Cannot sync - entering the 12 dig code but nothing happens, no "Finish" button
Trying to sync FF to new computer (from Windows 7 to 8.1). I get the 12 dig code from the new computer and enter it on the old one. Nothing happens. Step 5 in the Sync in… (funda kabanzi)
Trying to sync FF to new computer (from Windows 7 to 8.1). I get the 12 dig code from the new computer and enter it on the old one. Nothing happens. Step 5 in the Sync instructions ("When the code is accepted you will see a Device Connected message and your device will immediately begin syncing. Click Finish to close the setup window. ") doesn't happen. I do not see "Device connected". All that happens is that the box returns to the Welcome! text and asks if I want to set up an account or if I have one already.
On the new computer, nothing changes. The "Next" button under the generated code does not light up.

I have spent the past couple of hours trying to get sync to work with no luck, trying everything I could find on this site, including the links to the instructions and the troublehooting, replies to questions, and even the video.
Am I right in assuming that because the Firebox versions don't match that sync won't work? Or is there yet something else that is the reason? Or can it be done, and I just haven't figured it out?

I never got (I tried three times over the past week to register) a confirmation link email. Today I tried with an email address xxxx@yyyy.com and the confirmation link email address was in my inbox after a minute. Of course I would like to use the eu damoin name email address. In mid July, after the firefox update, I had decided to close firefox like I usually do before I open the client for my MMORPG Aion, so I did. I end up not turning on firefox for a few days and when I did my bookmarks were gone as well as my toolbar bookmarks and my history. I start to wonder what happened and then I realised that there was a grey bar at the bottom of my browser stating, "Sync encountered an error while syncing: Unknown error. Sync will automatically retry this action.." I had no idea why this would happen as I never had this problem before so I look at the firefox support database but since I'm quite the greenhorn when it comes to programming there was only so much I could understand. I did try looking for corrupt or locked profiles but I saw none. Now as of today it's going on 2 months since the problem began and just today I recieved the firefox 32.0 update but still have this problem so I'm at my wits end and I not sure if I'll ever get it working again. Also my sync account is the one under the new system I had updated a few days before the problem began it also seems to be working on my other devices. Im lost without my bookmarks please help.

I found once a web prompt where the "about:config" file could be modified and successfully eliminated Some of the prompts for sync, but can't find that again to fix all of my computers.
I have liked Firefox because it had not forced unwanted advertising in my face. I am very disappointed that now advertising for Mozilla is forced in my face.

I would really like to be able to store the data (that syncs to and is added to by all my devices) somewhere private, like on a machine or drive I establish as a server. Certain data in my bookmarks comprises information I would not like to have associated with an account that is just "out there" on Mozilla's servers or someone else's.
This is THE reason I have been avoiding using Firefox Sync, from the time that it became possible to use it until the foreseeable future - my uncertainty with respect to whether or not I'll have the final say in who gets to *host* my data. I feel that I should have the ability to define privacy in my own, uncertain terms... and I have not found an answer as to whether I can or not, yet.
Had earlier Set up the "Sync" but want to restore my lost tabs on same machine!!!

Hi , I've met a very confusing security problem and a serious one , First of all let me give you my account details , username: *******@*mail.com , password: I can provide it for you if necessary , And knowing that I only use the sync system on my personal PC (laptop) which is considered as private one used by me only and well protected , and I assume what I'm saying. So one day I was in need to access the Internet on a public PC and as always I love Mozilla Firefox , and I've opened only facebook account , and filled a website form with my email account (the same as my sync username) , Please Notice I've not used the sync(no need to,and not stupid). Once finished I cleared my history and caches. And The enigma comes after two days if I remember correctly , I used a 3g data modem( the Operator was ATM MOBILIS) it was so urgent to me to connect my laptop to the internet,and once connection established , I opened Firefox and discovered that my sync account has been used by someone else and I've found saved passwords that aren't mine and history also, And the stranger part is that the Data (passwords & history) belongs to a person that lives in my city. I recognized him through his facebook photo , I can also Provide you with the Data I've found.
