On a recent show of Security Now Steve Gibson was talking about Google using ping tracking to spy & track on everything we do and how bad this will be for privacy. I was pleased that it was only google doing this with chrome until this morning he said Firefox are adding it in an upcoming update and when its in you cannot disable it, all in the name of a faster internet. Can anyone tell me why a privacy based browser is using this technology and how will the content/tracking blocking features in Firefox respond to these changes?

These personalized newsfeeds, whatever they are-- Google does them all. Some are not as intrusive as others. But within Firefox, I get some of the most bizarre news stories... stories about things I'm not even talking to other people about or looking up online. How could it possibly find a connection? Even when there is a minute connection. It's not a coincidence. It's like, is my phone hacked-- are people reading my mind? It's some form of breach of privacy.
Granted, all the accounts I use are logged into Firefox. Tonight, I took a gander over the privacy settings, and as usual my jaw dropped in disbelief. Permissions; Locations, Camera, etc.-- instead of valuing peoples' privacy and not caring one ioda like Fuckfacebook, many privacy-invading functions are ON by default until they are turned off by the user. This is why I don't use apps. It's why I quit Facebook many years ago. And now, I say goodbye to Firebox. Sick and tired of people encroaching on my privacy. It's principal, nothing more, nothing less-- THIS BROWSER IS GONE. Stay out of my personal business.

I have a number of people hacking me some in the US for unknown reasons and some outside the US because I have family that lives in China. I have someone trying to corrupt my Firefox by installing scripts and toolbars most of which I can remove easily.
This is the second time they have corrupted the address bar for my Firefox. The first time I was able to fix it by re-installing firefox from scratch and re-installing all my plugins. I don't want to do this every time one of the morons hacking me decides on a whim to mess up my firefox to try to get me to use a less secure browser like that disgrace that is internet explorer or some other browser.
Are you guys working on a bug fix for this? I searched around and it seems to be a re-occurring problem with Firefox

it is difficult to think of a more serious breach than this, and there is now way to directly report the problem to them - hope they look at this post.

I need to configure Firefox in an enterprise environment. Other that using 3rd part group policy templates which I do not want to do, the only option I have found to lock it down is using preference files. This will lock down Firefox but I need a way to stop an admin user from manually editing the configuration files.
I thought of using a group policy preference to copy the preference files on every GP refresh but it can take up to 90 minutes for the policy to apply. Is there a better way to lock down the files themselves?

I was attempting to restore my tabs and as it wasn't working properly, I was editing a sessionstore.js or recovery.js looking for URLs that were present so I could re-open the tabs to recreate what I had before.
To my horror, on one of the tab details I find stored in the sessionstore/recovery, all the details from a purchase page I had filled in to buy a tour, had not only my name and address, but telephone number, and address. That would be bad enough, but also stored was the complete details of my credit card which I had used for the purchase. That included the name on the credit card, expiry date, and security code. It probably also had the card number, but I had been doing some editing so may have accidentally deleted it before I noticed what was in there.
How is this a regard by Mozilla for my privacy and security? When will this be rectified? I hope soon, as this sort of information should not be left around/stored on a computer following it's use.
I am not going to share the file details with you for obvious reasons, so I am not sure if the attached information will be any use to you.

I have literally endured countless hours of grief over the past years, because sites have become ever more sophisticated, to the point of causing aggravation.
Today, after spending hours figuring out which clothing to buy, then analyzing my shopping cart, a site kept kicking up a message that my phone number doesn't match my billing info. So I thought that either it wasn't accepting my entered promo code, or else that the programmer failed to coordinate correctly with Paypal. Because my phone number certainly DID jive with my billing info & the paypal acct. info.
Furthermore, I sometimes run into forums which automatically time me out, and then I have to login again.
Whether for security reasons or whatever, the programmers who automatically time-out cause countless grief. It's a long story, because I'm then made to endure asinine customer "non"service who are condescending in a drawn-out way, who fail to believe my real issues (because they don't offer a way for me to email or fax them a screenshot), and don't believe me when I tell them that I did everything properly, but yet its either looping or else kicking back unwarranted error msgs. Due to them not enabling sending a screenshot they waste my time by condescendingly telling me that I need to "blah-blah" and then it should work. Or else they say the promo code is wrong, or the phone number is supposed to be numerals and no hyphens.
Basically, they say everything EXCEPT: Are you sure you're still logged in? Are you aware blah-blah is case-sensitive?
So that's why I came here to ask if there's any such Add-On which FLASHES A RED WARNING whenever I get various STUPID error messages.
I.E. the software should detect when a site is giving me an error msg. Whereupon a warning should remind me: PERHAPS THIS SITE AUTOMATICALLY LOGGED YOU OFF, ....OR ELSE PERHAPS IT'S REQUIRING A CASE-SENSITIVE PASSWORD?

