since a while my Thunderbird stopped downloading any mails. Instead it always asks to type in the passwort again but also after doing that, it just doesn't load any new mails. But I also never got any other error message. I use two different email providers (gmail and gmx) and neither of them work any more. I tried updating my Thunderbird. Now I have version 91.10.0 (64-Bit) installed but it still didn't get any better. Then I thought it might be due to the OAuth 2.0 thing that gmail now uses (which still wouldn't explain the problems I have with my other email provider), so I checked for the necessary preferences and the passwort it was indeed not set to the authentication method OAuth. I changed it and then the prompt asking for a passwort changed to the one from gmail. But even after typing in the correct data and clicked on "allow" for Thunderbird to use the necessary gmail data, it can't connect and gave an authentication error. Now that I tried to make a screenshot, it doesn't even do that anymore.

I use Windows 10 Home and I didn't change anything that could have caused this and all the account settings should be correct.

So, I don't know what to do anymore and I didn't find any other threads fitting this problem. Can someone please help me?

Last night Thunderbird got my gmail. This morning it fails with:

Sending of password for user [edited] @gmail.com did not succeed. Mail server pop.googlemail.com responded: Username and password not accepted.

I did not make any changes to the account. I can still log in using my browser.

Can receive but not send messages

This AM suddenly could not send messages from 2 email accts. Can still receive messages. I changed pw for my gmail acct and it shows the change in my pw list, but it stil… (funda kabanzi)

This AM suddenly could not send messages from 2 email accts. Can still receive messages. I changed pw for my gmail acct and it shows the change in my pw list, but it still says Login to account google mail failed. Very frustrated older person with lots of volunteer email work waiting to be done today.

Do I need to do anything to ensure that my iMac desktop can seamlessly access Thunderbird 91.9.0 following Google's 30 May deadline re third party apps? My Thunderbird security "accepts all cookies". My Google/Gmail account has "less secure apps" ON

If I sign up for Google's Two-Step verification will this have any bearing on the above or is it quite separate? Many thanks, Old and confused...

I have Thunderbird set up with several different email accounts. In December 2021, one of the email accounts suddenly stopped working. It won't receive or send emails. I didn't change anything.

I'm not knowledgeable about figuring this stuff out, so I'd be very grateful for some help. The email that's not working is a gmail account. At first I was getting an error message about the password not working. I'm positive I'm using the correct password, because I tried it on https://mail.google.com/ and it worked fine.

I have Windows 10. I updated Thunderbird to 91.8.0 (32-bit) and it didn't make any difference -- I still can't receive or send email from the problem account. I didn't change any server settings (they are the same as my other gmail accounts, except for the specific account names).

When I try to get messages, it says says Connected to pop.gmail.com...

then

connection to pop.gmail.com server timed out

I have no idea what this means or what to do. If you need more information about my settings, just let me know what you need and I'll get it.

Thanks for any help you can offer. At this point I'm desperate.
