Dear all,

I have the following two issues:

1) Tabs. I close tabs and then close Thunderbird. When I reopen Thunderbird the tabs which I had closed reappear. In fact if I open other tabs and then close Thunderbird and subsequently reopen Thunderbird these newly open tabs do not reappear. It seems to me that the tabs in Thunderbird have been frozen in place so that if I close any tabs the reappear next time I open Thunderbird and if I open a tab it does not reappear when I open Thunderbird next time.

What can I do so that the tabs which I open are not frozen there every time? I want the Calendar to be there all the time but also to be able to determine which tabs should remain closed and which should remain in place next time I open Thunderbird.

2) Attachments. In the past when there were attachments I needed to click on the paper clip, while highlighting the text "Show the attachment pane" and this would expand so that I could see all the attachments. Nowadays when I click it this opens the first attachment and the others remain inaccessible as I can no longer see them or at best only see them fleetingly.

What can I do to restore the ability to click and see all the attachments and then select which I open by double-clicking on it?

Thank you for your replies.

Kind regards, George Nielsen

I can't even figure out what these are called to do a search!

In the pane the previews the selected email, there are buttons to reply, forward, delete, etc. They used to have words on them as well as symbols. Now I only see symbols. How do I get the words back?

TIA

Hello there,

I am switching to Thunderbird form the standard Mail from W10 and discovering lots of new features, but one thing that cannot seem to find is how to keep one old account I have (may junk mails but some useful too) out of the unified folders where my other accounts are (all of them imap). Right now I check it through the web browser but may be I can have it separated in thunderbird too.

Thanks in advance for your time!

According to the help document, "Allow me to view "hidden" attachments" [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/.../configuration-options-attachments] "There is a special view mode for messages which allows you to see all of a message's attachments, even "hidden" ones, in its attachments list. Because this view mode is not needed by most users and could be confusing to some, it is disabled by default. To enable it, install the "Show All Body Parts" add-on."

Unfortunately, the add on "Show All Body Parts" is no longer supported in 91.3.2.

Our non-profit uses Vertical Response Vertical Response for connecting with supporters. When a supporter replies to an email sent via Vertical Response, the return email is attached to a generic form sent to us by VR. I need to view all hidden attachments in order to reply to an email from our supporters. I need to be able to click on the contact_reply.eml attachment in order to reply.

Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Within the last few days Tbird has suddenly started using 24hr time format for everything; both message dates and the calendar rather than the desired 12hr AM/PM. I've made no changes and can't figure out how to change it back. Possibly caused by an update to either Thunderbird, Linux Mint or the Linux kernel, all of which occur pretty regularly - can't say. Only update that looks like it could possibly be causing it is tzdata update from 2021a-0ubuntu0.18.04 to 2021a-2ubuntu0.18.04 on 2021-10-06.

Thunderbird 91.2.0 ubuntu-snap-build-1.0 Linux Mint Cinnamon 19.3 Kernel 5.4.0-87 generic System locale is en_US.UTF-8

Hi. I updated Thunderbird to the latest version (ver. 91 on Win10 64bit) and after few days, I noticed that all tabbed e-mails are missing after closing and opening Thunderbird again. I tried reinstalling Thunderbird - but it makes no difference.

Is it a bug in the latest version of Thunderbird that needs to be fix? Any solutions?

For an email containing an internet address to a pdf file, how do I open the pdf file in Adobe Acrobat AC? Previously I could do this by simply highlighting the pdf file address and hitting return. Under Preferences/General/Files & Attachments, for "Portable Document File (PDF)" I have "Use Adobe Acrobat DC (default)", but that doesn't solve the problem. [I am using Thunderbird 93.3.1 (32-bit) on a Windows 10 computer (64-bit).} Thank you.

My JPG signature file is no longer appearing on my outgoing messages. I hadn't noticed it before, but it seems to have disappeared around the middle of September, about 2 months ago. I checked my settings and I have HTML as the default and it points to my signature file, but it doesn't add the file to outgoing messages. I am running version 95.0b2 (32-bit) on windows 10. How do I get it to add to my messages?

After researching on how to export my inbox to an Mbox file I found the suggestion(s) to use 'ImportExportTool NG' add-on. I installed that and ran it as instructed (right-click on Inbox folder > ImportExportTools NG > Export Folder). The resulting file, Inbox, is not an mbox file, at least not one like gets created by Linux in the /var/spool/mail folder. I cannot open it with mailx directly. It does appear to open with mutt. I can open it with mailx if I remove the \r at the end of each line (since the "standard" mbox format wants a blank line between messages). However, the From line for each message has the datestamp of when the files was exported, not the datestamp of when the actual messages was sent. E.g:

From - Thu Nov 11 23:28:10 2021

versus: From mike@mydom.com Fri Nov 5 08:04:38 2021

Can this be fixed?

It is a terrible waste of time trying to print multiple e-mails when Thunderbird defaults to a print preview that insists on overriding the settings of my system default printer.

I know how I want things printed, and that is what preferences of a system default printer are for.

Is there any way to turn off the Thunderbird default to an unwanted print preview under 91.3.0?