Hi guys, I'm working on locking down Firefox for some of our corporate machines, and in at least one of our configurations, I need to completely remove access to the Library and all it's components for security reasons, as it could be abused to browse local drives, and these are supposed to be kiosks.
Is there a way to either disable the UI element of the Library (what's the CSS ID, and then I can try to put it in CCK2 to disable that UI element) or to completely disable the Library window/functions/feature itself?

I recently bought an HP laptop. It had Chromw loaded, I prefer Firefox. More and more now when I try to open a FF window I get :
"Our systems have detected unusual traffic from your computer network. This page checks to see if it's really you sending the requests, and not a robot". This is also available:
"This page appears when Google automatically detects requests coming from your computer network which appear to be in violation of the Terms of Service. The block will expire shortly after those requests stop. In the meantime, solving the above CAPTCHA will let you continue to use our services.
This traffic may have been sent by malicious software, a browser plug-in, or a script that sends automated requests. If you share your network connection, ask your administrator for help — a different computer using the same IP address may be responsible. "
Sometimes you may be asked to solve the CAPTCHA if you are using advanced terms that robots are known to use, or sending requests very quickly. I am then forced to go through the Captcha rigmarole and it seems less and less keen to ever let me past.
Within our household we have two other laptops running FF and have no such problems with them
Thoughts and advice would be welcome?
Thanks

For past several days, a pop-up message appears every time I attempt to open my browser asking if I want to allow this app to make changes to my computer. The app is listed as Firefox Software Updater. When I checked Add-ons, I notice an add-on which is listed as temporary in support of Safe Browsing Version 4 and will supposedly be deleted once the roll-out of this feature is complete. How long is this 'roll-out' supposed to take? This has been going on for days. Should I be responding 'No' or 'Yes'? I'm using Windows 10 and Firefox 56.0.1.

Hello, I have recently noticed that despite the Firefox process being closed, there are a number of connections still open and remain open for the duration of the current computer session. Restart seems to close all connections. Connections increase and stay open the more I would browse.
OS is Windows 7 Ultimate Running Firefox 55.0.3 Using Kaspersky Internet Security 2018 to monitor active connections.
Screen shot attached to show some examples of active connections even when Firefox is closed. Any idea why this is happening and how to prevent it?

As an administrator in a small office, i am using trend micro add on as a web filtering. But all of my web filtering rules will gone if the add on is disabled by my fellow officer in their PC. And i can't find any settings to lock it down.
I ask for this features because firefox is my favorite browser, and i want to keep using firefox. I Tried google chrome, and for now i cannot find how to disable my trendmicro web filtering on chrome (which is a good thing) Internet Explorer just not an option, it's too obsolete.
If firefox not updating this features in the near future, i will need to use chrome in order to patch my office security. Please update as soon as possible.

I know nothing about coding and wouldn't even attempt it. Is there an add on or some kind of suggestion anyone would have? I'm especially concerned as my kids are getting older and I suspect they will have try this one day. lol

With the latest update access to all Cisco devices via FireFox is no longer supported. I am now receiving the following errors:
Secure Connection Failed An error occurred during a connection to [IP]. SSL received a weak ephemeral Diffie-Hellman key in Server Key Exchange handshake message. (Error code: ssl_error_weak_server_ephemeral_dh_key) The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified. Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.
Is there a way to roll-back the version to avoid this or a permanent fix? FireFox is currently the only browser that works very well with Cisco devices and now it will not work at all.
