Today I read a lot of complaints about Manifest V3 and Google's monopoly with chromium. And looked at Firefox's market share from early 2024 to now. I've been thinking about how to regain a small market share and fight against chromium's dominance (although it seems impossible). For me and probably many other users, the biggest problem with firefox is its RAM usage. Currently Edge is the browser with the least RAM usage and has about 2% more market share than Firefox. If each Firefox tab was optimized to reduce 100 MB of RAM usage (without using any extensions to help reduce RAM usage), its market share would surpass Edge. What do you think?

I may not be able to reorder the shortcuts. My intuition was that a long press would allow a reorder but I would be happy with any implementation if it’s not already there (I couldn’t find this and was thinking I may have to readd them in the new preferred order)

In iPhone iOS 26 when doing the Partial-Swipe-Up to reveal information displayed on a different APP; on the reduced view of other running APPs (typically used as the method for switching between different APPs) the Firefox Focus APP’s reduced-screen version displayed, is changed to a blank screen with only the logo visible; this is not unexpected, because the Focus APP is trying to provide a level of privacy/secrecy. • Use-Case Description: Unfortunately, while typing in a search into the input field of Focus, if one wants to ensure the spelling in the search input is correct (There being another APP displaying the correct spelling, so actually viewing it is the only available method to use it elsewhere because that APP was made to only display content, but not allow highlighting or selecting any of the text/content displayed, so there is no way to have that otherwise captured to be available for pasting into any other APPs’ input method that can accept, and includes the apparently-still-active Focus APP.) by viewing the reduced screen-view, and not actually switching TO any other APP, having seen/confirmed the spelling or any reference shown because it was still displayed in the other source-APP’s reduced screen-image while doing the Partial-Swipe-Up action; the problem occurs, even if one hasn’t removed their finger from their screen, until they’ve slid & lifted their finger in the manner that specifically returns directly back to the Focus APP in its full-screen active state, with the expectation that their previous text input would still be there in the search input field, because they hadn’t hit [Enter] to submit what was already entered, and wouldn’t want to submit the partial typing without the additional info yet, and expect that the first info would be available to correct the misspelling or continue to input the correctly spelled word so as it can be appended to the previous text input (which may have been relatively complex) typed, but not yet submitted. • When the Focus APP returns to the state of being the exclusive, active, full-screen APP, it does so without displaying or retaining the previously typed input. It, instead, presents itself on the screen in the same state that it does when the APP is initially opened.

• My hope is that the APP presents itself, when returning to it now filling the screen, is presenting what in other browsers equates to being a “New Tab,” and there may be available the equivalent of previously-opened tabs, still retaining the original text, as-entered, that the user could switch to, in some way, to have the partially-entered search criteria still available, when it is switched to being the active one displayed in Focus. • If that sort of switching is available, what action(s) would the user need to do to accomplish returning to it in a manner that they could continue where they last were entering their search criteria, picking up right where they left off. • It would be advantageous to still have the prior results displayed as previously shown, while they were typing, which would also have it scrolled to the same state being displayed.

• This use-case may not necessarily be counter to the intent for which the Focus version created, because it could still have the same clean interface that eliminates any other visual distractions, without eliminating the whole of ALL prior focused tasks’ work done, or information collected, but not yet ready for it to be completely abandoned by the action to simply just LOOK AT other APPs’ last displayed information; and, not necessarily just text, the other APPs’ displays may contain some more simple reference such as a color, a shape, or any complexity of displayable content. • My use on android, Windows, Mac OS, Linux’s varied desktop environments available, plus, IIRC, the current iPad iOS levels on recent hardware that can handle extra overhead of the feature that can support the capability to have 2 different APPs both running side-by-side using a type of screen-splitting capability.
