I upgraded to 68 yesterday and Thunderbird just blew up after a decade of virtually no issues:

1. Upon initial TB loading, won't get new emails, won't load Lightning, ignores all options and account settings

2. Immediately goes to a white page, shows "Not Responding"

3. Immediate goes back to my email, no calendar, no automatic download of email

4. Today's Pane is turned off, have to manually change it to see my calendar

5. Today's pane shows no schedule events

Rinse, Repeat.

What has happened?

Went back to 60.8, all is well.

This is unbelievable that so much core functionality on my desktop is broken.

Windows 10 Build 10586, Edge, MacAfee Total Protection: Yesterday both TBird and MacAfee suddenly didn't work. Seemed to coincide with the latest 10 installation. Reinstalled MacAfee now OK. Many attempts to get TBird going. Went back to version 17.0 which runs but no calendar. Version 38.6.0 loads fine showing file folders, etc., but nothing runs. Can't see new mail although searching for a term produces a normal result. Incoming messages are announced but can't open the Inbox to see them. Have tried installing with MacAfee off with no better result. Am out of ideas.

I have two Google calendars (both for the same Google account) called 'appointments' and 'notes'. I synchronise these with Lightning via caldav. In the appointments calendar I log events, meetings etc. and in the notes calendar I record things I need to remember, e.g. that my pension income is due on a certain day. Such notes are entered as untimed ('all day') events. Sometimes I copy and paste appointments -- e.g. I visit the dentist one day and arrange a further visit, so I copy the original entry to create the new appointment. Recently I have noticed that when I do this the new appointment is entered in the wrong calendar: the start and finish times are preserved but the calendar is changed from 'appointments' to 'notes' and I have to manually correct it.

Is there an option to specify the default calendar for new entries? Or is this a bug? I am using Lightning 4.0.5.2 with Thunderbird 38.5.1 and my operating system is Xubuntu Linux 14.04.2. Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Getting rid of a ghost network calendar entry among TB client's calendars

[ Context: TB 52.1.1 + Lightning on Ubuntu 14.04.5 (64bits) ]

Creating multiple calendars on TB clients, be them local of network based, is no problem.

HOWEVER: if for any reason I need to get rid of a subscribed network calendar entry, I cannot do that. The calendar file location can be a URL or a local file, e.g.: `///home/USER/.thunderbird/lng69e5t.default/calendar-data/SharedGit-cal.ics`

After unsubscribing from the network calendar its entry disappears from the TB client's list of claendars. After either host reboot or relaunch of TB on the host, the unsubscribed entries come back (unchecked). The result is that some clients have 12 unchecked entries (from previous unsubscriptions). They cannot get rid of them. (I found no reference to that issue after crawling the net for a good 20 minutes.)

How do I rid my TB clients from ghost network calendar entries after having unsubscribed the clients from those calendars ? Cheers, -ced

I am running Thunderbird 52.7.0 and have several CalDAV calendars set up with "Read only" unchecked and offline mode enabled.

An annoying problem I have is that when I receive an event notification from someone else and I accept it, I am not given a choice in the pop-up dialog box of which calendar I want that event to go to! The most relevant thread I've found is from many years ago: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=1691595 Which didn't provide a concrete answer.

Also, after the event has been added, it's property window also doesn't show an option to move it to another calendar!

How do I solve this so that I can specify which calendar an event goes to once I've accepted it? Thank you.

CalDAV calendars can be added but keep disabling themselves

Hello,

I've been using Lightning 5.4.1 on Thunderbird 52 to sync my ownCloud CalDAV calendars for a long time. But recently I've upgraded my ownCloud server to version 10.0, and a bizarre thing happened.

All of my ownCloud calendars have been "unchecked" in the calendars list, and clicking on the checkboxes does not check them. So I right clicked on my calendars, selected "Properties", and in the resulting window checked the "Switch this calendar on" box. The strange thing is that my calendar would be switched on for about a second, then suddenly disable itself again.

This is a big show stopper for me as I can't function without my calendars! How do I troubleshoot this problem? Thanks!
