Firefox goes unresponsive when watching Netflix or playing a certain game on Facebook.
There's no warning, no error messages. On watching Netflix, I click play and everything seems fine then the screen freezes and Firefox is suddenly unresponsive. When this happens I have to close Firefox by whatever means I can either by clicking 'X' or right-clicking up on the menu bar then selecting 'close'. I've even had to use ctrl+alt+delete to close Firefox and a few times my entire computer has froze forcing me to disconnect power. Firefox error reporting never comes up but Windows tries to search for a solution. On opening Firefox again.. sometimes the tab will try to reload and sometimes Firefox can't restore. I don't allow the tab to reload.
The same goes for when Firefox goes unresponsive when playing the game (Farmville) on Facebook.
I have refreshed Firefox. Everything is up to date. I've searched Firefox support and done what is suggested including disabling hardware acceleration on both Firefox and Flash Player. I don't know what else to do. I've tried everything and nothing has helped.

After updating to the new version 41.0.1, silverlight has been crashing many times throughout the day for several days in a row now. Yesterday for example, I sent at least 24 crash reports to Firefox. So last night I went back to version 40.0.3. So far I have had no silverlight plugin-in crashes yet. Is any IT or contributors aware of this problem? I need Firefox to be reliable for what I do for a living. This is not reliable.

Using firefox to watch video such as amazon prime content causes the fans on my macbook to run obnoxiously compared to Safari for some reason. I don't get it. Why? Same video in both browsers using the same plugin causes very different results.
I use XRG app to watch the temps and stuff like fan speed.
Safari running the videos uses a good amount of CPU (~70% - 90%) and CPU die temp of 71C, where Firefox will run the CPU clear up to the 150%+ range and a die temp of 85+C. The second I stop the video, I see the case temps (sensor1,2,3) start to drop pretty quickly. Is there a different version of Silverlight for firefox that is different from Safari's? I'm stuck with Silverlight for the Amazon Prime stuff.
Pretty much, video in Firefox sends the case temps to somewhere around 39-42C, nothing crazy, but with the die temps, enough to kick the fans up to the 3500-4000 rpm range watching the videos.
Safari on the other had shows case temps around 30-32C and fans that sit steady at 1999- 2048 rpm watching the videos.
