Every two or three hours, firefox locks my computer by creating thousands of tracks and temporary file megabytes. I have to power button the computer off and restart.

I have tried ridding of cache etc, but nothing works. I am running win 7 64x ultimate, and the latest firefox browser, but this issue has been going on with previous versions and over years. Yesterday the problem corrupted some files that sfc /scannow can't even fix.

Please help.

Very frustrating with many websites especially Amazon hanging and freezing on Firefox, this happens in Windows 10 across multiple computers, this issue doesn't happen on Chrome or Safari. Ad blocking has been turned off, hardware acceleration disabled, and multiple times complete reinstalls have been performed of Windows 10. For instance on Amazon, these websites seem to hang when loading, either freezing the browser with no mouse input allowed or loading broken images:

unagi-na.amazon.com unagi.amazon.com m-media.amazon.com images-na.ssl-images.amazon.com fls-na.amazon.com

I've had to use Chrome on these multiple computers when ordering from Amazon, any insight would be appreciated.

https://home.oki-toki.net/login is a VOIP site, it calls the client after connection a new tab opens. The problem is that I can't hear the client until I click on the “oki toki” tab. When I click, I can see that only at that moment the client is connected (the button on the site indicates this, take my word for it). Previously on Chrome there was no such problem and I could hear the client immediately without having to go back to “oki toki”. I have enabled all sites to automatically play video and audio. In the deep settings, I disabled the function to automatically unload tabs when running out of memory. This did not help. This problem regardless of whether the browser is open or minimized. How can I stop websites creating/updating cache files when I'm not interacting with the web page? Firefox constantly has a cpu/disk usage.

I keeps lots of pages open (almost 100) but they are continually adding/updating cache in the background. More than 1gb of cache is created withing a couple of days.

Thanks

For a month or so after last updates is getting impossible to work with firefox. It's is getting sluggish with 3-4 open tabs after few minutes, I can't do anything, have to close all windows and open again. Even to text this for got ridiculous slow, I have only 5 addons enabled, I had 10 before but for testing disabled all others. now only have ublock origin, disconect, ad-block, blocktube, and facebook container. If I open youtube, facebook and a google searching page and start to use, after few minutes everything goes very very slow, if to type something. What's going on ? Also there's like 12 firefox tabs on task manager, taking a lot of processing and memory. Already scanned with antivirus, and it's clean. Intel i7-6700T 16gb ram, SSD, Radeon R7-M370 it's a HP AIO 27-p010xt-CTO. And is not because it's an old machine on my new laptop happens the same, and I went online and there's a lot of people saying the same.

Firefox 131.0.3 (64 bit) Ubuntu Linux CPU % drop dramatically when opening Firefox Task Manger.

While listening to an audio steaming service in tab1 that utilises ~ 58% CPU, opened up Firefox Task Manager in tab2. CPU load drops dramatically to ~ 8% without doing anything to existing processes and all the while audio is still steaming while in tab2. When switching back to tab1 CPU load increases again to ~ 58%. CPU load measured with Linux HTOP app.

Questions: 1. What is the reason for this? Can it have something to do with display card that is maybe used intensively in tab1 and not in tab2? 2. If the above in 1) is true then surely Firefox Task Manager does not measure active CPU loads correctly? 3. Is there any learnings from this to improve overall Firefox performance as standard?

Legacy Hardware: Intel dual core 2.8 Ghz CPU with 4GB Ram. OS: Ubuntu 20.04.06 LTS 64 bit Display card: Nvidia 9500GT Connectivity: WIFI

Some web site developers abuse functionality built into web browsers, apparently in an attempt to be more annoying, and most often as a very aggressive form of advertising.

A classic example of this is DeviantArt who track the location of your mouse pointer on a page to pop up irritating little suggestions which prevent you clicking on a link or even seeing it. eBay are bad for this sort of nonsense too.

An example on DeviantArt is when viewing a new 'deviation' (piece of art), sometimes/often, if you should choose to click on the 'deviant' name (basically the person who posted it), a 'tip' will pop up which completely obscures the link you were about to click suggesting "No-one's commented yet. Be the first!". It happens an awful lot and it's infuriating, but DeviantArt use this technique all throughout their site tracking your pointer to pop up annoying hints and suggestions as you navigate the site.

Now I don't see why sites should feel entitled to know where my mouse pointer is as I move it about a page.

The only time my pointer location matters as far as I am concerned is when I choose to either left or right click on something. Even then, it is what I have left/right clicked on, not it's location on the page, which matters.

I don't wish for the pointer location to be continuously relayed to the website.

Clearly it is a functionality which is built into both the site and the browser that it tracks your pointer, sending a steady stream of position data to the host site.

I wish to be able to prevent that.

If I were using a touchscreen device there would be no mouse pointer they could spy on yet the sites which abuse this functionality cope just fine with that when I view them on my handheld touchscreen devices.

I wish for Firefox to have the functionality to stop this steady stream of mouse pointer coordinates being given to the host site.

How is it possible to do this please ?

Many thanks!

Recently, the Firefox browser stopped working. Specifically for me, Costco's website, and Aetna. I believe the issue could be that those websites require that the location is confirmed, but no pop is generated, thus causing the website to not work with Firefox. Please help me, as your browser is the best.
