I have read through the various post / solutions. I can nopt find the profile file on my hard drive. Up until a month or so ago was able to use Firefox on this machine. Now not.

How can I solve this problem?

I can not open Firefox, I am shown this message: "Could not get profile Firefox. The profile is missing or not accessible."

Even after uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox.

what do I do?

I had to reinstall my OS (linuxmint - debian edition - 201403). I left /home intact. After the process, I checked the profile -- nothing was changed. So I ran Firefox. But, my bookmarks didn't load (only the few that come with a new install). It didn't load the preferences either. I tried some tricks to get it to load my profile (i.e. create a new profile and copy the contents, Help>Troubleshooting Information -- Reset). Still no joy. I even tried running in a shell with -P <profile> for both the original and new profiles. Still no bookmarks (or anything from my original profile).

Also, on the Help>Troubleshooting Information page, I click 'open directory' and see my original profile.

What's wrong, and how do I fix it?

Hello, I'm having problem with Firefox on one laptop. All computers in company are connected to domain (Active Directory), and are using roaming profiles, to roam user profiles within computers in company. Laptops are using roaming profiles + offline files (so users can access their files, when not connected to company network). The problem occurs when user is connected to company network and is using Firefox, then hibernate computer (it doesn't matter if Firefox is on/off) and run computer on home WiFI network (or with no network) - Firefox is losing all settings including history & bookmarks. The strange thing is - that on other laptops Firefox is working properly (no matter on which network user is connected). I've tried new system install + connecting laptop to domain but problem is still exist.

I have an old mac running Firefox 34.0.5 with an organized bookmark toolbar. The new computer is running Firefox 35.0. I cannot "sync" my bookmarks, much less my bookmark toolbar. It seems that both accounts are signed into the same email account. Nothing happens when I "Sync Now" from either computer. Thanks so much in advance for any help.

firefox crashed whilst refreshing but created a folder "old firefox data". I therefore I started again and deleted then reinsalled firefox. I would like my old bookmarks to be available have tried the help info regarding copying files between profiles but does not seem to work. I can access the old and new profile but when I right click on Places.sqlite on old profile and select copy, then on new file there is no paste option. I am not computer literate and an OAP so would appreciate simple step by step instructions. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Win XP (why? because I like the interface) totally crashed and had to be reinstalled. How do I get Firefox to install on a drive other than the C drive? I want FF back in the same location that it was. (The files on Drive F are all still in place.) Also, I want to keep my old Profile and Add-Ons, etc.

I had several problems to begin with

1.I booted up my PC and tried to boot up Mozilla. The Browser asked me to refresh or go to safemode. I dont want to be in safemode so I refreshed firefox.Once it was done refreshing it opened,closed and asked again to refresh firefox. I kept doing this infinetly. 2.I decided to reinstall firefox, so I did. I also wanted my previous profile folder back so I can regain my bookmarks, passwords,tabs and extensions. It did not work. 3. So now everytime I try to open Mozilla Firefox it says "Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible". I tried reinstalling again and it did not work.I wanted to try profile editor and such but I get the same error message everytime and I cannot open or fix Firefox in any way. Solutions?

My Windows 7 OS got corrupted and had to be reinstalled so I've had to "rebuild" my laptop. I don't recall ever backing up my many Firefox bookmarks using a Firefox tool. My online backup is Mozy and I've successfully restored data files. I see a folder among the Mozy backup files with this path: F:\mozyLocalBackup\betsyb-laptop\C\Users\betsyb\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\gy6v6xhf.default-1408376452741. It contains files with names like logins.json and places.sqlite. Can I use any of this to restore bookmarks and other things that were stored in my Firefox profile? If not, any other suggestions? We have a computer that gets shared between a few people but it uses a generic logon. However, individual people may want to use Firefox to check the email and things but don't want other people to get into their own stuff.

I know that I can create a profile for each person but I don't seem to see any way to set a password on the profile. Is there any way to do that?

I had Waterfox on my computer up until a few days ago. I got a bug. I uninstalled a few programs to reload. When I download waterfox and firefox, I get these messages: Your profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or corrupted. I cannot find the profile manager in the files. I tried using "run". I have uninstalled it and did a clean boot and installed again: no good. I have windows 10 on an HP Notebook. I have tried most of the fixes I found for this problem but most of them are old fixes. I will appreciate any help you can give because I have found Waterfox is the best browser for me. My computer is a 64bit. Thank you, Marcy

I am not very computer literate. I have been going around and around with this for hours. I can't open firefox. I just get the message. I re installed firefox and see a folder of "old firefox data" on the desktop, but I can't figure out what to do from the different articles about this. I just go around an around.

I use FEBE and Profile Manager, because I have tailored FF to my small screen, and personal needs, with many add-ons.

I recently made a new profile for FF42, and used FEBE to overwrite it with my customary profile settings.

All went well until I came on here to ask a question about my Thunderbird: Halfway through asking the question FF froze, and I had to kill it in Process Explorer. When I opened it again, the first tab just said 'connecting', and the whole thing froze as soon as that came up. Clearing all my caches with CCleaner made no difference. There was no malware detected by Malwarebytes.

I opened a previous version of FF (Thank g-d for FEBE!), and tried to overwrite the stuck profile with my current settings again, but it just froze, and had to be terminated from Process Explorer.

I tried to delete the corrupt profile in Profile Manager, but that just froze as well. :/

Luckily, it didn't break Profile Manager altogether, and, after reloading it, I could make a new profile for 42, and give it my preferred FEBE profile, and am using it now. As I don't know what corrupted the first 42, I'm a bit wary that this one might break too.

The corrupt 42 is still in the list in Profile Manager, but freezes everything when I try to delete it. How can I clean it out?

Thanks for any ideas as to what went wrong, and any tips on clearing the corrupt profile without damaging my good ones. Have I been locked out of that profile by something changing my permissions? I would have thought that MWB would have detected any obvious mischief.

My startup disk was over capacity so I force quit out of all of my running applications and shut down my computer. When I started it back up I emptied some files to make a bit of room. WHen I then opened FIrefox, a blank window opened with no bookmarks, toolbar and my homepage did not open. I checked preferences, and the homepage info is there, but for some reason I cannot get the homepage to open upon starting Firefox, or any of my bookmarks. I tried restoring bookmarks from backups, but I get an error message that says that FIrefox can't not open the files.

I have a my Firefox profile and a copy of its folder. After a certain amount of time launching Firefox with this profile, the history and cookies are missing in the browser, as well as some other preferences and data. What I do is that I close Firefox, delete the profile folder, duplicate the copy to a new copy and rename the original copy to match the profile folder name. The next time I launch Firefox history and cookies are here again. Then after 3 or 4 launches, they've disappeared again, so here I go again with the copies.

I don't know what causes the profile folder not to work after a few launches. One time the history was there again even after rebooting the computer, most of the time it disappears after a few hours (after a few relaunches of Firefox).

The profile originally became corrupted when I performed a cold shutdown of my computer while Firefox was open. I remember that when I booted again, my profile was well; it was at the next Firefox launch that the data was missing. I opened the sqlite files with the sqlite3 command line and they looked clean. Next time I launched Firefox the data was available again. I made a copy of the folder in case of, and there I am with the merry-go-round of copies.
