For some reason, though I have changed absolutely nothing with my browser, now any time a link is supposed to open automatically in a new tab, it opens in an entire new window. My mouse only has two buttons (Magic Mouse on Mac), so there is no way at all for this to be user error in that regard. The best example is in Gmail when you have multiple accounts signed in, you click the profile picture in the upper right and select a different account which then opens in a new tab. I notice that when I use a fresh profile the issue goes away, and migrating a copy of my existing profile between different Firefox versions (this profile I use in 115 ESR exclusively, I don't use it with more than one version, I just mean for testing purposes here), including forks like Waterfox, all are affected by this issue. Is there something in about:config I should look for to change?

Since yesterday, some of my tab groups don't fully collapse when the group tab is clicked. Instead, one tab in the group remains fully expanded, followed by a number indicating how many other tabs are in the group. A screen shot is attached.

Since I enabled tab groups some weeks ago, tab groups have behaved as expected. When the group header is clicked, the tabs in the group spread out to be visible and clickable. When the header is clicked again, all tabs in the group collapse entirely behind the header tab.

Most of my tab groups are still behaving this way. But new groups are now displaying one full tab plus the number, no matter how many other tabs or tab groups are already occupying the window.

Since the behavior is inconsistent, it doesn't seem to be a setting. Is there any fix?

Middle-clicking a link used to open the link in a new, background tab. This suddenly stopped over the long, Memorial Day weekend.

I know I can just Shift-middle-click to get this functionality, but if you're (Mozilla) changing the default* functionality, I would assume you provided a way to go back to the old style.

  • I may have changed a setting years ago to make middle-clicks open in the background, but if I did, it was so long ago that I don't recall. Regardless, did that option go away after some update?

I noticed this today. I updated both Windows and Firefox and tried again with the same result. This works as I intend (middle-click opens links in new, background tabs in Chrome). So, this isn't a mouse driver or hardware issue.

Good morning, I'm running Firefox Developer Edition 143.0b6 on Linux Mint 22.1. A couple of weeks ago I noticed that when moving tabs on the left-hand side they'll instantly get locked into an inscrutable and seemingly impossible to fix "pinned mode". Is there a way to turn this off? It is driving me crazy. I've looked through Settings > General > Tabs and about:config and didn't see anything relevant. If anyone has run into this or knows a workaround, I’d be grateful to hear it.

Hey there, I had two windows in firefox open, one of which had a lot of tabs. I was using firefox on my surface pro, and then got up to get a snack. I came back, and the window, which I had been using for some time, was gone. The other window was still open, and firefox had not been closed. I thought I would just open it up by restoring recently closed window, but it was gone. I routinely clear my history, but even tabs that I just had open 5 minutes ago are missing from my history, like I never opened them in the first place. What is going on?

Hello, When i create a new tab (cntrl + T) I can no longer just start typing and have that be a google search. Now I need to manually click in the search bar. Is there a way to enable it so creating a new tab automatically puts the text into the search bar field?

Not sure why this stopped working, maybe a recent update. Thanks for your help.

Hello All!

I have recently tried to use Firefox View button in order to quickly open pages that I have opened on my Android device, however I found that only some (random) portion of the tabs appear in the Firefox View under [tabs from other devices/my android device].

Is there any way I can change that behaviour? This is renedring the Firefox View kind of pointless, as I still have to open my phone to check whether there was maybe one more important page that I wanted to check out, that was not listed in the Firefox View on my PC. At that point, I could very well just see what were I at, on the android device, and just google stuff again. The mixed approch (some opened via Firefox View and some manually) is more time consuming than either of the approaches alone, so I would really appreciate help, as Firefox View seemed to be a time-saver - I believe I have something set erroneously somwhere. Thanks!

I am on firefox 125.0.3. 64-bit.

It seems firefox has changed the behavior of tabs. When I go to open a closed tab, I see a list of all the tabs that have been closed from every window. I want to restore the previous behavior where "recently closed tabs" only shows the tabs that were closed in the current window. I saw some about:config settings, but I'm not sure what they do and I don't want to end up losing the tab history all together.

Thanks

Hi Was told to ask new question off of this tread. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1314940#question-reply

I have similar issue. Have file that has all the tab history, but can't get Firefox to recognize or use it. The scrounger pulls up everything so the file is good it seems.

Why can't, or how do we get Firefox to use it?

Thank you
