Alright. I am using this on a separate system running Vista. Connects to the internet via Ethernet and wireless. When I try opening it during boot, it works fine. Anytime else and it runs in the background without loading the U.I. Same goes for IE. Chrome is the only one that works perfectly fine. I've reinstalled it and still didn't work. I've ran the maintenceservice.exe, and it did nothing. Note: I am writing this on a separate system.

FF 38.0.1 will not Exit or New Private Window

UPDATE: Saturday 16 May 2015

Same problems as below now exist on THREE machines -- one Windows 7 64bit desktop, and two laptops Windows 7 64bit, all Win 7 SP1, updated with latest MS Updates.

Updated to Firefox 38.0.1 Windows 7 64bit...previous version of FF was working fine and was meticulously crafted by experienced tech user.

Now, we have two major troubles immediately happened with update to 38.0.1:

1. Will NOT close Firefox (have to use Task manager). Nothing we do within FF closes it

2. Firefox will NOT open New Private Window, only after we located a New Private Window toolbar icon will item #2 work.

Again, this is the fifth straight time after Updating FF that it suddenly creates new and not-seen-before problems.

This is NOT due to Add-Ons, it's not due to Plug-In's... it's due to a sudden new problem(s) introduced by the Updated FF 38.0.1, now on three different machines.

Starting FF in Safe Mode is tacitly useless and time-consuming, and proves nothing, allows nothing to be checked or changed, the problems remain.

When having to use Task Manager to close FF 38.0.1, restarting FF again calls in the Crashed Session Manager and we have to recover from what FF insists is a crashed session.

Why oh why are these new problems suddenly introduced each time we users update ?

Now what's been changed or altered, all without our knowledge, and not mention in ANY of the new FF notes, etc.

EVERY time we update, it's essentially introducing inferior performance and problems in an otherwise finely tuned previously working FF.

Saturday 16 May 2015: Have received no replies, no assistance or ideas from Mozilla troubleshooting or programming staff. There must be many Windows 7 64bit users seeing the same problem(s) ??

Using a Macbook Pro with Yosemite OS X. Firefox app won't 'force quit'. I have tried hard and soft restarts, but the Firefox app stops the computer from carrying out command as Firefox won't close. I can't update the Firefox software as the current Firefox app is still open, or delete the app, for the same reason. Cannot use Firefox in Safe Mode (a route to a possible solution in other threads) because I can't access the Firefox menu. Also, can't update Mac software, as it requires a restart, and the technically open Firefox app will prevent this. Help?

Constantly get an error box when I press the red x to quit Firefox. Very aggravating.

Box says that that Firefox crashed. I did not. I shut it down. Box wants me to send error report. I did that a zillion times! I have no special settings for history or stuff like that. This all started with the update to 37.0. Updates 37.1 and 37.2 did not fix this issue either. My system is 64bit windows 8.1. This issue also happening on my laptop. That is windows 7, 32 bit machine. I did a refresh to my Firefox but that did not solve the problem either.

Since my browser is updated to 43, I am seeing connectivity related issues. Currently, it is at 43.0.4, I have submitted at least 3 crash reports after updated to 43. And submitted feedback reports few times recently, so those reports might have some troubleshooting information. Main problem I am seeing is - after opening the browser, it works fine for some time. There is no definite time frame but after sometime, none of the websites open. It either shows empty page as if I opened an empty tab or the error that says 'connection was reset'. 90% of the time it is empty page. While it tries open the pages, it says 'looking up <website>' or 'resolving <website>' in the bottom corner overlay. My problem is almost same as what was described in another post where some users who have 'NVidia connection manager firewall' installed. But I do not have this installed. So not sure what else is causing this in my system. But how come firefox is vulnerable to those applications installed and other browsers do not. All the times when firefox is not working, Chrome worked perfectly fine although bit slow comparatively.

But it never opens on my screen. I have tried "refreshing" and even removing and reinstalling.
