I have installed Thunderbird on a new (Windows 11) lap-top. When I get to "Account setup>>Set up existing email address", and enter my password, I get the response "Configuration found in Mozilla ISP database", but when I click "Done," there is a long hesitation on "Checking Password", and finally the message pops up "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username, or password." I know my username and password are correct. All configurations appear to match those on my old lap-top. Server is att.net.

I prefer Thunderbird for composing, reading, and replying to emails, and have a decade's worth filed and stored locally on an older lap-top, which I will want to import.

I have had a Thunderbird email program for several years. Recently, when I send an email a copy of it is not saved in the "Sent" folder. My emails are received by reciepents. How do I fix the problem?

I'm having trouble with my Thunderbird password. I have 2 emails with identical settings and passwords. One works fine. The other's asking me for my password. When I enter what I knew for certain was the password I get the message, "Login to server imap.comcast.net with username weissfamily@comcast.net failed." I successfully changed the password still get the same error message. Also I get a Thunderbird popup that says, "Alert from account weissfamily@comcast.net: 1014." This is all above my pay grade. Hi, since I use a set of different browsers for different tasks, it would be great if there was an easy way of opening links from within thunderbird emails to your browser of choice. E.g. via right mouse button: Open Link in ... I use that method in other applications frequently.

This is probably a mess of my own making, having been lazy about back ups. My laptop threw a critical error at me just before Christmas and I could only fix it by doing a reset and reload of Windows 10. (I think it may have been a partial HDD corruption) I selected the option to retain personal data files etc, but the reload wiped almost all my installed programs, including Thunderbird. Documents, etc folders have all survived. I re-installed the latest Thunderbird and it is working fine. However, I appear to have lost my Local Folders (as well as my address book) Not a life-or-death matter, but I would prefer to recover them, if possible. I have an "..@tiscali.co.uk" (TalkTalk) email account, with IMAP settings on the incoming mail and SMTPS on "sent" items. I can see all incoming emails that are still on the server, but the "sent" items folder is empty. All local folders and contents are gone. I have read up on the Thunderbird Profile and understand that it is separate from the program folder. I have used the "Help>Troubleshooting>..." feature to find that my current profile is "zqx......default-release". Using file search, it also indicates that there is another profile file, "k32....j5.default", in the same area. Both have creation dates corresponding to the reload time. I cannot find anything similar in the "Windows.old" folder that was created at the time of the reload. Is it possible that the folder contents are still in the HDD and it is just the file address that is lost? Thanks. Neil

I want to single space my out going messages. I changed the paragraph setting from body text to paragraph format, this temporarily fixed it but it went back to double spacing

I have over 200 emails that I can find in search and can view a preview type showing of emails, I can right click or take any action aside from clicking to open email. But when I try to open email it seem to open a new page that is blank and shows a page just like regular email listing but the field showing emails in blank. This same blank results also happens when I can see emails in search window but click the link to view in list view. I just need to open an email enough to be able to see what email address the original email was sent to. I also will add I cant seem to find any of the emails found in search in any of the accounts that being used in Thunderbird (accounts listed in left side column) Also these emails are 2 years old and the computer may or may not have had a OS reset during that time but not sure.

Here in Jan 2024 suddenly TB will no longer connect to any hotmail or outlook..it says I have to enter a new password but I have not changed my password and can get onto them if I go directly to that site. Any suggestions?

I sent a message a while back about slowness with 115, which I had to download because I had a crash.

There were various suggestions, but no solutions to the excessive slowness with 115. This culminated to day in a long 'no reply' mail which suggested the issue might be the virus checker.....

I checked again the various messages about 115 - most were archived, only one month since they were posted!!

Is there an issue with 115?? I saw a thread which asked was I having issues with it, my answer is yes, is there nobody out there with a suggestion??

Numerous users of Thunderbird have expressed their total dissatisfaction with the recent upgrade, especially the new font and layout in the email lists. Why has the Mozilla team ignored requests to return to the previous load to restore the font and list displays? Do you expect users to support your product when they totally do not like the new version?

Hi Folks. About a year and a half ago I some how got hacked in communication with a help desk somewhere. From that point on , I have not been able to use my Thunderbird email. It asks for my password that I do not have. I have spent hours trying to reset it. I have tried a clean reinstall, but it recognizes me and asks for my password. I have my email addresses saved and would be happy to do a fresh install, but I have not been able to figure out how to do this. I am very much obliged for any help you may offer. Is there a built-in way or an addon that will allow the ability to create folders as a filter action?

I can move or copy to an existing folder but is there a way to make a folder in a specific location with a specific name based on previous parameters.

There are many answers to the question of how to disable message threading. All are from earlier versions than mine, which is 115.7.0 -- as witnessed: Sorry! 0 results found for ‘disable threading in version 115.7.0’ for ‘Thunderbird'

Thunderbird seems to have so many minor changes and alterations in the recent past, that basic usability is affected. Not a good thing.

Once before, a few years ago, Thunderbird got so out of control that I had to go to a different mail client. Are we back to that?

When I open Thunderbird all the emails are listed BUT they are double spaced. This is not the spacing of an email response, just the way they are displayed when TB is opened. I'm sure it is a simple mouse click selection but it eludes me. Can anyone suggest the choice? There are two computers and one of them displays exactly they way wanted. The other one show each email double spaced before opening it. The attached image is the display I want. Thanks for any help.

After upgrading to SuperNova on my MacBook Pro, the Mail Merge function no longer is available under "File". I looked under Tools to see if I needed to reinstall the Mail Merge Add On, and the Add On feature is also missing.

I found a discussion where someone said to download some debugging file, and to do that, you had to look under the options (three vertical dots) next to the Unified Folders Inbox. However, my Unified Folder Inbox does not have three vertical dots.

After trying to change the name of a large folder with a lot of important information I cannot access anything and when I do the following message appears:

Unable to open the summary file for Accounts on david.vasmer@gmail.com. Perhaps there was an error on disk, or the full path is too long.

Any idea how to restore my access?

How does one enable calendars in Thunderbird version 115.8.0? When I click the calendar icon on the left of the page, I get a calendar displayed but it has a message highlighted in yellow that says: "All calendars are currently disabled. Enable an existing calendar or add a new one to create or add events."

I cannot find anything in settings or elsewhere to enable calendars.

How can I turn off the threading of my emails? Its driving me crazy as when an email comes in after a short time it disappears into the threads and then I have to open each thread to find out who sent the email. At one stage there were 6 emails noted near the inbox but no new unthreaded message, all went to respective threads. Very time wasting.
