer-daemon@comcast.net about a "Temporary" delivery failure. The messages… (funda kabanzi)

For the past 2 weeks I get a DAILY, sometimes twice daily, notification from something called mailer-daemon@comcast.net about a "Temporary" delivery failure. The messages consists of endless lines of gibberish (meaningless to me, I'm not a computer expert), about a supposed failed delivery to an apparently nonexistent site called "info@biofiore.com". Perhaps I've been spammed, perhaps I accidentally hit the wrong button on a spam email. How many times do I need to be told?

Is there some way I can stop this plague? Is there some way to tell mailer-daemon@comcast.net to stop this bombardment? It's meaningless and unwelcome. Is there a way to disable mailer-daemon@comcast.net for good? "Daemon" is an accurate description of this pestilence. Your help would be gratelfully appreciated.
