I am using Windows 11 and Thunderbird. A few days ago I was asked to type my password every time I opened the mail program. But the password is not accepted now. I have used the mail program for years without this problem. How do I fix it?

bold text4 or 5 years ago i simply synced TB and Firefox straight to my laptop from my desktop. Today it does not seem to work that way. Why has it gotten more complicated? I have all of my emails, address's and etc.saved profile and cannot seem to replace it. I tried the thunderbird.exe -p and it gets confusing there. Apparently it does not give one the option to replace profile like mine, but one can create one. I tried creating by entering my old Profile and it did not work. It says to use the Browse button which should bring you to the actual spot to add your profile. I do not see a 'Browser" button, but do see 2 separate folders buttons, but i do not know which to choose, if any. I have donated in the past when things were working smoothly, but discourged to add to it now with all these upgrade mess's. Like they say, "if it ain't broken, leave it alone..." s amd

I am a longtime Thunderbird user, currently running 115.6.0 (32-bit). Very recently Windows Defender is detecting malware it identifies as Trojan:HTML/Phish!pz. Defender is unable to quarantine or eliminate the threat.

The specific file is appearing in Volume Shadow Copy data when I am running backup: file: \Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy55\Users\fhanz\AppData\Local\Thunderbird\Profiles\sootdszw.default-release\cache2\entries\342F92977A0BA0715CB8880A9289BC8F8827262C

I've attempted several times to remove the offending file(s), but the problem returns.

What is the best method to determine the source of this malware and effectively eliminate it returning?

If it matters, I use Chrome as my default browser.

Start new Windows session. Start Thunderbird and works OK. Shut Thunderbird down and try to re-start during same Windows session and it will not launch. Reboot Windows and try to start Thunderbird and works OK. Alternatively, going into Task Manager there will be a number of Thunderbird processes running. If I manually end them all (while Thunderbird is NOT active) then I can restart as normal too. This all began with 124.0 Beta 1. Never had the issue prior.

Also, Thunderbird crashes if restarting within the app. By this I mean clicking the X it appears to close (excepting those persistent processes running) but "Restart Thunderbird" such as to launch Troubleshooting mode or from the "Restart to update Thunderbird" config crashes the app with 100% consistency.

When trying to send an email, I received an error message saying that my incoming and outgoing email in settings must match. They do! Still cannot send an email. My ISP says the problem is on your end - something to do with the routing after thunderbird was updated. They said quite a few people are having the same issue. Please fix this!

Unable to Re-Install -> Downloaded Installer, but installation gives the same "unfinished update error"

I already copied the "Thunderbird" Folder from the "AppData/Roaming" Folder. Is this the correct Data Backup so I don't loose my emails?

My email is not receiving and cannot send emails. A message shows up saying that the server has been disconnected. How can someone who has no computer expertise fix this problem. My business emails come to this email. Should we get rid of it completely? We Need Help Fast. I've been posting messages but nobody has responded yet. Suddenly, I can't send email from my Thunderbird (115.6.1 (64 Bit)) Windows app. Spectrum is my email provider. I can receive email just fine. However, when I respond to an email and when I send a newly created email or replying to a receive email, I get the following error message - " Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: <[edited] @tx.rr.com> sender rejected. The email address you are sending as must match the email address you used to auth. Please check your SMTP settings. AUP#Out-1500. Please verify that your email address is correct in your account settings and try again."

I've been using Spectrum and Thunderbird for many-many years. This problem is going to cost me big-time if not resolved soon. I love THUNDERBIRD!

First up, I'm a happy user of Thunderbird with some years of experience. I make use of filters, and up until about 2 weeks ago they all worked. Now two of my filters (not all) have stopped working automatically, and I have to go to Tools/Message Filters and run them manually.

I'm on TB 102.15.1.

I have deleted the non-working filters and re-created them. No change in behavior.

I would NOT like to de-install/re-install TB because it's a good deal of work, and TB is a critical system for me.

That said, I keep a laptop computer for travel, and the filters work on that platform. IS THERE A WAY to copy a file or folder over from the working laptop onto my desktop machine, where the filters have failed?

I had a crash on my desktop PC, possibly due to an erroneous action of mine, which occurred on December 20th, which has ended with my PC, which after entering the password, the screen locks to black.
